Paula, I'm sorry for your loss (husband) but very happy for you that you have found an enjoyable life out in nature, for as long as you decide to make that your life. It looks ideal, happy, carefree.
Bob, as a first grade teacher who camps weekends and summers in my minivan, I can tell you that you are a natural teacher! You know how to bring out the best in those you interview and you do a great job presenting information that is useful and interesting to other people. Keep up the good work--A+
Im sorry to hear about the loss of your husband, Paula. I'm sure that is very hard. I send my love. I hope you enjoy the new life, creating new adventures for yourself. Thank you for the interview.
What a great video and Paula is right Bob, when she says you are the superstar of this kind of information. I have learned so much from all of your videos and am in the process of setting up my own car which is much smaller than the Jeep in this video. Thank you for all of your information and for continuing to show us people who have car and suv setups, and not just RV's and vans. Thank you!
Thanks Mr Bob. Mrs. Paula as you journey in a New Journey in your life may God be with you as you go through your time of healing and grieving and just trying to enjoy new adventures in your life you seem like a very. Wise woman and full of life
Gosh golly! Here's another video I missed! This woman was totally prepared! I could write a book on what I was impressed with! Wow! That's the way to go if you're in an SUV type vehicle! She lacked for nothing it seems. Thanks for sharing Bob😄
I have a Jeep Wrangler and go camping in it with many of the same items. Paula has done a great job. One difference for me is that I sleep on the passenger side due to my height, (almost 6'3"). This allows the drivers seat to always be in the ready state, in case of an emergency situation. When you do the costing of such travel it is amazing what your able to achieve and that is still with using the odd night in a hotel (a treat). Nice vid.
iiving like this should be a choice only ,everyone should be able to live in their homes and enjoy life, this is a shame.a country this wealthy. its very dangerous to be a woman out here roughing it., I wouldn't doubt it pretty soon that the Government stop them from finding places to park their cars.
Paula I love your set up...Way to go! It is so much fun to travel and camp who would have thought it at ages... Our kids think we are crazy, but just wait they will see different at our ages or maybe not. We had to give it a try then we found out we love it... hmm imagine that... our grown kids go camping and love it on every occasion that comes up through out the year... So we go when we want too... Life is fun when you live it on your terms... Happy Trails!
Good on ya Paula! Thanks for vid. I have Jeep GC Trailhawk. I immediately put 2nd row seats down and have tarp down and 4" memory foam mattress covered by 2 blk soft warm flannel bags. I have dark back windows . I have slept in it few times comfortably. I have that key fob warm up start... where i get in snuggle into bed crack a window for air and lock doors and Insta start from my bunk the engine and heater runs for 15 mins and auto shuts itself off! I am 5'5" tall. I have lots of storage on right side and all and also under around full spare. Refer idea is great. Top carrier and possibly hitch stoage like hers... i hope to travel thru Canada and into Alaska this fall and winter over in a sweet cabin spot and experience full winter and Auroras! Wish me luck... ill keep ya posted. Thanks for all the great vids Bob!
How do you get the doors to lock on demand? Mine won't in my 2019 Cherokee Or, maybe, it's just the door handle button wont beep if the fob is inside ... bc I tried t0 keep one fob in thr console (not in use) and the other im my pocket or purse but that handle button wont beep with it inside . A little frustrating because you want it to, but actually a very good feature that allows you to never lock your keys inside your vehicle!!;)
I lived in and out of a Mitsubishi Outlander SUV last december and while I loved it and it is totally doable you really want to have warm weather to avoid condensation. It was sunny at daytime but at night temps went down to 42°F. Each morning I had to towel down all windows, especially the windshield was covered with water, even though I had two windows cracked open half an inch all night. Also for a long term setup I'd get rid of the rear seats as they limit the height between your sleeping/living area and the roof and getting in and out of the rear passenger doors is annoying with the high platform due to the the seats folded down. If you can't open and close the tailgate from the inside, modify it it to do so because that is the easiest way to get in and out. Last thing, be careful what you store unsecured in the rear as everything will become a deadly projectile in case of a crash.
I found a solution to this. It's sort of the same concept of a mosquito net but instead of keeping bugs out it will keep moisture in. Just hang a sheet a foot or 2 above your head and have it hang down to enclose you. You can do this buy clipping it to stuff already in your vehicle or build something to hold it. It will keep the moisture in plus heat, very nice when it gets below freezing.
I have learned so much about tools and tricks for camping out of your car or van, Bob, thank you for taking the time to seek campers in all sorts of methods, vehicles and ways and sharing with us. Such useful information! And I do use the links too, so appreciative of those as well.
I like how Paula is so flexible with her plans and also how she just rolls a long with the circumstances as they arise. After watching several of these video interviews with a mix of different people and living situations I've come to the conclusion that flexibility is key to success in this lifestyle.
My roommate is getting ready to go in a HHR, she is leaving on the 15 of May. She has been sitting and watching Bob the last few months. She is excited.
Paula and BOB THANK YOU! this lady is so near to my life interview is a answer to my prayer for what Iv been wanting to do. Paula thank you for sharing. Sorry for your loss. Bob you always know what we need and find others to share their hearts desire,to travel and live in our USA on the road many different ways. HAPPY SAFE TRAILS TO YOU BOTH. Jp,OK
That was a great video Bob! You have inspired me (as it appears you have with countless others) to find a new way to live. I believe you have started a real movement and given all of us great tools in your videos so that we can live well, regain our freedom, and live in dignity with few things and attachments. The social network you are creating is to me just as important as the tools you have given us so I look forward to watching how your caravans continue to develop and hopefully becoming a part of one of them someday. Thanks again Bob for all the wonderful things you are doing to help so many of us!
Everyone below has already said everything I thought when viewing this video. Classy, calm, courageous, kind, happy individual! Good luck to you, Ma’me!
Enjoyable and informative. What a trooper this lady is! When many people would be wallowing in self pity, she has set herself up for an active and independent, albeit comfortable lifestyle. Kudos to you, Paula.
Great setup, Paula. I've spent hundreds of nights in my SUV, and I think it's the perfect adventure vehicle. I like that hitch hauler thing. That holds a ton! Thanks for sharing, Bob and Paula.
What a charming woman. Enjoyed the tour of her Jeep. It’s inspirational how Paula has things organized. Thanks for sharing Paula and her story, Bob. I’m so sorry to hear of her loss but with her winning attitude I believe she’ll be just fine. Time heals. Safe travels to all on the road...

I love my Jeep Cherokee. My son and I spend most every summer traveling with three large dogs. I have added a roof rack to mine and we can take all we need. There is so much room inside that when folding down the front passengers seat and pushing the drivers seat forward you can fit a full size air mattress. Very cozy and warm.
Damn, Solar Too ? What a smart use of space !!! Paula, KUDOS and thanks for the idea !!!

Can't run the trails anymore but I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee that I'm going to do some traveling in. I'm 62 and need to get back on the road for awhile like i did when i was 17. Took six months in 1974 and just drove around. Went as far south-west as Bartlesville Oklahoma. Drove through Kansas, Nebraska (beautiful state), Iowa..... Worked part time and day jovs here and there. Great time in my life....
Great video! You rocked it out Bob! Good for that lady, to be in nature while grieving over her husband. She looks like she’s right at home even though she has a class C at home! Lol! Be safe, happy trails,! Peace & Love!
Love it !! I will definitely use some of the information and ideas from Paula ! And I hope to cross paths with her someday. Thank you Bob and Paula for this great video !!
I have a Tahoe and have the seats that fold flat in the back. I have a twin size memory foam tri-fold mattress that fits on one side with the wider seat down. I can fold and flip the smaller seat forward and can fit a small portapotty where the seat was. I don’t live in it but use it for car camping so far but my plan is to eventually sell my house and travel sleeping in that for a while. Looking at a camper van eventually but for now this works.
We will be starting out in our Forester. We have been using for a year and a half part time. But have been getting a lot of great ideas for what works for us.
I watch all these videos and love especially the ones showcasing senior women...such as myself. It gives me hope that I can change my daily cubicle soulless grind and live much cheaper in my vehicle out in nature. I loved THIS video especially because it really shows how to start inexpensively and with less gear. I was disappointed that the info for her items are Not listed below. For example, the stove listed is propane, but hers is butane. There is no link for the snap on toilet seat, not how to find one. There is no link to the inflatable camping mattress - which, having researched them- come in various prices and quality. I hope Bob considers that listing non Amazon referal products would also help his subscribers.
How organized, efficient & comfortable! Minimalism at its finest. I'm so sorry for her losses but it looks like she plans to make the most of this next stage of life & have some fun. Great attitude.
Bob your a legend, total inspiration for so many of us. I could watch your videos until the cows come home, always interesting and love your calmness, helps me relax after a stressful day at work. I would love to become a nomad, but there isn’t the same opportunities or weather in the UK, so I’ll keep dreaming. Thank you Bob 🌈🌻💕🇬🇧
Thanks for sharing Paula and Bob, i love that cargo carrier, in another month i will be joining the rest of the Nomads, got my storage, and portable stove and luggable loo and other needed item's. I would like to be with other nomads or people that already are living the life, but i don't know any. For now i will just be or live as discrete as i can.
Thank you for sharing, Paula, in a not-easy time. God bless and keep you. You may not feel like a strong woman, but you are. And a great example! Thanks.
Nice set up hope you have some great adventures. I'm sorry for your loss my friend lost her husband over a year ago. She is trying to move on it the new year. Be careful out there.
I have a VERY similar set up in my Land Rover LR2. Except I have a rooftop tent and a bat wing awning. I like having the daybed down below for roadside naps as well. I use a goal zero yeti 400 for battery and have a solar suitcase. I also have a small yeti hopper cooler and a joy tutus 20l fridge/freezer. Fun little kit
By far this is the best series of videos on so many different aspects of camping for entry-level part-time and full-time Nomads. You’re shooting and editing has improved and you ask all the right questions and I think you do a good job of setting your guests at ease. I know it’s a delicate situation, after all your entering peoples private camp spaces and asking them to show you how they have it set up. I’m sure there must end up being out takes a plenty. This video is especially interesting because I’ve been planning for six months on buying a Subaru outback for long road trip camping and telling a small cargo trailer. Though the gas mileage for the Subaru is much better than a jeep Cherokee, I am thinking about the added headroom once you’re inside the vehicle and larger roof rack and better towing capacity. Curious if you’ve done a video on fuel economy. I’ve learned over many decades that if you keep it around 60 mph on the highway you get the best gas mileage. I see people complaining about gas prices and fuel consumption of their car and yet they are driving along 85 miles an hour. Just because the speed limit says that you don’t have to go that fast. That really burns fuel
Paula, you are awesome and brave in this endeavor, i love it! on that "pipi" gadget :D ...it's possible some women are using it the wrong way and that's why it doesn't work for some, LOL. Fantastic organizing skills. Bob, i do enjoy your videos and interviews with others, it's inspiring. Safe travels to both of you beautiful beings. Always in appreciation for your time and efforts.

Nice set up hope you have some great adventures. I'm sorry for your loss my friend lost her husband over a year ago. She is trying to move on it the new year. Be careful out there.
Awesome organized vehicle and lady..Thank you..Have a blessed day..
another great video from the king.what a nice lady with a great rig.thanks bob.
Hi Paula ! Thanks for sharing your setup with us, I hope we get to see your Class C on another video.
That really burns fuel
well done Paula. You are very impressive how you created a new and good life.
Another great video Bob. 👍
Please cover the battery terminals. One piece of metal touching them, even while driving around, and the thing will go up in flames. Very scary!
OH shit ..good point ...there should b a way to put this comment at the top of the list ...as its something everyone should know...hope she saw this
Fanzindel I'm thinking of doing vacations like this in the future. So thanks for that important information. I didn't even think of that.
Great information. She is very innovative and well-organized.
Thank you for sharing Paula, good luck with your travels.
What a thoughtful set up. Charming lady.
I’ve only saw one other converted Jeep Cherokee, other than mine. I took my seats out so it’s interesting to see a different perspective.
She seems like a nice lady!!!😊 Thanks Bob! Hi Cody!🐾
Wonderful...Thank you Paula...I have a Subaru outback that would do well...arranged that way. Hug
Really like how she has it all setup. The hitch carrier is a good idea so the inside of the SUV is clear of space.
