Passion's GRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaAaACE
nice try with that vibrato :D
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Lmao!
LMAO the vibrato
I love that part
Although that is one of my favorite parts of one of my favorite DT songs... I had to laugh.
Get this, this song was written in '85, in Majesty days. These guys wrote this song in their TEENS! Portnoy wrote these drum parts when he was 18 years old. Just mind blowing to think how good at that age. Not to mention he only started drumming at the age of 15. The talent is there, it's so obvious. All of them.
Genius on bass
MP didn't start playing drums at 15 XD LOL
Myung is hauling ass on that bass
The basslines in this song are insane. JM is going at it.
One of my favorite live moments in DT history. The Myung/Portnoy duo delivering a rythm section from the heavens.
“I was there!!!” 😭😭😭
"Banana had killed passion's GrAAAAAAAAAAAPE!"
AHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHHHHHAHHAHAHHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHHAHAHHA
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ahahhaha
"Perception rashenggan mayossssh"
James did this song better at this time almost at 50 than Collins did in 1986 in his 20's
This was Dream Theater at their peak. They are amazing now. But desire to go back to these times
So unfortunate that this didn't make it in the album, would've been my favorite song for sure.
Another Won was never supposed to be on WDADU
Labrie NAILS the verse at 2:00 That sounded badass!
THAT BASS
EEEEEEEPIIIIIIICCCCCCCCCCC!
Imagine the time this song actually came out and how far ahead of its time it was
I can't believe this song is 1 year before Slayer's Reign in Blood album
?
Um... I like Dream Theater and all but they were definitely not the first for this type of music. This song sounds a LOT like something off Permanent Waves by Rush (listen to Natural Science/Tide Pools), and I mean, similarly mindblowing prog was being released before and at the same time... immediately thought of ruclips.net/video/dXsFByRJsos/видео.html but that's mostly due to how I've been listening to that album recently.
Just... King Crimson in general, as well. ruclips.net/video/OxfSC9GybPA/видео.html Larks' Tongues in Aspic is also crazy, and closer to prog metal ruclips.net/video/jX0caf1HvNs/видео.html. DT actually did a cover of that last one too.
@@Cobalt985 awesome
@@Cobalt985 no one did it like DT. Everyone has their influences and make things that have "been done before". Just a matter of opinion. I love Rush. Both bands have absolutely changed my life
john myung destroy's!!
this must part of the instructional DVD: " How to be nineteen and write epic music"
John Myung bass has becoming so subtle compared with those times...
At 3:44 Petrucci and Myung are blending together so perfectly here. With Petrucci laying down awesome swaying majestic rhythm and Myung hitting that bass part so hauntingly(never heard anything quite like that honestly). This shows how those two really practiced their asses off together around the highschool/Berkeley days. Just blows my mind how good these guys are. Huge part of my childhood and early musician daysEPSTEINDIDNTKILLHIMSELF.
Very early Majesty song that did not end up on an album. Petrucci probably thought that it sounded a bit to much like Rush : Geddy Lee could sing that song without a problem. Anyway great song.
+warner kurt Exactly what I thought lol
Iron Maiden + Rush = Another won !!!
Even though I'm a drummer, I'd like to hear the isolated bass guitar track. Damn!! This guy can play...
Dude, that guy is myung!
Every member in this band are high level talented, even mangini(new drummer).
I'm speechless!!! I've been following the band for over 20 years now and this could be quite possibly their best performance. Myung and Portnoy are viciously brutal while Petrucci and Ruddess do what they do!!! LeBrie adds the perfect words without ever taking away anything from the image. The world's most dangerous band!!!
HES BACK BABY!!! Can’t wait to hear this live again!
e pensare che hanno composto questa canzone quando avevano 18 ANNI, incredibile, fenomeni veri
3:30 - 4:23
Fucking awesome
I really love old Dream Theater the best! I still wish they wrote stuff a little more similar to this.
What an incredible amazing musician is John Myung, im just speechless
They play the hell out of this, Portnoy especially. Every single bar has so much attitude, it's wild this song wasn't included on a DT release, it's so good
Digam o que disserem,James Labrie sempre estará no topo, da minha lista de melhores vocalistas.
I was at this show. I’m here because I was listening to this during a 10 mile run this morning and it took me back. They were on fire that night. All of them. LaBrie still had it and it was a magical night. Happy it was filmed for posterity.
I drove to Chicago from Milwaukee all by myself to see them on this tour, and it was the best concert I've seen in my life hands down. They were just phenomenal at this time.
"another one had killed passion's graaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace"
one of their absolute best in my opinion
I have loved these people forever I've seen them live many times always impressive beyond this world
Petrucci used to write amazing compositions not trying to be progressive. Kevin Moore was necessary to form this sound. Their partnership ended a great era of songwriting.
Would love to hear what they would come up with together today.
A lot of their old songs sound like "cyber-punk filmscore metal" to me haha, like what rhapsody of fire does giving their music a medieval fantasy sound. I think the strongest examples of this would be Metropolis pt 1 and learning to live.
That songs sound really dramatic, just how cyber-punk plots tend to be, you can even feel a "musical dramatic structure" with an introduction, rising, climax and ending. Add Kevin Moore's futuristic synth sounds, Petrucci's Mega Man style compositions (like the instrumental section on metropolis pt 1 and the last solos of learning to live) and voilà, you have a cyber-punk filmscore metal song xD. Well, what do i know, im not even a musician, i'll better go and wait for sleep
@@coda5934 that does not describe this song at all lol
@@diegoarana5862 Maybe i exageratted when i said "a lot of their old songs"
I agree. Jordan just noodles too much. It's almost unbearable at times. I miss Kevin and how he complimented the music and did not try to play over it.
I think it is so amusing that this song was written in their early days, which usually denotes imperfect musicianship and loosely executed hits. For God's sake man, they were in their 20s. Blows my mind.
This song has a very strong "Rush meets Iron Maiden" kind of a vibe to it, which I really like. Also I wish Myung would always play this ferociously. He is such a beast!
It's so refreshing hearing the crowd going mad at 4:52 after LaBrie's long high note. But his reaction at 4:57 is even better: "Yeah, I'm badass, thanks guys!"
Love this song
They're at their best here.
Classic favourite
One of my all time favorite Dream Theater songs and the guitar solo is amazing.
Master Myung, the man is a genius. Classic song by the best band in the world. LONG LIVE DT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That solo... Alex Lifeson would be proud.
Dream theater was untouchable in these days
SCORE
probably the greatest dream theater performances
This DVD is just awesome to the beggining to the end
0:25 you cannot beat that. I've always wanted DT to make a Star Wars theme for a interstellar battle, this is how it would sound like!
This might be my favorite DT song. Amazing.
What a great song! Can't believe they didn't put this on a studio album. It's complex, yet somehow very fluid and uplifting. Great vibe. Didn't know they were THAT good from the start. In my view, this song is better than most on their first record.
the kick in at 1:47 is just so crazy. Atmospheric, melodic and WIDE sounding. Incredible :D
Now,this is what I call a drum SOUND.MP really knows how to play his instrument to create a sound, unique for DT.
This is there peak here with line up and everything .So good makes me get teary eyed .
Dream Theater were so ahead of their time, writing this song in the late 80s. Well done DT!
Bring back portnoy! This is the best this band has ever been.
I like your optimism :) this DOES sound great :)
That doesn't fucking mean Dream Theater can't put on a good a show as they did with score again with Mike Mangini. Personally I hate the hate that some Dream Theater fans have against Mangini. I saw video's of Mike Mangini playing their stuff they wrote with protnoy just fine. And listening to Dream Theater's self-titled album made me think Mangini is just as good Protnoy. FUCK ALL YOU Mangini haters. THE BAND FOUND AN EQUALY AS GOOD DRUMER TO REPLACE PROTNOY! And Protnoy went back to a band I like called Transatlantic which he wasn't in for a while but got back into. It's good to see that Protnoy got in a good band again.
Mike is as good as Mike, NUFF SAID
Harrison Crutcher well see again.. maybe you didnt hear like i heard.. mangini makes DT songs sound like noobs.. bad snare bad hi hats.. simplified things that portnoy wrote...
no disrespect to mangini.
visious123 Well your fucking talking about the first album "Dream Theater" by Dream Theater that Mangini wrote drums for and I bet he will sound better in terms of drum tone and not in terms of how he plays the next Dream Theater albums. I personally think that the tone of Mangini's kit in the album Dream Theater is ok.
Those drum and bass stop rhythms are so great and written in '85
Majestic-Dream Theater...We the listeners Fans are the Luckiest ones alive!!! This is the masterpiece of real musical Geniuses !
the best DT live concert ever..and my fave prog track
one of my favourite john petrucci solos of all time.
@maiden944 This song is from DT's early period when the band was called Majesty, and the "Majesty" name was inspired to them by the ending of Rush's "Bastille Day". ;-)
This version though! I have been listening on this version on spotify! ❤
they will be always the best musicians of all times!!!
4:42 ... the "lick the air" style....Labrie RUUUUULEZ!!!
What a badass song!
Labrie has a more fitting voice for this song than chris collins did
thats no surprise seeings labrie is one of the best singers in the world
Thats true
No disrespect intended, but even if Collins range was amazing, he clearly didn't fit DT's style! We can compare Dominici to LaBrie, but not Collins!
then imagine this being sung by PHIL collins
We can not compare Dominici to LaBrie.
Love em or hate em, to deny this band the respect and credit they deserve is absurd. They have worked long and hard to get where they are at and have proven themselves to be musical virtuoso's. Nothing anyone says can take away from what DT has established. Cheers to all.
O miss M. Porrtnoy so much , my tears falling😨
james man ur pipes kick ass in this
My top 5 DT song 🫡
You can tell Kevin's influence on the keyboard passages. There's a unique style that Jordan just doesn't replicate.
myungs bass kicks ass in this song !
As a guitar player i am drawn to dream theater because of john petrucci but this song was owned by labrie and this was his greatest artistic moment
best James's performance!
Amazing song. Never heard it before!
This was the 20th Anniversary concert filmed at Radio City Music Hall in NYC.
Greatest musician within DT is John Myung cause he has probably the best riffs within every great song they have ever written
2006 Like it was yesterday !!!!
My Personal Favorite song of DT
awesome song and lineup
I gave you my word now, my love !!!
2:32 - 2:37 !!!
Just pure! Love the whole song, love LaBrie !
my god! you can hear myung!
i dont get why the Score audience is so asleep! most other DT performances you ever see have awesome audiences! these people are getting the best show on earth for gods sake!
The usual DT audience here in the states are musicians and geeks who love just absorbing the music according to Portnoy but in other countries they get a lot of hype. Check out an old video As I Am live in Brasil (spelled with an S) and if you see a skull watermark that's the video lol. They go insane.
Radio City Music Hall is cavernous. We were cheering but it’s an enormous room and the PA was doing its job that night. Great mix. Especially when the orchestra showed up.
the DT live ever..and my fave prog song
owowowow the drummer is a beast one of the best drummers
No words....
3:30 OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Couldn't agree more with you!
That bass.
I think we have enough proof of JLB being perhaps the best singer in the world. He might have been weak in some concerts, but it's 2011 and he's pretty much perfect again.
Really hard to find a band that can compose a song just like this at the age of 20!DT best
dude i was thinking the same thing. you feel satisfied when its over it doesn't leave you wanting something else
Damn, that guitar solo. Very Lifesonish...melodic and lonely sounding.
speechless
2:09 ... fucking love this fill Mike!!! that cymbal grab at the end is so tight, i use it all the time now..
john myung is on fire in this song !
My stream of consciousness: I have to admit it's very strange that DT made one of their EPIC songs right in the first album, when they were young and experiencing a fresh start in music. Their talent and virtuosity level is so obvious and heavily addicting (at least for me and surely for more people like me), I can actually consider myself as a DT lover (I hear you're laughing). That's
why I have to say: My name is Miro and I'm a proud DT fan and listener for over 16 years (since I was 8)...
For them to play a song, then, that they made when they were kids, and for it to be this good, is pretty damn amazing
Most possibly the 1st successfull dream theater song. 1985
Brilliant! --- I'm pretty sure this song is about the affair between Zeus and Semele in greek mythology. In the myth, Hera convinces Semele to ask Zeus to swear on the river styx ("Mighty River") to reveal his full form to her. Because mortals cannot look upon Zeus' full form directly, the light ends up killing her. To see the full connection, look up the wikipedia article for Semele. This song holds to the myth very well, imo.
Makes me feel alive, in love....
...
Meet God again and again.
labrie sounds great here
Thanks for pointing out that part! Never really noticed it before; now I can't get enough of it :-)
Miss of this time
the best band ever in my eyes
master myung!!!!
@AceInTheWhole94 I've been to many of their shows.. the reason the crowd is "fucking boring", as you say, is because everyone's in awe at the awesomeness of this awesomest of awesome bands, period.
