I saw this concert at Hammersmith Odean as a 17 yr old back in 82, we didnt realise what we were witnessing, probably in my opinion one of the greatest soul singers ever, performing in his last tour! A few months after this he had his accident and although he managed to come back, the disability he suffered had a profound impact on his vocals. So happy I found this video is on RUclips, which led me to your review such a stunning cover which unfortunately never made it to record RIP Teddy ❤

Lionel was a member of the Commodores when he wrote the song. I don’t think the Commodores rejected the song. Lionel just wrote it for Kenny Rodgers.
