Thanks so much for this enjoyable outdoor adventure with u both !!! Brings back a lot of great memories being outdoors with my wife. Keeps people connected and focused on each other. Thanks again.

Thank you so much Litha! I used to be very into photography but only started with videos in 2017. Been a big learning curve (even though many principles are the same), but it's been fun to learn. Still so much left to learn.
Hi Jon and Erin,, for yrs IV seen folks fishing these fantastic water falls,,,,,,, always wondered how they got there Ty for the invite!!!!,,,,,I really enjoy Your videos ,, Ty Belville On,, chip carver,,,,keep it up
I was in there yesterday and the log jam in the middle of Skunk rapids around 23:00 - 23:30 has cleaned itself out almost completely, it's not there anymore. The power of water is amazing.
@@LostLakes I bet most of it moved this spring, the water was crazy high this year, It makes carrying a canoe through easier but it was a reliable spot to pull a nice sized trout from. Natures always in flux, she gives and she takes at the same time. You ever going to do Nama creek? It's a gorgeous creek but I guess the only exit is by going down the rest of the pic or by quad.
@@LostLakes It's one of my favorites up here, the fishing is spectacular, healthy brookies and rainbows all year and it gets a big steelhead run and small salmon runs, sturgeon are in there in the early season while the waters high too. I've always wanted to paddle fourbay creek too, it connects to lower nama and has in my opinion the most specatular falls around here. And it's loaded with tonnes of really cool fossils like corals and shells. Mobert creek to black river from lampson road is a nice trip too, and the north flowing rivers like the Foch and Osawin are pretty easy to access and paddle.
Sorry to hear Erin caught a The Brookies, it’s a devastating sickness, her life will never be the same. Great trip as always, warm weathers winding down 😭
Thanks Rob, we're doing the best we can to manage the symptoms, but it's harder when she's at home. The shakes come on hardest at dusk and dawn. Lol thanks man...still time for a few trips!
So glad I found this channel! Thank you for sharing your adventures! Love the scenery and your editing of the videos is awesome! Look forward to seeing more videos in the future!
What! - you guys treat your canoe like a tool? Prob part of why you have the funnest trips and awesome videos. The cinematography is stunning amd this river was gorgeous all the way! I like your choice of music and you know where to add lt! All around best outdoor/ canoeing Sherpas i have came across! Just love you both and hope we all see a lot more on your adventures. Be safe, and keep on.
Really appreciate that!!! Plenty of critics out there and lots of them seem to hate music so that's nice to hear. Lots more to come 🙂 Thank you again! 🙏🙏
Excellent Video as always Jon and Erin and Happy Birthday Erin. You guys make all that yummy food and everytime you set up camp and start cooking i run to my kitchen lol. But im a canoeist /camper too and appreciate good food. When i cook on my grill its always with well seasoned wood not Charcoal or gas...
Just wanted to thank you again for another great video. The waterfalls are really beautiful. I'm ready to move to Canada just so I don't have to drive so far to be near such amazing woods, water and, wildlife. I realize this is old video but, Happy belated bday(to keep the spirit of the whole thing) to your better half she's amazing: great fisher, camper and, all around terrific woman.
Just found your channel and absolutely loving your vids. That fact that you both also love fishing just makes them even better. Spectacular country and many parts of your rivers remind me of sections of ours in NSW, Australia. We have had a bad summer with fires in many parts preventing us from getting out on the rivers and dams. Now we have heavy rains. Looking forward to working my way through all your vids. Thanks
Thanks so much Troopy! That's really interesting...I never pictured our rivers here bearing a resemblance to yours. Such catastrophic fires...they were all over the news here. Insult to injury to get heavy rains now. So sad.
Backcountry Angling Ontario thanks. The upside of the rain is it has helped extinguish a few of the fires and restarted the flows in some rivers. Some of our dams have also been topped up so we're hoping to still get into them before summer ends. Thanks again and looking forward to your next vid 👍
Stunning landscape, waterfalls, wildlife, brook trout and memories. I’m still waiting for my first Brookie , hopefully next spring. If not I’ll beg you to take me fishing with you, lol. Magnetawan River this weekend from Harris Lake - can’t wait, thanks as always Jon! Wicked first Brookie Erin!
Hahahah if you're ever desperate, the rivers and creeks in the Manitouwadge area are some of the best brook trout waters I've fished. So many watercourses and such low population density, and not even that many people fishing them amongst those who are there, especially in canoe-accessible parts. Have an awesome trip man!!
you found your self a keeper as in your Erin . a women that can nap on the bare ground is a keeper good job for how she camps gos into the wild with you and has a good time is so awesome
I'm a little bit late because of holiday but Erin : Happy Birthday. Again a nice video, thank you! Awesome that you see so many bears on a trip, in Holland we don't have bears and on my trips in Sweden and Norway I also don't see them. I hope the day will come. Thank you
Awesome video!!!! I grew up in Manitouwadge and am quite familiar with the White Otter, Middle Falls and Manitou Falls. Although I've never had a chance to fish there, I now know where I'll be heading next summer. I didn't get a chance to head up this year so thanks for taking me home....
Thanks Ed!! Right on! Just a heads up that I saw no signs of human activity along the White Otter. Travel is a bit rough in a few spots, but not for long stretches. Also did a video on Macutagon Creek which was an excellent brook trout destination.
@@LostLakes Thanks, I'll watch that video tomorrow evening. Do you know any good ice fishing spots by Dubreuilville, I'll be up there this winter working on a project for Alamos Gold.
Dehydrating plums right now! Apples, Blueberries, banana, kiwi, pears.......and seasoned kale chips too. We did beets as well, they still taste like dirt lol! Cheers
Keep the good work , your videos are awesome 👍
Hahah I know, pretty amazing brookie for her first! I got her the Silky saw...I know how much she loves processing firewood 😀 We actually are planning to buy a new canoe this winter! Mine is only 15', so we're looking at one that's 17'6". We definitely need to work on our communication in rapids...mainly me saying the right direction 😅 Thanks as always Sylvain!
No problem Sylvain 🙂 I wish I was bilingual. It's kind of fun to put your comments in Google Translate and see what it means...and remember some of the words and phrases I learned in school.
Another awesome trip buddy, seriously. Great route, great fishing (as usual) and really sweet scenery & camera work. As usual, I look forward to the next 'BAO has uploaded a new video' notification!! Also, you two vibe really well off eachother. It's awesome to see a couple who share the same passion for the wild and to see you both exploring it, together.
Hahaha too humble of her...she's fished intermittently through her life, but she does great...her casting accuracy amazes me sometimes. Thanks from both of us potcrak1!
Looks like it was a great time. As always great video. Brookie flue is a pretty serious condition. You 2 are definitely a blast 2 watch. Thanks for sharing. HAPPY BIRTHDAY. 🎂 👍👍🎣🎣
Such a lovely video you 2. Congrats Erin on your 1st Brookie, may you never recover from brook fever ;) and a big Happy Birthday. Jon am still enjoying your sense of humour.
Thanks as always Nikki! 😀 Hahaha I think it's going to be a chronic condition...we can only hope so. It's the only disease that's good for your health 😜
I’ve had a couple trips like that, first couple spots awesome fishing, trophy trout. You’re thinking “man next few days it’s going to be unreal”. End of trip, still thinking of the first spot.
those are trophies for most of us. I recently moved to within 30 miles of the penobscot east branch. Gonna get after them this year. its a mistake to assume the fish aren't there just because you aren't hooking them, they're there alright. They hide under the foam just out of the main flow, foam gives good cover.
that grill is sweet. watching your vlogs brings me back to my younger days. 13th hamilton ventures went to gogama and paddled 74k 14 Portages weeks after a tornado blasted through nothing was cleared. we won the national amory adventure award from the boy scouts out of 100 entries. 20 years ago now. where does all that time go.
Yeah it's a solid little grill! That's awesome...hard to compare any trip to one with blowdown or burnt over ports. The difficulty of travel is just another level.
Really nice video guys, great job on Erin’s first Brookie. Holy cow what a fish! My first was about the size of the lure! On the fishing, not sure if you had tackle for bait fishing but sometimes just a worm on a hook will out fish all other lures and flies when Trout fishing, especially on a rainy day such as the one you experienced while at the falls. Those dark damp overcast days set them crazy on worms!
Sweet video! Nice Fishing. What an amazing weekend trip on a very cool little river. Bye the way, Erin is holding her paddle backwards. The bend goes the other way. Give it a try!
Thanks Martin!! Hahaha so we hear...I have to admit I made the same mistake when I tried it. The way she was using it seemed to have so much more drawing power, but evidently the other way is correct!
When you said you were hoping for your first Aurora Borialis I thought it was some northern Ontario jingo for catching one of each native fish in one trip...but ya, northern lights makes more sense
Hahah yessir...coincidentally I did catch my first aurora trout a month after this trip on Borealis Lake (no joke). But as for the aurora borealis, my hunt continues...
Great trip, loved the time lapse on the burning log. Jon I’ve only been watching a short while but you my friend have it sussed, not only does Erin like fishing and canoeing camping etc you also buy her a saw for her birthday so she can cut firewood.......😉😎👍 you must have the smoothest line in chat.😂 if I even joked about buying my wife a saw......well suffice to say I wouldn’t hear the last of it.
You guys make me envious. Beautiful country to have fun in. No chance of wild camping anywhere near where I am as it's all farmland and private woods apart from a national park, campsites only, and 400 square kilometres of wild plain where I work. No chance of camping there unless you want to share your campsite with unexploded shells. Still, I can dream.
I feel your pain man. I grew up in the Toronto area, but even then at least there were good options within a couple of hours of driving. Now in the north, the possibilities are endless. Glad you can at least escape here a little :)
I live in Michigan just north of Grand Rapids and between Chicago, Illinois, and Joliet and I have seen the Northern Lights. in Michigan they wear white and another time they wear green and in Illinois, they wear red so cool all together I have seen them six times. 2/5/2022. 3:09 AM from Michigan USA.
A few people have asked, but I feel like it's not for me. I'm terrible at accepting favours, help, or gifts 😅 And I suppose I don't like the idea of making people think that they owe me anything for watching. Not to mention that I don't think people want to pay for RUclips content and I bet my earnings would be embarrassingly small lol.
Lol I have no doubt...but for now, it's one less piece of gear I need to own. I'm sure I'll try it later in life and it'll become an obsession, but it'll be nice to get that change of pace at that point
I have been enjoying your channel so much, that I have binged watched every single of your videos in a matter of 10 days. I have noticed a shift in your style and wanted to share my opinion with you. I feel glad for you that you have found a companion in Erin to share your remote adventures with, though I have to say this changed drastically the way you are documenting your trips. In your solo trips you seem to take the time to provide insides on your feelings, little details of your day to day activities and fishing trials. I actually find this information very interesting. When you are solo you seem to take the time. These particular characteristics of your documentation of the trips seem to be missing when you are not solo, possibly because you are sharing these insights directly with your companion, rather than with us. When you are with somebody you may also be less bored, and we don't seem to get the picturesque/artistic shots that you tend to make when alone. I also notice there's less of these hilarious silly shots of you, including the "douche cooking show host" and "the portage grunt/sight" gig. I hope you do not see this as a critique, but rather as an observation.
Thanks so much Jean-Sebastien :) A lot of people give advice in a very tactless way, but you did it in a nice way so I really appreciate it. I think you're right that sometimes I don't feel the need to express things to the camera because I was able to voice them to Erin instead. Another part of it is that the more videos you make as a "RUclips creator" the more you start to cut, because you feel like you've shown the same content before, and it becomes less interesting to you (that is, me) than it was initially. I guess you could call it a "maturing" of the content, but the downside is there's probably less of the silly and amateur video content that can actually be fun to watch....something to consider for me, so thanks :)
@@LostLakes Thank you Jontario for taking the time to reply in such a personalized way. It has been such a treat to see what you have been doing in the wild, not so far from us (we're in Winnipeg, MB, and cottage at Lake of the Woods). Best wishes on your next adventures, I look forward to live vicariously through your explorations.
32:00 I'm at home, watching you guys in the woods talking about if you were home you'd be watching Netflix. Something poetic about that, slightly, maybe?
Beautifully shot. I'm paying close attention to some of your techniques. I love the time-lapse of the burning log. I have to admit that I haven't seen this one before: pick up log … then throw into camera tripod. Must be the new-wave, just like selfies in recent times. I'm not sure it will catch on as much as the selfies did. Great job.
LOL my poor gear takes a beating. The camping gear is somewhat made for it...the tech not so much. My big camera has been underwater (and survived), and the GoPros get mounted on just about everything. Thanks Canoeman! That log burned in a neat way...a very cooperative subject.
You'll get it sooner or later JK! Got a trip at the end of the month with a killer aurora forecast and even darker skies 🤞🤞 Getting my hopes up as always.
If you guys would have walked around the corner from that first creek where the roads washed out you would have reached the river at the skunk rapids bridge. Also there's musky right there at your end point. I haven't landed one yet but I've had follows right up to shore. was surprised to see them above the falls.
Lol yeah we must've been just short of reaching it. On the bright side, the fishing was much better upriver so at least we got to enjoy that as a result. That is awesome! And shocking above the falls...wow. Hope to paddle the Pic from Manitou down sometime
@@LostLakes It's a really nice river, one of my favourites to fish, I haven't canoed it but I've probably walked every stretch, the closer up to hillsport you get I think the nicer it is. I'm surprised you haven't done Nama or Fourbay creeks yet. Nama is one of my favourite places in the world. There's so much to explore up here though. And I know you guys liked Manitou falls a lot but Small falls right off the 614 accross the road from summers lake is probably the nicest falls we have. Twin Falls is spectacular too even with the hydro dam. They are driving/short hiking falls not Canoe trip falls though.
@@LostLakes And the fish weren't in the rapids because I've already been there haha. I had a lot of luck underneath the big logjam/pile around halfway down the rapids and at the very bottom on the left hand side looking downstream. And the pool right under the bridge, but a lot of the pockets you'd expect weren't holding too much. I never pulled a single rainbow out of there all summer though almost had one under the next bridge further up from where you launched, just passed Ramsey Lake.
There were never two people more meant for one another! So awesome to find your "person"! It's a beautiful thing🙏💜🤗

Thank you so much Litha! I used to be very into photography but only started with videos in 2017. Been a big learning curve (even though many principles are the same), but it's been fun to learn. Still so much left to learn.
Hi Jon and Erin,, for yrs IV seen folks fishing these fantastic water falls,,,,,,, always wondered how they got there
Ty for the invite!!!!,,,,,I really enjoy Your videos ,, Ty
Belville On,, chip carver,,,,keep it up
They are quite spectacular falls indeed ! Fished it many times 🥰
I'm pretty sure that was a come joke at the end. Good one, Erin. Made Jon blush.
I was in there yesterday and the log jam in the middle of Skunk rapids around 23:00 - 23:30 has cleaned itself out almost completely, it's not there anymore. The power of water is amazing.
Wow! Thanks for the update! Must just be farther downstream now lol
@@frogsnacks certainly want to...hmmmm
@@LostLakes It's one of my favorites up here, the fishing is spectacular, healthy brookies and rainbows all year and it gets a big steelhead run and small salmon runs, sturgeon are in there in the early season while the waters high too. I've always wanted to paddle fourbay creek too, it connects to lower nama and has in my opinion the most specatular falls around here. And it's loaded with tonnes of really cool fossils like corals and shells.
Mobert creek to black river from lampson road is a nice trip too, and the north flowing rivers like the
Foch and Osawin are pretty easy to access and paddle.
@@frogsnacks you are a wealth of local knowledge my friend. Very duly noted and thank you!
What a team you guys make. Happy Birthday Erin!
I have to agree :) Thanks Double D!!
Hope Erin is feeling better, brookie fever is no joke. Great video, thank you!
Watching you guys is better than watching Netflix
Hahaha love that, thanks mode747!!
So glad I found this channel! Thank you for sharing your adventures! Love the scenery and your editing of the videos is awesome! Look forward to seeing more videos in the future!
Thank you so much David!! Really appreciate that!
That Grill looks awesome.. Got to love things that pack up small...
Great video! The burning log time lapse was really creative!
Thanks a bunch Schmitty!!
Just love the music in video it fits well 👌 love watching you both be together.
Thanks again Eileen!! We really appreciate that! 🙏🙏
What is the guitar strumming? Sounds like Los Indios Trabajaros
So fun to take a look back 💜
Thanks a lot Michael :)
Thanks for sharing this adventure! Beautiful waters & scenery. Happy birthday Erin & congrats on your first brook trout.
Thanks a lot Rita! 😀
Thoroughly enjoyable watch. Thanks. Nice to see true northern rivers.👍🍺🛶
Thank you J Winter! So many of them, and so many of them are relatively untraveled...it's wonderful.
Was at the White Otter cabin in '90 with the MNR Tier2Ranger group from Dryden. Sweet. Roads were clearcut back then, probably easier drive in.
This is the greatest channel ever.
You guys make me happy. Keep it up
Aw shucks, thanks a lot Dwayne!!
Those were some serious sand banks! Very neat. And a heck of a waterfall at the end. Awesome stuff as always. Living the dream dude.
I know eh, I don't think I've ever seen them so high along a river...where's the erosion at!? Thanks Jim!!
Happy Birthday 🎂🎁🎉 !
Erin is a beast, brook trout and deep water beware.
Hahaha got that right Devre
you found your self a keeper as in your Erin . a women that can nap on the bare ground is a keeper good job for how she camps gos into the wild with you and has a good time is so awesome
Hahah so true, I lucked out Waylon :D
My favorite RUclips channel! Thanks for sharing.
Wow thanks cybersincere!!!!
I'm a little bit late because of holiday but Erin : Happy Birthday. Again a nice video, thank you! Awesome that you see so many bears on a trip, in Holland we don't have bears and on my trips in Sweden and Norway I also don't see them. I hope the day will come.
Thank you
Thanks gerritvl27! There are a lot in northern Ontario, and in most of Canada. We're lucky to get that experience :) Hope you get it someday!
Afraid not Ed, never been in there. No shortage of lakes though 😀
@@LostLakes Thanks, I'll let you know if I find any "hot spots"

@@LostLakes thank's to you for taking time to answer, really appreciate, even if I comment in my first language
Thanks a lot Peek! Erin has forever changed trips for me. I always thought I preferred solo. Now it sucks when she can't join.
Nice places, nice food, nice video! Thanks Jon and congrats on you Erin's first Brook Trout!
Thanks a lot David, and thanks again for the sweet grill!
Treating fish correctly.. I love it. Continue creating great content!
Thanks Ev Grin!! Not always perfect...but we genuinely care and we do our very best 🙂
Who needs "oodles of fish", when the keeper is already in your boat, Jon? 😉 Great trip! 👍🍺
Exactlyyy 😜👌👌 Thanks man!
"I don't know how to fish". You could of fooled be Erin. Happy birthday and a hundred years on the water..
Hahaha too humble of her...she's fished intermittently through her life, but she does great...her casting accuracy amazes me sometimes. Thanks from both of us potcrak1!
@@LostLakes No thank you for posting good backwoods canoe fishing vids without all the look at me nonsense!
@@potcrak1 hahaha appreciate it!
Looks like it was a great time. As always great video. Brookie flue is a pretty serious condition. You 2 are definitely a blast 2 watch. Thanks for sharing. HAPPY BIRTHDAY. 🎂 👍👍🎣🎣
Hahaha thanks a lot David 😜
Such a lovely video you 2. Congrats Erin on your 1st Brookie, may you never recover from brook fever ;) and a big Happy Birthday. Jon am still enjoying your sense of humour.
Thanks as always Nikki! 😀 Hahaha I think it's going to be a chronic condition...we can only hope so. It's the only disease that's good for your health 😜
@@LostLakes Fingers crossed lol
I’ve had a couple trips like that, first couple spots awesome fishing, trophy trout. You’re thinking “man next few days it’s going to be unreal”. End of trip, still thinking of the first spot.
Hahah exactly...a bit painful!
those are trophies for most of us.
Well done guys, thank you for sharing another great adventure.... Nice fish Erin ...
Thanks Jim! Pretty sweet for her first spec!
Hahaha I think most people would say the same...pretty sweet first!! Definitely true, but I've never been into bait for a few reasons. Lures or bust 😜
@@LostLakes Well if it gives her more power then giv' er
Hahah I'm sure we'll see the light next time
Another awesome video thanks guys ✌️😉
LOL!! Told Erin what you wrote about your wife. Amazing 😂😂 She's one of a kind! She truly love processing firewood. Thanks again Martin!!
Awesome trout. They look 😎 cool. 🧢🚣🏾
Looked like far too much fun... Well done!
That grate is so sweet!
Well that was a real fast 43 minutes...another great video! Keep up the great work! I appreciate your videos, gives me motivation for next year!
Hahah thanks @Labby Rodent, that's what I like to hear!!!
@@LostLakes Have you ever considered Patreon? Or do you already use it?
A few people have asked, but I feel like it's not for me. I'm terrible at accepting favours, help, or gifts 😅 And I suppose I don't like the idea of making people think that they owe me anything for watching. Not to mention that I don't think people want to pay for RUclips content and I bet my earnings would be embarrassingly small lol.
@@LostLakes Most RUclipsrs that use Patreon give Patreon members extra content.
Beautiful brook trout. Once you folks get in to fly fishing you'll find the outings to be incurably addicting.
Hahah just a bit ironic 😜
Nice trip indeed!
You guys may just be on Netflix net year ! Well done !
Bahahah! Thanks man 🙏
love your videos! I should have started doing this 40 years ago! This year, Canada and Alaska though. Not to this detail, but will see some of it.
Much appreciated!! Sounds like a great start :)
I'm still looking to catch my first brookie, well done Erin! Looks like it was a fun trip. Keep chasing that borealis unicorn 🦄
You'll get it sooner or later JK! Got a trip at the end of the month with a killer aurora forecast and even darker skies 🤞🤞 Getting my hopes up as always.
@@LostLakes rootin' for ya, bud!
Great trip guys. Happy birthday Erin🎂
Thanks OAO!!!
And I know you guys liked
Manitou falls a lot but Small falls right off the 614 accross the road from summers lake is probably the nicest falls we have.
Awesome. Looked like a good time. Thanks for the content.
Thanks Tyler!
