I have one of those .25acp vest pocket pistols. I thought it was missing a small guide rod on the recoil spring for the longest time, but one day I was cleaning all my guns and decided to get a deep clean on the little colt. After a good soak the guide rod fell out of the receiver side . Looks like it was assembled backwards probably 40 years ago and had glued itself in place. Now she runs like a champ.

Love these old blue steel early 1900s pistols. Wish I had the money to collect them. Nobody is making good stuff like this today.

Something about the Colt regarding the reverse tip up safety. If you pull the slide all the way back then tip the safety backwards it will lock the slide open. From here you can insert a loaded magazine, then tip the safety back to release the slide. This will allow you to load the gun without muzzling your palm or fingers while using an overhand grip on the slide.
