I watched them from the start and felt they weren’t singing live after debut. But like she said the more you watch you can see they are just that good. Plenty of more recent vids they warm up with no music and sound identical. Should have added their reaction to the m/v but I guess it’s already a long vid. Going to be awhile but the last few vids of Ahyeon debut, the making of sheesh and the see you there in Tokyo are so I guess wholesome is the word. Getting too see them finally in front of a sold out concert (small but big for them) was great to see.
When Lisa from BLACKPINK said she was helping a Thai trainee I always thought it was Chiquita, they had the same charisma on overload. But it was Pharita and it makes sense since Chiquita trained less.
Live stages are typically live to different degrees depending on the type of songs. Kpop groups with proper pop songs tend to have backing tracks for some very obvious reasons, they have effects and echos and doubling and layered chants and vocal chops and all that which you can't do with your voice alone. So it is live in the sense that they are actually singing on stage while dancing, but not everything you hear is live, some things are picked up by the backing track. Thats kind of the price for making modern pop music. There are many true live performances though, they just change it up a bit to make it more singable. Live band concerts are a good place to hear true live vocals, they often rock the songs up a bit more. Encores after winning on one of those music shows are another place to hear true live vocals, though it's not very flattering since they're basically just singing karaoke over the low music in the background, so their vocals are way too prominent compared to the music. Thats typically done because they're meant to do something fun during the encore, but most just sing the song over the low track. I like the encores where they do challenges best, like making a human pyramid or eating spicy peppers. Ballads are typically live in general though, same with smaller stuff like fan meeting requests and so on, Chiquita famously had a voice crack during their first ever fan meeting in Tokyo.
Eric is semi right about the live singing, it is definitely being tracked over but they do tend to still sing live usually on the not so strenuous dance parts. There are videos on youtube that show the performances with the recorded music removed so you can see what parts are being sung. Some groups strictly lip sync thats just how kpop is lol but i dont think BM is one of those groups.
Ik this sound sudden but i wouls like for you to react to xg they also have documentary on how they were make but i suggest you to start with their song first so that you will not be spoiled when watching their documentary you can start with tippy toes their debut song

And through Blackpink, they have more interest in YG's Babymonster than other groups Additionally, YG releasing a lot of pre-debut content for Babymonster allowed Eric to better see the process and story behind the group Plus, BW does care about viewership, and with the current generation of groups Babymonster does get the most YT views
