Call me a whacker, I like mine got it on ebay for $109. It's easy to program via the keypad, great audio and the battery life is great. I use it on the daily I also get good audio reports from fellow hams. I guess there are some folks out there under the impression that is a P25 radio it clearly states that it is a analog VHF/UHF handheld. It doesn't look too bad on the spectrum analyzer as well. Anyway, the bottom line is that when I press either of the PTT it works, build quality is not bad granted it's not a Motorola APX-8000 like I had at work, but I like it. Just my 2 cents worth. 73...
I agree with you. The transceiver is not 12 watts. I connected it to my MFJ-849 and maximum was 7 to 8 watts. The programming software lacks many features for radio settings. Best to skip the software and perform programming directly with the keypad.
You got a return, mine came with the radio in that top piece of cardboard you pulled out first. Id take my $110 Moto APX 8k over any Baofeng. Ive dropped and kicked it a few times and it still has no issues. About the only complaints are the stupid accessory port and proprietary data cable and speaker mic. You got a turd, probably why it was boxed like a return. The plus side is APX 8k radio holsters from Motorola fir this radio with a tad bit of trimming.
The Baofeng AR-152 is a radio that has a use case that I'm a fan of. It's a UV5R for dudes with huge hands. Given my glove size is XXL or XXXL, the uv5r is a cramp inducing pain machine. The AR-152 is comfortable to hold and use. It's a pretty sketchy PRC152 clone, but as a uv5r class radio its pretty awesome.
I wonder if someone returned it after having problems and the seller just turned around and sent it back out. That might explain the packaging and it not working properly.
I've heard from others that theirs were packaged the same way. Mine also still had the peel offs on the screens and all of the accessories seemed factory prepped. I'm fairly sure that this is the standard mode that they ship in.
i had the same problem with two batteries. i finally today got replacement batteries and it works fine now. Our repeater is on 147.140 and when i would key up it would shut the radio off. both batteries the same. i sent them a video of it. they asked for the info from behind the stickers on the batteries. They said the frequency was shutting it off and it was in the battery electronics. I bought this months ago and finally got replacement batteries today and it now works. I just can't figure out how to turn it off. It seems to always be on from when i install the battery. if i turn the switch on top off, it is still on.

Put the battery on using the screw driver provided , ( nice touch as Im sure people would complain if it didn't have one ) All worked fine. simple to use like a UV5R.really Now unlike a lot of folks, I read the specs and saw that it used a USB-C accessories port, so got a Mic and a programming cable too. Also asked seller for the software and was messaged a link to download it. If you are paying for the software, You are being ripped off ! The spelling ,mistakes on the box also continue to the manual and radio menu.. well its usual for Chinese products is it not ??? Radio seems easy to use and menu navigation is ok BUT doesn't tie up to the menu number or operation's in the hand book !!! Radio does Scramble mode but you cant seem to select what number to use ( 1-8) Another feature that may be a good idea, is that it an be a Cross-band Repeater.. Input on VHF and output on UHF or you can switch around. Its still a work in progress to see what it does and how it performs. The USB-C data port is poor. The mic plug is a tight fit and need a good push to make contact.. Programming cable seems a better fit. ( my cable is just a generic C type radio programming cable from eBay ) The manual is very poor !!!!!! No pages on Button lay out or screen. So odd letters you have to guess what they COULD mean. Value for money ?? Not really BUT If your looking for a COP type radio for being at a cop car showing event, then this is a cheap way to enhance your uniform I think.

I almost ordered one but Senhaix branded. Glad I didn't. However, I did ordered the AR-152 and it's my favorite Baofeng. Also ordered the Earmor headset with the PTT to go with it. Thank you for taking time and investing 💰 to review radios and accessories. I take you recommendations and opinions seriously before ordering. Take care and keep the good reviews coming.
Great review of a really crappy radio. Definitely see why you were so frustrated with packaging and performance. I guess we won’t be seeing a series of operator videos like we did for the VX-6 and H-3. Keep up the good fight. 73.

if i charge the battery for a bit, it resets it and it will turn on again

I actually like the AR-152 quite a lot. Aside from the UV-21R it's my 2nd favorite Baofeng.
