That's the same way that I do my bag of ice when I go camping..... I DO NOT open the bag ice either...... because, it seemed to last longer if the ice is left in the bag... so, I always bought 2 bags of ice...I put one bag at the bottom with the food in the middle with the other bag on the top of the food or on the side.... and I kept all of my food into separate zip lock bags...and used the melted water for Washing dishes
Faith, Love (and Hope) indeed! Debra has a good attitude and is stretching her 4 x 4 SUV. Kudos to her and her attitude. That back table is original and easy to make plus very practical. Love the DIY side shade. Ideas....Ideas....Ideas. Dang she is good looking too AND a Hiker!.....WOHOO!
I have two door 2000 Explorer. I'm 6'3" so had to take out two seats. It's the sport model. I keep all my stuff in a tent. I don't hsve bathroom but I camp in campgrounds. Tell you once you get used to living near nature, the thought of moving into a mobile home or apt mskes you cringe as there's usually someone around to talk to if they're friendly. I usually don't move that much if I can find a place with monthly rates and will probably have to follow the seasons. I have electric heaters and coleman stove. Working for me now at 74. Requires a little more effort living in suv but it's ok.
Thanks to Debra and Bob. These are my favorite kind of interviews and she is the poster woman for cheap RV living. The key idea here is that a person does not need 90,000$ for a Mercedes sprinter van conversion or 120,000$ for a Road Trek class B camper van. It is possible and very doable to get on the road for a lot less money and at the same time live a quality life. People who have tent camped or backpacked know how little it takes to be out in the woods having a great life with very little stuff. Thanks for the inspiring interview.
It has been my dream to own a Travato or the like. However, it wasn't in the budget so I kitted out my GMC Acadia. Now I don't even think about spending all that money. I am quite content with my SUV camper. I added a low cot this year to add to storage underneath and love it. I am mostly a campground camper but I love the freedom of getting away by myself.
No way, a truck conversion that's FINALLY in my same exact vehicle! Year and everything! I love my Explorer, the '99s are the perfect generation of them and the space is perfect.
Of the hundreds of videos I've watched over 5 years now, this one is my favorite! God willing, I will find a vehicle and 've nomadic in 6-9 months. My old pick up truck won't make it to Texas.😪
It is incredible what you can do when you just TRY. People tell themselves that they can't do a thing, and with that attitude you will not be able to do anything. She went for it and created something that is perfect for her, and that is awesome. Good job!
I watched this again and enjoyed it so much. Debra is a get it done girl. She had had a fasenating life and has learned so much. She doesn't look or sound like a scaredy cat either! Great video Bob, thanks.
I've spent many, many nights in my white 2001 Ford Explorer. I didn't outfit it like Debra, but when I got to where I was going to spend the night, I would move all my gear to the passenger side and have the whole drivers side for a pad and sleeping bag. I've done 2 people trips too, just have to move all the gear to the outside to make room for sleeping area. Brilliant how those back seats pivoted down to make the back area one big flat place for sleeping, hauling or anything you could think of. That hatchback also makes a great awning.
Why would ANY ONE PERSON give a thumbs down!? I guess that's the balance that keeps life spinning round-n-round 8 (dark hearted) vs. 180+ (of the light) this gal is full of joy! Bob, your one of the special ones.
Remember that there are Trolls and Losers that come across ANY youtube video and they don't know or understand or just want to piss someone off. Plus the occasional mistake of hitting the wrong button.
Love, love Debra's energy and ingenuity. What a gr8 build, & w/o any help from others! You will do just fine when you go full time too. I have no doubts whatsoever on that. Just made it look so effortless.
Great video . I have a 2003 Lincoln Navigator . I took the back seats out and put a piece of plywood in it .I use it as a enclosed pickup with a place to sleep when I do Flea Markets
TWO WONDERFULLY INSPIRING PEOPLE! 👍💕. This is such a great video in every way! This creative woman proves there is no limit to what you can accomplish if you persevere! 🌟🌸🦋
Great work, Debra! Loved the table and the legs were so smart! And thanks, Bob, for another video! We are all learning from you! I’m almost ready for the women’s RTR in my minivan turned camper!
I love these interviews! People are so creative and I love how proud they are of their tiny home builds. So inspirational and extremely doable for anyone!
Ery very nice. What a smart lady!!! I hope she could get into a tribe when she starts her long trips. I know I am old fashion, but life is safer and more enjoyable when you do it with others.
I love my 2005 Explorer, wich has 170k miles. I use it as a daily driver, and for weekend getaways. I wonder how much it will last if I continue to take good care of it. I'd like to keep it forever!
Such an inspiring and outgoing lady! She really demonstrates that the most important things to have are a positive attitude and ingenuity - and they're free! I really love her energy and positive vibes. I think she'll do very well on the road.
If you use ice the electric load is tiny. Backpack living is advanced practical minimalism. I like designs that can be removed. This woman is tough enough to pull this off, mentally and physically.
Wow! Bob, you are so right ! Debra you're my inspiration ☺ I've been thinking about part timing. What I've seen here is something that is so doable for me. The level of financial commitment and carpentry skill factor to assemble are both within my means. Best to you both ! Mary
Maybe you covered this and I missed it since you are an Amazon vendor. Amazon has bought Whole Foods. Whole foods now have installed lockers for Amazon deliveries. Nomads, snow birds, vacationers, homeless, etc can order something from Amazon and go pick it up at Whole Foods. It can't be large boxes, electronics, nutritional supplements, some supplies, books, clothes, whatever people need they can have a place for delivery. It requires an Amazon Prime membership which is less than $15/month, reduces shipping charges and has other benefits. That might help people get their needs met.
All I can find about this is that at certain locations of Whole Foods you can order food through Amazon and go and pick up your order there, or they will bring your groceries to your car in the parking lot also.
Wow! First I think Debra herself is inspiring with her great attitude towards life! What a great setup! I never would have thought all you could do with this vehicle! Screen and all! Thank you Debra, Thank you for sharing! God bless you in your future travels! Love to see what you do with a van! Have fun! Enjoy!
Bob, I love your videos! I often sleep in my Tesla while working 16 hour shifts and when traveling. I have gained so much knowledge on how to make it more functional and comfortable!
It's watching videos like these that make me believe that this lifestyle can be done w/o any previous nomad experience! I absolutely believe 100% that I can do this; unfortunately a nomadic lifestyle is such an alien idea to my family that they fully believe it's impossible for me to do. I'll just have to prove the negative nancys in my family wrong!
Very creative use of space in her Ford Explorer! I’d been researching coolers and her Yeti is on my list to buy for my conversion van. Excellent and informative video, Bob. Debra is a really neat lady-really thoughtful!
Debra, Love your energy..I am in process of doing what you have done...I am 73 excellent health. I have an SUV (no 4x4 though) will probably move into the SUV for several months, to save money from my social security, then look for a good used Class C (short 25-29 ft) motorhome. Will probably go to Payson Az first, beautiful there. A lovely RV park, that I have been to many times, when I lived in Phoenix..So much cooler in payson..Maybe I will see you on the Road, sometime..Good Luck to You !
Love this this, thanks Bob for sharing Debra with us, so awesome, I love that so many people find it easier to incorperate this lifestyle through their backpacking experiences. It just makes it so much easier to become the minimalist you need to be to live on wheels.
I can so relate to this lovely lady. Bob, you are inspiring me, too. I like the fact this is something for everyone...part time or full time. Ease into it or full time. I love her sunshade idea!
I got my Ford Explorer packed & ready for the road just an idea I had for extra storage use the roof rack w/cargo container free up the space in the vehicle to stretch out 🌼
I am a tent camper but thinking seriously of building out my little SUV like this. One thing that I do when tent camping and would totally work for SUV camping as well - I carry a hot water bottle for those cold nights. I fill it with hot water, place it in the foot of my sleeping bag and it warms the bag up nicely. When I go to bed, the foot area is toasty, I pull the bottle up and hug it until I get warmed up.
Really inspiring, Debra! I've been planning how to do this to my 03 Mountaineer for a while. Love so many things about your build! Thank you for sharing and safe travels!!
cool, and God bless, and I used to have an explorer and slept in it few time just by folding back seat down and use an air mattresses, just something simple !
this is a wonderful video. I have been watching your videos on and off for a while now and have seen this video before. I thought about getting a van but ended up with an suv then I saw this video again and this is what I want to do I am excited I really would love to travel part time and boondock and see different places in the U.S. escpecially out west and try to get to one of your gatherings. I am so excited to be one step closer!
Thank you for your video. Your set up is exactly what I am looking for. I do not like it when the bed takes up all the space. I like that you have it set up as a twin bed and you can also sit on it. I like that you have the toilet by itself. I plan on putting a little curtain around the toilet so that it is its own space. I am considering putting a foot sink from Walmart next to the toilet to give it a feeling of a bathroom. I also like the open area that you have to walk around. It doesn't look clutter and messy. You did a fantastic job. I too plan on doing this to my SUV Escape.
Came back and watched again. What exactly is boon docking ? The little potty was interesting also subbing as a chair. Thanks so much Bob for all the interviews and encouragement. We got to start somewhere and this looks like it for me. Blessings, Teri
I love her creativity but correct me if I'm wrong I don't think that insulation she pointed out to us twice does anything to keep her warmer. Anybody else notice that?
I’m so inspired by Debra. She worked out all the necessities. I look at this video often, a real good interview.
That's the same way that I do my bag of ice when I go camping..... Id love to hear an update on your life 😁
Debra is super cool and is an inspiration! Also a super model! Looks like she is having fun and that is what its all about,,a good life.

I’m happy for you Debra . Living the new AMERICAN Dream . Hope to see you sometime an maybe Bob !! Appreciate your channel .
Debra is very inspirational and she has great ideas. Very nice video!
Love Debra. Like her I am a part timer. I camp in my SUV, van and a teardrop travel trailer. I am retired and can go anywhere. I love doing this.
Love, love Debra's energy and ingenuity. What a gr8 build, & w/o any help from others! You will do just fine when you go full time too. I have no doubts whatsoever on that. Just made it look so effortless.
Clever lady! I love her enthusiasm. She'd make a great friend. Thanks again Bob for another great video interview!
Kudos to this strong gracious woman!
I had no idea the Yeti coolers were that efficient. Wow! Pretty neat little budget set up.
Thanks Deborah for the tour. I got so many ideas! I especially like the light under the bed for the storage. Hope you’re out there having fun!
Debra is a gogeter! She has taken the time to learn and then put her own spin on it too. And I'm glad you are a HAPPY camper and traveler.
I like the slide out table, and the legs are ingenious.
IK, R?
Best idea, so simple and cheap......
Hi, I live in South Africa and I love your van conversions. Big fan, thanks.
So many great ideas for those of us on a tight budget! Thanks. Gonna steal that awning idea for my window!
Great work, Debra! Loved the table and the legs were so smart! And thanks, Bob, for another video! We are all learning from you! I’m almost ready for the women’s RTR in my minivan turned camper!

Tita Linda Absolutely. ..!
She could use black PVC pipe for your shade tarp and put a shower connection on the end and toss the 2 liter bottle.
Nice build.
Cyndi Foore I was thinking the same! Paint it black to warm the water😉
where would the water come from?
@@parrallel_perceptions from the same place the water in the 2L bottle came from.
Impressive that Debra did all that herself. Looks very cozy.
She had some really great ideas. She has minimalism down to a science!
Put your shower water in a BLACK PVC pipe, where you ALREADY have your shade PVC pipe. Attach your shower hose.
Get back in your pot
What a brilliant arrangement this creative genius has come up with! ❤️ This is a true House On Wheels! Another great interview. Thanks, Bob! 😁👍🥳
Great idea on screen for the back! Women power love her enthusiasm and her pride shows through.
Great ideas and I love all what she has done. Love the pullout table and the legs too. Thanks so much and very inspiring!!!
Thank you Bill and Debra. This is a great video!
I love the simple slide- out table idea for food prep. What an awesome, practical idea.
Slide out table is brilliant idea ...Thank you Bob ! You rock Debra God bless you both
I loved that! Perfect height too for someone like me with some disabilities to just pull up a camp chair and make dinner.
I had a used 96 Ford explorer 4x4 I took for diving trips...got that baby over two hundred thousand....loved that explorer...you got a goodie!
I love my 2005 Explorer, wich has 170k miles. I use it as a daily driver, and for weekend getaways. I wonder how much it will last if I continue to take good care of it. I'd like to keep it forever!
Love the awning! Very creative set up! -Lisa Shelton

DEBRA: GREAT IDEAS!
BOB: Debra is well-spoken & would be a true asset as a RTR speaker

There's a lot of inspiration in this video! All of the features in this vehicle are well thought out. Outstanding!
Fantastic!! Deborah is a clever and lovely lady. Thanks for sharing her and her rig, Bob.
A very well spoken lady, I enjoyed the video!
I love it! I bought a minivan and am in the process of getting it ready. Loved the big screen idea for the back.❤️
what type of van did you buy?
Elizabeth Aurelia I bought a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country. I love it!
where are good spots to camp in cities?
ad stealth camp ... use the blacked out shades in windows
8595367542 love to talk , about suggestions
You're going to ware that weather seal off. Just use magnets. I use an as seen on TV door screen for my driver and passenger window in my car.

I know this video is over a year old, but boy, did I learn a lot. Thank you so much for what you do.
Awesome Debra! Your smile says it all. Great video Bob. Thank you!
Thanks Bob, have a great day!
Awesome!! I've been intimidated by trying to figure out how to convert my SUV on my own, but I love your creativity and simplicity. Great ideas!
It's watching videos like these that make me believe that this lifestyle can be done w/o any previous nomad experience!

Another awesome interview with another wonderful inspiring individual! Your Channel Rocks Bob!
Love the easy pull outs. Gonna start buying reflectives and just regular screening before I even get a van. Have plenty of those Dollar Tree clips.
That is a nice set up. Not too big and not to small. I would love to do that.
This was the most interesting tour, even better than a brand new showroom vehicle.
Great job Debra ,I hope you have a brilliant summer!
Thanks Bob for inspiring so many people.
Such a nice gal with clever ideas! She tho't everything out well, it seems, and did a great job! I like her enthusiasm!
Very creative use of space in her Ford Explorer! I’d been researching coolers and her Yeti is on my list to buy for my conversion van. Excellent and informative video, Bob. Debra is a really neat lady-really thoughtful!
Phil Capling do happen to know which yeti model she has ?
Debra, Love your energy..I am in process of doing what you have done...I am 73 excellent health. I have an SUV (no 4x4 though) will probably move into the SUV for several months, to save money from my social security, then look for a good used Class C (short 25-29 ft) motorhome. Will probably go to Payson Az first, beautiful there. Loved your interview with Debra!! I love her attitude and zest for life!!!
I love her design! She's the kind of fellow woman camper you hope to run across.

I keep getting more and more impressed by you Debra! Thanks Bob! Hope to see you both at the RTR in 2019!
I'm so glad I found this cast. I just purchased a used dodge durango to weekend travel in, now I have ideas to make it homey. Thanks!
I got my Ford Explorer packed & ready for the road just an idea I had for extra storage use the roof rack w/cargo container free up the space in the vehicle to stretch out 🌼
This is wonderful for outfitting my Excursion. Thank you Debra for very clever ideas.

Thanks for sharing. I've been looking for ideas for my Explorer .
Great Video with really LOTS of great ideas. Thank you, Debra, for sharing! Thanks, Bob, for all of your great Videos!
What a great and inspiring video!!! Thanks so much for sharing :)
Bob you have inspired and touch so many people with your videos,,,,Thank GOD for Bob.
I really like this screen idea. Also, its so great how Bob gives us a male and female prespective of nomadic living.
Really inspiring, Debra! I've been planning how to do this to my 03 Mountaineer for a while. Love so many things about your build! Thank you for sharing and safe travels!!
Once again, a great tour! Thank you.
Wonderful interview! She really has many great ideas and tips for any camper build! Thanks for sharing!
cool, and God bless, and I used to have an explorer and slept in it few time just by folding back seat down and use an air mattresses, just something simple !
Really nice, clever ideas Debra, Way to Go !!! Very Inspirational...thanks for sharing
this is a wonderful video.
Deborah, you are my kind of lady!! Great job. Hoping to do something similar with my Honda Pilot. Great inspiration. Thank you for sharing with Bob.
Love this! So many great ideas! Debra is awesome and inspiring....and I found myself smiling the entire video. :D
Yes i felt the same way. Its so impressive what she has created
My wife and I are so impressed. So many clever innovations! Hope we meet you on the trail.
Fabulous, Debra. This is my favorite so far. Great ideas. Be blest☦️👩🏻🦳🐾
Fabulous conversion! Enjoyed and very inspired!
So inspiring! She is a bird of a feather! Love it!
