This video may show it being lit and shot but they dont light it anymore from what I gather as a spark from the fireball burnt/damaged the boathouse nearby.
This trebuchet is dope because of the time period it is from. The narrative enhances the story that the trebuchet tells of its creators and operators from our long gone history. I thought the wheel winder's tragic monologue was especially moving, no pun intended.
3rd time today I've been to Warwick Castle and each time for one reason or another this has not been working.. I was beginning to think it was just a mock up for exhibition so nice to see it working...
So three times you went through that fucked up story and didn't get satisfaction. You can't get any closer to hell without being burned (and tossed to some place out of sight or even out of site)
@@123dodo4 :) its just a silly comment anyway, you could argue that engineers are inventors and that scientist (in particular physicists) researched the laws that could be exploited.

Ahh they are unloading the rope. Not sure why they this cant be done in the same motion. I guess if you have the rope twisted twice over the axle and then pull at the end while they run to the left side. You use the same motion for pulling the liver down but can also unload the rope immediatly, much faster ;)
You aren't going to be sniping units with that thing unless its already set up in a fortification and happens to be sitting in the right direction. This is meant to pound enemy fortifications or rarely, aim at immobile siege engines. It is accurate enough to do so.
can anyone film this awesome thing properly my god... uhh... show the projectile flying the whole distance and build something in the area you know it lands in that is wide enough that it wont miss and let's see it's destructive power!!! uhhh
10 years later.... fire 👺
Haha... Yeah
They missed the target because the battle was already over by the time they were able to fire a shot. 😂
Fr
Exactly 🤦♀️
Fast fwd to 8:00 and skip all the Hype---
Thanks.
Yes. And all this effort for approx. bridging 300m. In this load time thousand of opponents passing by and they hallo...
The longer the foreplay, the bigger the fun! 😁😁😁
I bet the crowd wish that they could of jumped forward and skipped all the hype.
And still not seeing how far did the thing go
Just like softcore porn, all build up and no finish.
Should have hit something atleast
Sat through 8 minutes just to NOT see the flaming projectile! 2018 has NOT been nice to me, bring on 2019!
Hahahaha exactly how I felt! I hope they didnt have to pay for the tickets to watch this borefest, I myself want that 8 mins of my life back
This video may show it being lit and shot but they dont light it anymore from what I gather as a spark from the fireball burnt/damaged the boathouse nearby.
... Hahahhahaha
DO NOT WISH FOR 2020
2019 was pretty fine tho
Lol...yeah
I guess I must be a medieval geek, I thought that was cool to watch. Maybe some day I can witness it firsthand. Thanks for sharing!
The fire ball flew so high it took the ball a decade for it to land in Australia to start a fire
This would have been better if the audio had been replaced with the sounds from a golf tournament.
Still, fun video!
Dunno why people hate the narrative. But I quite like it..
The man really puts some heart into it, he's like WHO'S WITH ME?? **five people in the background saying yeeah**

I was going to say something like: "Skip the first 8 minutes."...but you can skip all 9.
Why the fuck did the guy who made this like this?
Hahaha have to agree lol.
I was there last week, it’s all lit up and decorated for the Christmas period, beauuuutiful
I thought you were gonna say they are still winding it up😂
ANNOUNCER: Where was I? Oh yes! We will destroy our enemys where they stand! LOL

I went on a tour at one point, and they stopped using it because even though small projectiles it was damaging the grounds
If I had to listen to that speil twice I would tie myself to it.
You had just the one job. Just the one...…...
To wind the wheels
@@theepicyoutubization no...to get it all on video I suppose!!
He got the whole trebuchet on video so stop whining please! 😁😁😁
When simple mechanical stuff amazed people.. thats when scientist and inventor come in..
Actually, that's engineers.

0:36 ”Well spent money” 😅
Launching at 7:58
The kid saying "beautiful!" is the best part 😁
Launch at 7:50, don't waste your time watching the rest.
This is actually a training video about how to make someone snap their mobile phone in half within 8.00 minutes using annoying dialogue only.
I skipped ahead
Did they just play Metal Gear Solid theme at the end?!!
Put Usain Bolt in that and you get an oversized machine gun.
Can I borrow this thing? I need it to teach the opposite neighbours not to park in front of my driveway! 😁😁😁
Actually if you attach a car to it...it will launch the car quite a distance! Lol!!!
Only me who is bitterly disappointed the crowd didn't yell Warwick for Warwick!! when they loosed the fireball? Get involved!
All that anticipation and you can’t see the projectile!
Yes I saw the flaming projectile launched, you have to know how it works in order to see where the "payload" is going. 😁
Aahhh, the good old days
BEAUTIFUL
I was one the mice in the wheel in 2008😃
Why dont u show us how the wood for the trebuchet was cut while ur at it...
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
nice video friend
Thanks!
i wish the dude hade said as he was bout to fire "'Send these foul beasts into the abyss !"
imagine being a dirt poor unpaid peasant that had to wind up siege machines in a giant mouse wheel for weeks straight
Even on fast forward this is an anticlimax 🤣🤣🤣
I love trebuchet
Been there and was one of the lucky people who got to be a hamster to arm it ...an awesome weapon...
Hes so hyped and others just arents 🤣😭
Lancashire FTW! 🤘
I’ve watched this at Warwick when I was younger
Eight minutes I'll never get back. At least I FF'd it. 🤷🏼♂️🤓😎✌🏻
The song is Imagine the Fire - Dark Knight Rises, Hans Zimmer.
un ingénieux système de contrepoids
Yeah it IS VISIBLE guys. This time, unlike the other video..
You should have dressed the lady in the wheel in a hamster suit. Add a little humor.
In the Words of Monty Python...get on with it!
7 mins into the battle the defending forces destroy the artillery.
THAT IS AWESOME!
ohoho, beautiful!
My lord why does this man bleed our ears with such cabbage rubbish? I have no heart for war now!!!!
Should launch the speaker
Where da forest fire...
Aight i need a trebuchet
Nevrchi de Tresbvchet plantois sien estendart !
j'estois là !
3:57 why is there a guy flying?
Should launch camera man and announcer away with that artifact
Now watch this in 0.25 speed.
Thats the ost of metal gear solid?
My only question is ...... we're did that go? Like it was on fire then lunched.....?? Hope they didn't burn down the forest lol
Did they ever check if it caused fire?
Was that a UFO that streaked left to right at 8:10 - 8:11?
an alien fly or an alien bird, but an alien.
@@smariscal24 definitely an alien

Yes

I want my time back. What a rip!!
I want a job running in the wheel.

THEY LAUNCHED THE FUCKING APPOLO MISSIONS FASTER THAN THIS
How accurate
8:05 for those who want to escape the worthless overhyped drama
Shame the announcer wasn't the target.
Didn't see the trajectory or impact!
1:57 is when it launches
3:09 that hurts
NOt sure why they kept running. that weight was up already?!

I read this as “tree bucket”
The oldest treadmill.
For sum unknown reasons, yt is recommending me sum medieval/antiquity siege weaponry (Hell I love this one!)
long time...after shot.
Wonder what they do if they set something on fire
They would probably talk about it for 80 minutes before some dude went there with a bucket of water to put out that fire.
Well that 9 mins I won't get back
Can you imagine how I felt actually being there!
that version would have been to slow and to heavy and impractical to use for war. i think they used a rope spring type that was much more moveable.

Ummm... what happened? I think I missed it 🤔
I should have read the comments first. I'll never get that 8:30 mins back.
Would have been better at night. We could have actually seen it
Took forever to launch
On the time it took to launch, the helicopter gunship was invented and then rendered obsolete.
8:02 launch
All that for the camera man to fuck up the shot🤬
Its feet per second, not miles per hour
Is this prince charming from shrek
The announcer sounds like Cullen from Dragon age
Just launch the fucking thing already
Less chat more splat
