Just rewatched your video. I replaced the inlet valve 2 weeks ago and it all worked fine. The valve went bad. Today it fails a continuity test. Can a bad diode cause a valve to fail? If so then I will have to replace the diode but it is a 50 dollar part so I don’t want to if it is not necc
Pretty good video! Thanks! I had already figured the solenoid was bad because it was a typical sound that I was used to hearing over the last 15 years, that I wasn't hearing anymore. It would be pretty easy to check for power going to the solenoid, but in my case I bought the fridge new over 15 years ago and knew these solenoid were the weak link in the system, so I just rolled the dice and bought a new valve. All is good now, ops check good. I immediately could hear the solenoid actuate and after I cleared the ice obstruction at the top of the fill hose I'm in business. I suppose with a bad valve water sitting stagnant in the fill line will tend to ice up at the top...so yeah, make sure you clear the ice at the tube where it goes to the ice maker.

So. I have no water and no Ice. This happened when we moved in abt 3 yrs ago. I replaced the water inlet, new filter and it all worked. Ive been replacing rhe filter and no issues. But here we are again no water, no ice. So i changed the filter and cleared the ice where the hose goes into the ice maker. Still no water. So I replaced the inlet again. I can hear the water dispenser trying to work but still no water. ? ? Water seems to be getting to the filter because i hve removed and replced it a few times and water is dripping from it. Any ideas?.

Good video, but to be a perfectionist you would have had a portable vacuum and cleaned the dust off before ever beginning the repairs. Cannot believe you didn't get all that dust and fire hazard off the coils. If you had been my tech and at least offered to allow me to clean the coils since it is not part of your service call, I would have given your company a big thumbs up and highly recommended you.

I’ve got a Kenmore side by side with water and ice in the door. After replacing my water filter the water dispenser leaked water. I replaced the water valve/coil just like in the video. That fixed the leaky water dispenser. now my ice maker is leaking water inside the freezer. I’m getting ice cubes so the ice maker seems to be working. Any suggestions on what may be wrong?

A lot of videos go over what might be the cause for an ice maker not making ice. One of those reasons could be a clogged water inlet tube leading into the ice maker. That was my problem BUT I can't find in any of your videos that explain why the water inlet tube would freeze over preventing water to enter the ice maker thus not making ice. Everything works but that. Please help.

We bought a used Frigidaire side by side, 5 years old, from a friend. The ice maker worked fine. We got it home and it wasn't getting water to it, however the water dispenser worked fine. After reading the trouble shooting guide, my husband replaced the water valve triple solenoid. ( Part #240531101) They said it might take 24 to 48 hours to work. At 48 hours, my husband checked it, yet again, and the inside where the cubes are made was so hot it burned his hand. What the heck? It was still not getting water, either. It was professionally moved and disconnected. HELP!!!! I really love this refrigerator and the one I got rid of, the ice maker didn't work because it was old. I was really looking forward to ice!!! Ever had this happen and what next? Christy C.

Before jumping into changing these valves check the lines leading to the water filter. I changed out a part that made it necessary to remove these lines. When I went to replace them I inserted the lines too far into the inlet valve. Once I adjusted these, wala....water flow!

How long does it take for the fridge to make ice again
What sorts of test did you do to come up with your diagnosis of faulty inlet valve/diode? With a multimeter, which one did you test and what are the readings?

Any ideas?.
What is the water connection called on the new piece? (The old one is "threaded.")

the new type is a "push in connector"

My unit looks like this one except its black in color, I do see any water going into the ice maker, however I do get water from the water dispenser on the door. What are the part numbers for both parts replaced?
BTW when I push on the dispenser on the door the screw in the ice maker turns.

Same thing for me! Did you find it out?

Ever had this happen and what next?

most people do not know that most fridges today with ice makers have water filters - you may not still have that fridge but make sure with your current one that you change the water filter at least every 6 months

ApplianceVideo.com ...freezer is 20'f. No ice. Water is working. Coils clean. No ice build up. Fan is running. Freezer not freezing, not making ice.
Before jumping into changing these valves check the lines leading to the water filter. I changed out a part that made it necessary to remove these lines. When I went to replace them I inserted the lines too far into the inlet valve. Once I adjusted these, wala....water flow!
