    haha, the B&Q masking tape making an appearance at the bottom of the trem arm. I bet that guitar is mightily relieved to be in the hands of someone that knows what they are doing. Its replacement went to someone who knew what they are doing to get set up and have the frets levelled etc. Best 90 odd quid I ever spent.

    Normally I just use a block of wood in the back to hold the bridge, but that's pretty clever with the post-it notes. Using old drum sticks (or any round dowel) as handles for allen keys is pretty clever too. Much cheaper than buying a set of T handled hex tools.

      Hey Saad, yeah I learned so much too, Phill is incredible. Not getting the clipping issues you mentioned on my system, but I’ve invested in and improved my audio and video since this video was released. I’m much happier with it now, I want the best for my subscribers. Thanks for the heads up 🙏👍

    Great video and superb tips. Can you do more vidz with the amazing Phill in the future? Learned so much and strats with trems are a nightmare no matter what make they are, so these tips are gold dust 👍👍👍

      @@ScottPoleyMusic Superb stuff - will look forward to watching them. Finding a great luthier/tech you can rely on makes so much difference to your ability to play and love your guitars. The difference a well set up guitar makes - whether it cost £30 or £3,000 - is something you only learn with experience OR from the internet. Now back in my day you had to join a secret society with weird rituals to find a decent guitar tech 🤣🤣🤣

    What was choking at 12 fret? I assumed frets high.

    • @ScottPoleyMusic
      @ScottPoleyMusic  Год назад +1

      Actually no high frets, it was more to do with the neck set angle (see the other videos in the series).

    Heavier strings don't mean better tone.
    Billy Gibbons uses sevens? Does anyone think his tone ain't good?
    "Why do you so hard, boy?" Asked B.B King from Billy when he used to use tens. B.B King. Another one using sevens.
    But tons of great advice here about setting your guitar up.

    • @ScottPoleyMusic
      @ScottPoleyMusic  Год назад +2

      Aaaah the string debate!!
      Billy Gibbons can make anything sound good, he’s Billy Gibbons!! String gauges definitely have an impact on the tone, Rick Beato has a great video about it.
      My experience is thicker strings give a fatter sound and allow me to dig into the strings harder. I use 10-52 gauge on most electric guitars and that gives me the sound I like.
      It’s all down to the player and the sound you’re going for!! What gauge do you use?? I tried 7’s once and could barely play a chord in tune 🤣 thanks for your comment Maestör!!
