I am from Brazil and a football fan of Stoichkov, top scorer of the 94 cup with 6 goals and 4th place in the cup, before Bulgaria had never won a world cup game, but the generation of soitchkov and company deserved to be a cup finalist, football very nicely.
I am Italian, and I say if Bulgaria would have not lost against Italy, they would have beaten Brazil and win World Cup 94'... they where a great team in 1994 with Stoichkov.
😢 true but I was kinda hard having to play against the other team and the homosexual in Black. But at least we made history when Mexicos Door broke and had to be Changed during the game 😂. And his interview before the game vs Germany "ein zu zwei zu Drun(BAM in Bulgarian)" on German TV was just LMFAO and it was 1:2 😂 ein and zwei in German so he got the end result right 🎉

@@superlex611 from 90-94 he was for sure. After the world cup he wasnt the same. In 94/95 he was good but not as good as he used to be. After that he wasnt anymore on world class level like he was before.
But still he was a fascinating player i loved to watch. Pure entertainment.
I recall that like a year ago Mr. Stoichkov was working here for the UDN channel and I saw how this man that was reknown to have a terrifying character cry like a boy onc he heard the news his Idol Johan Cruyff had died. What a legend

Lubo Penev, our striker, was fighting testicular cancer by '94 (Lubo was the one to give the pass to Emil Kostadinov, who scored in 89 minute, 59 second of the last game of the qualifications for USA 94 against France. the game was played in Paris on Park de Prince. We needed a win, it was 1:1 until the last second of regular time. Hristo, Lubo and Emil have grown up together in CSKA). Lubo missed USA 94. Hristo gave him his golden boot award from USA 94.
Another all time great Bulgarian player - Trifon Ivanov. I feel like crying when I think of it... He passed away suddenly 5 years ago. Hristo was crying like a baby.

Stoichkov was a class player under that cruyff dream team. Him, laudrup and romario were deadly. Stoichkov was one of the most elegant technical players ever.
I haven't been a soccer fan for long, but his goal against Mexico in the World Cup told me he was one of the best!
Loved Stoichkov after seeing him at USA 94... I used to get mixed up with him an Gheorgi Hagi... I think they have similar styles an defo look similar..... two of my favourites from the 90s for sure...

Stoichkov was one of my favourite players when I was growing up in Ireland in the 80/90s. Absolutely loved the way he played. Tried to copy him out in the garden!!! Not only was he technically brilliant but he played with such passion. You could see he loved playing football. He was so unpredictable & was always on the verge of losing his temper haha. A lunatic at times!!! But boy could he play. His left foot was precise and he could hit the ball like a rocket. Lethal finisher, great at running with the ball and he was a winner. What a legend. Great for Bulgaria(when underdogs) and for a top side like Barca. That Barca dreamteam was exceptional with him, Laudrup(so underrated), Koeman, Pep and Romario(for a short time), Bakero and other class players in it. The football they played was amazing. Loved that jersey with the white stripe down the arm.

Van Basten with a broken ankle won the Serie A title as the absolute protagonist that year and he didn't even have the chance to play Champions League. If anyone deserved the bdor that year instead of him it was Baresi, not Stoichkov

Fantastic player with a great personality. I really enjoyed his occasional antics and the way he always looked a little mad/angry, be it with the referee, his opponents or sometimes his teammates. However, you could see that beneath that, there was a good man and a true champion.
