- Following another weekend of refereeing controversy and a last minute Liverpool winner, Gareth Roberts and Paul Cope get stuck into the debate around drop balls, extended injury time and the conspiracy going right to the top of the English game. They also look back over the past week of LFC games and start looking forward to a huge week ahead.

Surely the biggest irony of the Forrest fans signing “same old scousers, always cheating” is the fact that they’ve just been charged for breaking profit and sustainability rules 😂
Stop it. Stop talking perfect sense!
It’s been hilarious.. Chelsea singing about the Stevie G slip 10 years later, and Southampton and Forest giving it all that at the beginning of the game, and Nunez getting called 💩 Andy Carroll.. and we made C*nts out of them all!! 😂😂😂
The really bizarre thing about Chelsea fans singing about Gerrard is that a) they're forgetting about John Terry's slip in Moscow costing them the European Cup, and b) them winning that game at Anfield not only didn't help them, but all the energy they put into winning that game ultimately even cost them, since Atletico Madrid turned them over in the Champions League semi-final just three days later.
Lads, it's Liverpool. The biggest club in the land. We occupy head space like no other club. Rent free. And we're the only big English club that has been successful through most of this new social media age. Everyone gets riled up by on another on Twitter/Facebook. If United had our success over the last 7 years then it would be them getting this treatment. It's just what a big club has to deal with and it's all bullshit but it is what it is. It's why Gerrard's name is sung weekly by opposition fans. It's why every opposition fan spends 90% of any match singing about Liverpool instead of their own team. You can see it as an headache but to me it's nothing but glorious 😎 I want them all to cry even more
Yes, it's mainly a manifestation of the green monster, envy. Even though Citeh have won more in recent times ... we have FAR more regular great "football miracle" moments and we have all that historical success. Citeh are a small club in reality based on fan base. So LIV are the source of most, if not all, of other teams' fan envy. Fans who realistically have zero chance of ever experiencing that success and very rarely experiencing the type of moments we seem to get from Juergen's men almost weekly .
Also the least objectionable reason for giving Liverpool so many 12:30 starts after international breaks is that Liverpool is the biggest club in England, and the TV execs know where the money is. Every other possible reason would justify putting asterisks on any non-Liverpool PL title winners over recent years and this year, too.
The mistake the ref made is not blowing the whistle, immediately, when a head injury occurred.
Correct! When the ball was in the box…
I agree.
The underlying issue is an arguable inconsistency of the written rules, which will inevitably leads to error. Any other time the referee interrupts play, play is "brought back" to the location of the incident, effectively unwinding the game in time. But the wording of drop ball rules seems to imply that the moment of the whistle is what matters, not the reason the referee is blowing the whistle. So the officials are using their whistles one certain way 99% of the time, and then they are supposed to use their whistles in a very different way for these drop ball situations.
And keep in mind that it is the referee's duty to mind the safety of the player who might have a head injury and get medical attention onto the pitch immediately. So the the referee is juggling three very different considerations at the same time: how to normally use the whistle, how to use the whistle with a drop ball (look around and assess first), but definitely put the safety of the player first.
Let's not forget there were four possible fouls that occurred on this play -- three by Forest and one by Liverpool.
I have a not very positive opinion of Tierney, but if he made a technical error here due to a rush to help a possibly injured player, shouldn't we give him the benefit of the doubt?
No, you let it go!
If Forest go down by one point, the thing which put them there'll be their points deduction, not a drop ball wrong decision.
Nah. I'd like to think it was because of us. Fuck'em.
The TLC Drinking Game:
Take a shot when the following are mentioned.
- I often thing about this
- We'll come on to this later
- No! You let it go
- I'm about to go on a tangent
- Up the reds
- ya bellends
Do you know what I mean!
Ha nice one 👍 😅
I think Robbo doesn't say, "Ya bellends" enough.
“Dinosaurs who work in a dessert.” Another Robbo classic 😅
UP THE TLC, UP YOU TWO LADS,UP THE FUCKING REDS!!!!! YNWA! 👍👍👍
Hey lads don’t become the Anfield Wrap. You still have authenticity. Priceless
Ahahaha loving Dropballgate, but what about the Forest player flying in karate kick style? Should have been a Liverpool free kick. That's the bad missed call. Thanks for bringing this up
This fucking killed me, when Robbo's voice went back to high school. You know you've gone mad when you make Robbo's voice breaks.
Weekly hilarity with you pair of beauts. Lets get this channel where it needs to be ❤❤❤ YNWA
I love how high pitch Gaz gets talking about clattenburg 😂😂
I like the casual setting and flow of conversation fellas. Was a listener of TAW but gave that up some years ago. Good to see you're still doing your thing 🤙🏻
As a Nottingham man and a Liverpool fan in the home end. I had to keep my cool when Nunez scored 😅
If you watch the game back, the ref made the same mistake in the first half
Liverpool were in possession when the ref stopped the game when a Forest player went down. Ref restarted the game by dropping the ball at the Forest keeper’s feet
Ref made the same mistake twice, yet only one is being highlighted in the media
Southern media. United and West Ham fans a lot of em
The attempt to make an issue out of nothing, is nothing but to deflect Nottingham Forst failure to clear the ball and the media desire for Liverpool to drop points, that's all.
Another belter lads, this is my favourite pod by a mile.
Great Show!
Thank you!
Up the Reds
Boss show lads. Just subscribed, love listening to the show in my car on way to work. Proper cheers me up. Keep up the great work.
Clattenbuurg was always bent as a ten Bob note...
Embarrassing he's in the spotlight
Brilliant, heartfelt, acerbic stuff. A breath of fresh air compared to other fan media and exactly what I want from TLC.
Up the fucking Reds!
I thank you both for the effort you put in. Very enjoyable time spent watching you lads.
a moment from the game I loved was Virgil telling Darwin he's going to be the one to win it for us on the day. Endo's goal celebrations are a sight to behold as well. I never thought there'd be a world in which a drop ball was the most talked about thing in a weekend with 2 dramatic endings to football matches, a manchester derby and two london derbies as well. I mean fucking hell England get a grip of yourselves losing your complete utter shit over a drop ball
The mainstream media have a lot to do with this, one of the idiots actually said it could be the worst error of the season ffs. We've had three glaring fuck ups go against us, Spurs, Arsenal and Man U have all benefited from these awful errors. We could be anywhere between 4-10 points clear right now.
This simply shows \ proves the anti scouse bias that exists throughout England. It is not a figment of LIV fans' imagination. That bias is very real and has deep historical \ cultural roots.
Every. Single. Weekend. They fcuk it. Then the clowns go mad. No wonder people watch less and less, or leave the game altogether
If people wanna make it comparable with the Spurs game:
xG for getting a drop ball in your own box: 0.01
xG for scoring an actual legitimate goal: 1.00
The powers-that-be thinking they're improving the game, when in reality they're destroying it. How ironic.
Making money is the aim
Just stumbled on you guys. Love it! Eased my frustration with mainstream media. Thanks both. New subscriber.
Absolutely love you guys, you talk complete sense in the football world where there literally isn’t any. Keep up the excellent work..Up the Reds.
another person talking bollox
Keep calling Nottingham Forest by "Notts Forest", they love that
To properly value your club you must work out how much real estate you own in other fans heads 😂
We are THE land barons now🎉
If anything there is a conspiracy to prevent them winning the title. There was a clear penalty not given for a rugby style tackle on Jayden Danns by Dannilo. Don't forget the Tottenham game.
We definitely haven’t forgotten the Tottenham game…
@thelatechallengepodcast How on earth is this topic of conversation actually happening then? Liverpool have been robbed on many occasions.
@@georgea8298Well that’s exactly the discussion on the video mate.
That were I watch teams from 70's and 80's: who I never give up.
No VAR!!!, we didn’t know how well we had it
Ive been a Liverpool fan for over 40yrs but i live near newcastle and i still to this day the song 'in my Liverpool slums' sang at me... Its unbelievable 😁
You know in the Film Snatch (Brick Top) "I don't care if it's mohamad I'm hard Bruce Lee" Yates took the spirit of that in that flying kick.
I went on an Anfield tour years/decades ago and the person showing us around said the away dressing room used to be cleaned with a certain detergent so it was a bit slippy. Said it went on in the 70s & 80s so that opposition players would slip and pull hamstrings etc. I think it was banter but always stuck with me as the dark arts and they should do it still
The media's reaction , is provable QED
you dont over react unless your hiding something
Great show lads 👏
If you’re not on the Patreon, definitely give it a try!
Really enjoying the content lads 👏🏾👏🏾
I’ll make this your day job lads. I’ll donate a whole £10 to buy a coffee. You boys make my working day enjoyable. Fucking love this every week. GERRRINNN
Can you please release a 'No, you let it go' T shirt please.
Thank god for you 2 this week, bringing my sanity back after listening the mainstream drivel. Also Liverpool fans were singing fu** off Tierney in the 1st half but now he’s a secret red according to forest fans. Give me strength
Talking about songs lads …..👇🏻
Nunez song
Flying pickets -only you
Looking from the kop up above ,
it's like a story of love
Darwin Nunez
Came here from Uruguay
speaks 2 words at a time
Darwin Nunez
Suarez told us what a player you’d be
Causing Caous at the lfc
Darwin we love you
Only you
Maybe this is just an attempt to counter Liverpool's legitimate claims of unfair treatment.
The disallowed goal deserves the attention these guys have given it. If it was given the Liverpool would have an extra point, maybe even 3 in that game. I also recall a corner when Virgil was rugby tackled by his opponent and the penalty was not given. Seen much softer penalties given to Haland and other teams. If there is a conspiracy (and I do not think there is), it is against Liverpool
Top quality boys…..your podcast today is basically my Facebook post at full time whistle last Saturday…YNWA. Gareth….honestly think this is your best podcast ever….and I’ve seen most including Anfield Wrap days….
getting a drop ball wrong being classed as a monumental error but totally ignoring a perfect goal is only a significant error ...all a load of bolox
“Tierney is a shite referee and he made a mistake.”
Classic
👍👍👍
😂😂😂@min 19 conspiracy!! Love it. Tierney hates Klopp the little bollocks. He ain't giving us anything
To be fair , the forest skipper said the right thing , we had chances to clear it , we should have defended better
Really liked this one. Someone had to say it, and you's did. Amazing lads.
it evened itself out in the game cos tierney made the same mistake earlier in the game against us lol
TBF, there were TONS of neutrals at the time of the LIV @ TOT game said \ admitted it was a mad decision and result that was unprecedented. But even few of those were supporting calls for a replay or other radical options for recompense.
Nice one lads. Good process this week 😄👍
What about Danns being dragged to the floor
Bask in the glory of Darwin Nunez! Hahaaaaaaaa.
I’m here for the Forest bullshit. Seriously, how deluded do we have to be as fans to seriously think a drop ball has any real impact on a game. Stupid and a waste of time.
You boys have nailed it again.
Also, I quite like Gary Neville. At least he clearly loved the footy. I don’t agree with all he says, but I don’t have to to enjoy the content.
Diaz goal ruled offside again against Brighton. So close a frame off for the ball contact could make all the difference. LFC defeat the ref and VAR again!
Great show guys
Monumental is the Diaz goal spot on..
Imagine Clive Thomas referring now.
What is really pissing me off with all our injury problems is the fact that some teams are just rolling over for the likes of Arsenal and City. West Ham, Newcastle and Sheffield Utd never turned up against Arsenal. As for Man Utd v City the less said the better. Utter humiliation. Teams just seem to raise their game against Liverpool with Refs and VAR ensuring a win is never easy!
Love this from Garth Crooks - As for the controversy surrounding referee Paul Tierney and where the game should have restarted. The referee made a mistake, however once the ball was back in play it was incumbent on Forest to defend their goal regardless of the referee's decision. They had numerous opportunities to clear the danger and failed.
As for former official and now Nottingham Forest analyst Mark Clattenburg, asking to see the referee after the game was an interesting request. What was he intending to do - compare career mistakes?
The P/L is now being scrutinised more than UK Politics, it is actually getting very annoying and repetitive. YNWA.
Great show lads as ever. The IFAB rules also say dangerous play e.g. a high boot where no contact is made (Yates) should result in an indirect free kick. This would have been taken by....Kelleher. Nobhead ex refs talking shite about rules on sky and yet failed to acknowledge this rule, if the drop ball had been given to Forrest after the high boot it would have been a 'monumental error' then wouldn't it
Anyway, it was demonstrated by Mac Allister and Nunez in the 99th (legitimate) minute, how to beat the low block, and that's all that matters, really.
When Tierney gave us the drop ball and Gibbs-White complained about it, Tierney said to him it was the same in the first half, which it was when we had possession and a drop ball was given to Forest's keeper. So even if it was a mistake he made the same mistake twice, once in our favour and once in theirs. But MOTD, Sky etc... on the highlights never showed or mentioned the drop ball in the first half. To be fair though, the official Forest you tube channel showed extended highlights which came up in my RUclips recommended videos, so I watched it and they didn't show either dropped ball incident.
Darwin Gabriel Núñez Ribeiro - will be 25 in June. He is coming into his prime. EPL sides will be dealing with him for another 5 to 7 years. He will end this season with around 20 goals all comps and probably around 15 assists (rough projection from 14 and 11 all comps now). Then you look at what happens when he is on the pitch and how many involvements he has in goals scoring movements - he is there often the pass/flick on before the assist and goal..... Wouldnt trade him for anyone else - and I cant wait for the 24/25 season to start as Darwin is going to be even more terrifying for defenders - they already are terrified by his pace, next seasonis going to be off the charts scared....
I thought it wasn't anything it happens they had one in the 1st half no one said anything then
Forest had 98+ minutes to score too 🥸
Like what Gareth said about sticking by the injured players. Think people hold it against Thiago but surely he wants to play more than anyone. Be nice if all the players had a song like you say. * Danns seems decisive on the ball, one touch. Love it!
The Forest fan who had ago at Gareth was way salty
No wonder Klopp has had enough with the PL and media, you can't blame him for wanting to get out after being ground down with years of shite and bias. I saw Marco Silva getting pissed off the other day in his press conference, as he was getting asked about Tik-Tok vids in the build to his own game. Its just banal drivel.
Its not just the ability of the kids its the environment of the senior players to support them and give them confidence to be able to perform.
It's rife with top tear facilitators.
If your not encouraging and nurturing and protecting in a positive way your not getting close to this team
A bit late on the 57 up the red's
Up the reds❤😊
Why is no one talking about the ref making the same mistake against Liverpool in the 1st half!! Elliot had the ball on the edge of the Forest box when play was stopped for a Forest player being injured. The game then restarted with a drop ball given to Forest! Talk about being biased!!!
It's the weekly production decision from the telly to focus on an obscure football decision because they know Liverpool FC get clicks, there's a story...Jurgen, kids, Wembley etc etc. Proper Byuuuttes the lot of them. Up the Joe Gomez Reds.
Totally agree Paul we got one
Agreed, Goldstein is a massive blurt
Remember the Maradona Hand of God outrage...... What was meant to do after the referee gave the goal.... Chase him down and say actually i handballed it?
If it was such a massive mistake, why did Forest's coach, bench, owner, etc not jump and and down on the sideline at the time. Why did they wait until after we scored and they lost?
Talk about making a mountain out of a mole hill with that drop ball, we scored 2 mins later, that incident was not directly attributable to a goal, unless pundits can see into the future, and if they were so concerned at the time added on as well and wanted a point why didnt they just clear it into row z off the corner rather than trying to go on the counter attack. #he is just a shit andy carroll, what are these oppo supporters on. Up the reds.
Hahaha yep Tierney hates us we hate him and Tsimikas protected him from a get this a Forest fan 😂
I thought Lois Dias was clever, he took the ball of the Forrest player and kicked it back in to the box and confused Tierney
We've got to remember that generally, and especially when it comes to us, people are not arguing in good faith, they've got no interest in being swayed!
Forest have just proved themselves, form the fans to the ownership, to be a piece of shit club.
Lads.. let’s let it go now. We did get a big bit of luck at Forest.. we also got a MASSIVE bit of luck when the City goal was rubbed out at the Ethihad, when Allison was “fouled”.. Spurs was terrible.. but we’ve also had significant luck too.. time to move on.
Nah.
@@thelatechallengepodcast haha - fair enough. Crack on then… 😊
The fact this is even a conversation is ludicrous. They wasted their own time. 30 seconds added on is nothing but normal. FFS.
Good afternoon Gentlemen, Do you think there is any way us Liverpool fans can persuade Jürgen Klopp to change his mind & stay at Liverpool as manager 🙏🙏🙏🙏 please stay Jürgen
If Southgate doesn’t take Joe Gomez to the Euros it rubber stamps his idiocy.
Dans first goal .the dink..was prime Ian rush finish..ynwa ❤
City, Chelsea, Everton and Forrest all have been caught cheating. But LFC got a drop ball to their advantage.
I understand your dismay. Doesn't it ring through all aspects of life?
Is it a coincidence?
Joe's like Danny INGS... PROPER MENTAL MONSTER..... HAD SOME VERY BAD LUCK WITH HIS BODY... HE'S TOP TOP CLASS....
Have a gooden lads
I said after that game 2 points or all 3 might yet haunt us end of season..fucking hope not....
Is this live at 5 too?
