    This also brought memories of early/mid sixties for building Monogram, Revel military vehicles. Many built during summer under Dogwood tree for shade on the Picnic table.
    “War game battles enjoyed with these builds with many soldier packs/kits with a few out scale tin/ lead soldiers as well.. those 5 & 10 stores certainly helped our interest with many bins & models

    I've noticed when wiring the spark plugs up there's no distributor formthe HT leads to go to! It should be on the right side of the engine so you will have to borrow one or scratch build one!

    • @stevieRay3211
      @stevieRay3211  2 года назад +1

      Hey Zach. The pigments and weathering techniques are kind of sprinkled (sorry for the pun) in a few of the past episodes. Try the FT17 tank episode, part 2, about 16 minutes in. Here is the link; ruclips.net/video/VD9Gc22Zo9o/видео.html . All the best!

    Dear Tomas,
    Thanks for sharing the excellent tips in the video.
    In video 18:35, the painting of the shovel looks real. Do you have any video that demonstrates painting of tank accessories? Thank you.

    • @stevieRay3211
      @stevieRay3211  Год назад +1

      Hey Chang, thanks for the note. I've never focused on tank tools in the videos unfortunately. Try this; paint the handles a very light tan color then paint very thin lines in brown to mimic the grain. Next use a clear orange colour over top of that to get that nice warm wood colour. The metal parts, paint them flat black then rub a soft lead pencil over the black to get a steel colour. Or the metal parts can be primed with flat black, then oversprayed with a dark brown rust colour. You can then drybrush the edges with an aluminum metallic paint on the edges. There are other ways to finish tools. Maybe search for "tank tools" in RUclips as I'm sure others have made videos on the topic. Good luck!

    Tomas - excellent build! Your building and detail painting are top notch, and I'll refer to this for my future builds.
    Just 1 question: why use clear gloss when sealing decals? Wouldn't a quick spritz of flat clear be easier to use considering an overall flat finished is more desired on a well used military vehicle?
    Keep up the excellent work! 🤙

    • @stevieRay3211
      @stevieRay3211  2 года назад +1

      Hi Mike. Thanks for the awesome note and kind words. I use a clear gloss since its smooth and allows our subsequent weathering like streaking - which I didn't do on this model - and pin wash to flow nicely. Sure glossy models look weird at that stage but by the time you lay on your weathering it'll dull down nicely. At the end you can also spot spray dull coat to fix any overly shiny areas.
      Also, we don't want a completely flat finish since it destroys the depth we are trying to create with our post shading with shadows and highlights. A little shine here and there (within reason) also makes for an interesting finish. Study pictures of real vehicles and you'll see different levels of shine that occur naturally. But there are no hard rules. Find a routine that works and appeals to you. Experiment with different techniques and materials - it's half the fun. All the best to you!

      Hey Ed, thanks for the awesome note. I think we all have a Jeep or two in our stash, kind of comes with the territory. To this day I still can't find the Takom one anywhere. Not that I look every day, but whenever I check. I've been eyeing the Dragon SAS one, the three-kits-in-one box but $73 USD is a bit rich. There's also an amazing SAS resin stowage kit by legend but it's $64USD. May as well buy a real jeep! Good luck with your projects!

      Thanks Jonathan. Chips are tough on dark vehicles because of the lack of contrast so we have to look to other ways to get the battlefield look. I should have done more streaking but ran out of time - next time for sure. All the best!

    • @stevieRay3211
      @stevieRay3211  4 года назад +1

      I looked at the Wrecker and it looks great. Not familiar with IBG (until now) and amazing how many great kits and companies are emerging from eastern Europe. I drool over so many amazing kits from Meng, Takom, AFV Club, Trumpeter, and the wrecker. Asian brands are easier to come by in North America that's why the choices skew there. But these deluxe kits are complex and time consuming to build. Not sure people would follow the series if only six videos appeared each year. 😉 I'm leaning towards Trumpeter LAV (ambulance) and/or Tamiya's M4 early kit. Wish I had the time to do the Asuka or Dragon M4.

      hey Tomas I like oil base wash can I use oil thinner like mineral spirit as a binder for the pigments and after you apply all the pigments do you seal model with a matt coat to protect everything?

    • @stevieRay3211
      @stevieRay3211  3 года назад +1

      I never get good results using mineral spirits as a binder. The pigments seem to dissolve and it ends up becoming tinted paint. I prefer alcohol as a binder. I use dull coat very sparingly since it flattens everything if sprayed on too thick. I only spray it on very shiny parts. Go light with the flat coat! Even pigments applied dry stay on pretty well. Pigments fixed with alcohol stick very well. You have to experiment and use what works best for you. I can only recommend materials and techniques that I have found that work.

      Hey Dale. Covid is definitely putting a dent in supply as my usual on-line sources are all sold out, except for the flame-thrower version which is available. A check of Amazon and Ebay did find some available with Amazon probably being the lesser expensive since Ebay is basically an auction and sellers charge whatever they want. You may consider the newer Takom brand, its cheaper than the Meng product and comes with a figure and trailer. It may be an option for you.
