3:04 THANK YOU, THANK, YOU!!!!!! WORKED ON THIS 3 DAYS, & WAS TOTALLY FRUSTRATED. HUBBY PASSED LAST YEAR, & I'M DOING STUFF MYSELF. AT 70, I CAN DO "SOME" ELECTRICAL & PLUMBING. THIS KNIFE HAD ME CLUELESS. ITS TOGETHER, THANKS TO YOUR VIDEO. 👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the video. I bought this knife yesterday & had the same experience. My confusion was due to the diagram on the card being incorrect -- it shows the flat carrier spring with the protrusion pointing downward -- exactly opposite of the way it has to be for the blade to slide properly. I imagine this is the reason a lot of people have problems putting it together.
I used to have a sweet carpet knife with a blade that was a breeze to change. Unfortunately, some jackass took it from my department and never brought it back so I had to switch to this knife. I struggled for ten minutes, muttering all the while about the knife-lifting bastard the whole time before admitting defeat. Thanks for the video!
After struggling for an hour went to my how to fix it Bible..You tube..Thank you so much!! The directions on the package show the bubble 'down" ..I guess it should have worked if you inserted the blade under..but it didn't show that. ❤😆
Hey I really appreciate the video but even after watching I had a hard time getting the blade II come out of the knife. I'm sure a lot of other people having the same issue so what I came up with is that I had two bladestogether and didn't even realize it. These blades connect to each other very very easily and it's hard to tell. anyone out there still having the same problem I was having check to see if you had two blades vs. One. Again I know this sounds stupid but it's a valid issue that myself and others probably had.
Awesome! I couldn’t believe that someone actually made a video on this took a stab at it and there it was a very first one thank you so much. I just went through this yesterday with a craftsman carpet knife that was made exact same way I took it apart the first time to get the cardboard off of it and change put a blade in it and it just exploded in my hands didn’t know which way the pieces went .
The the first "funky piece" is commonly called a blade carrier. The second "funky piece" is a tension spring. It rides in the knob channel not perpendicular to it. The "washer" is the tension extension-retraction knob. The "circle thing" is an alignment tab. And the carpet fibers you cut from your carpet during the demo ...... well that's just called ..... carelessness. Thanks for your do-hickey (instructional video).
looks like you put the tension spring in upside down. its supposed to arc away from the knife handle so it contacts the knob at 2 points on the end. I went back to the tear down at the beginning to double check.
You don't have to take it apart when changing the blade. But you do have to fully extend the blade in order to open up the housing to get to the new blades. It opens the same as every other carpet knife.
I would have returned the product but for this video. I had the same issues removing the wrapper. And by the time I safely unpacked it there were parts all over. Solution put one of the three blades in there and remove the tightly gripped packing.

We need to get a Brightly Lit Demonstration. and with a Very close-up picture while assembling the pieces especially the black slider. and.... slow down.... slow down
Could've had several rolls of carpet out in the garbage in the time to get this piece of jerkwad junk assembled... not one word or pix or info... just several paras of foreign language crap, don't know how their lawyers let this out of house, gotta be some ER runs out there... too hard to return with COV hassle... thank you very much for the video... last Craftsmen product for me... they used to be GOLD.
This guy in this video does not know how to put one of these utility knives together. The instructions that he gives to put the blade in and assemble it is completely wrong. Go watch a different video. First of all the rubber grommet goes on the extra blade and once you close it up the little thing does not go hugging the knife it goes upward hugggingbthe knob thingy ma jig
sausage man I agree!! I have a video coming out Sharing the most common knives in the flooring biz and my top pics. I’m thinking your “dolphin” knife might be called the “cardinal” knife in my area. If so great knife and the only one to ever give me stitches!
@@CarpetExpertBlueprint I've tried that knife you guys use with the 4 sided blades and I didn't like it, it Was to to sharp for me actually scary knife lol yeah be cool to see the different knives

Thank you. Glad I was not the only one having trouble with this knife. I appreciate the instructional video.
Ditto

I had two blades stuck together too, it seemed like with some kind of adhesive. This entire thing is just ridiculous.

Thank you! I was having issues too, and even considered returning it!
yeah the blot NOT going through the blade was my hang up... just that little nub didn't seem enough ... THANKS for the vid ....
Thank you! I was ready to say the heck with it!!
Is it possible to replace that plastic adjusting wheel with a metal wing nut or just a metal nut?
Thanks. That thing hit the floor and I spent too long looking down to fix it I need a chiropractor 👨⚕️😂😂
Thanks a million for the video. I really needed this for sure. Very screwy set up for sure but it works.
Thanks man. not sure who draws that diagram, probably someone just as confused as us
THANK YOU. What instructions there were on the back of this package were a JOKE.

Yes, the top half of the handle pivots on the screw to open. The instruction card needs more words to explain this!
I figured it out . And it works too😅
Great help!😅 2:53

Thank you
The spring under the knob should be pointing up, not wrapping around the knife!
The package instructions say to put the little flat piece down for some reason. The instructions are wrong haha thanks for the video!

Firstly, your pic is upside down. Secondly, you posted this twice too many times.

My blades seem glued together
You put the spring under the knob upside down, I put a bolt through the lanyard hole to keep this piece of crap from splitting apart at the base.
Yeah I thought he was going to assemble it WITHOUT the blade which is the whole point of putting it back together
SON OF A BITCH!!!! 3X'S HE DOES IT I CAN'T!!! CAMERA Angle YO CAMERA ANGLE !!!!
Far to time consuming! in the uk we use dolphin knives super fast blade change and holds 18 blades in the handle.

Almost forgot... BE REAL CAREFUL WHEN YOU RETRACT THE BLADE... IT'S NOT ALL THE WAY SAFE... UNLESS YOU GET THE LAST LITTLE MISERABLE CLICK COMPLETED.
Literally the worst fucking knife to put together it wouldn’t work worth a fuck lol
thanks ....so frustrating ...I got it and it, works great. thanks.
THANK YOU SO MUCH! Best video explanation
