This is a masterpiece. I ve been suffering with depression for 10 years now and everyday I go to bed & wake up feeling life is unbearable due to meaningfulessness. My mind keeps telling me that there is no point in existing. I used to have so many things I loved such as providing help to others. The problem is I don't know how and where to start from. My mind is so confused. It tells me lies about being too traumatised to help others and comforting them even a bit.
My sympathies. I went through a very dark patch a few years ago and I found that physical activity really helped. Taking a walk, doing gardening, spring cleaning a room (even when I didn't feel like it). All of those activities shifted my mood. Also setting goals, like swimming lengths of the pool and gradually increasing my strength. I then moved to educating myself (my life had been pretty shut down by my circumstance). This opened up my mind and I began to find life interesting again. I made a decision to help myself first and when my mood was more stable, to help others, which I have done. Best wishes.
I feel the same way. And, so many things I have tried didn't work out. It's hard to keep getting back up. On the days that I give up, I have tomorrow to try again... A senior doing baby steps!
I'm sorry to hear this. I have a suggestion maybe you haven't tried. The therapy that is most consistent in treating depression is called Behavioral Activation. It really works, if you get someone that knows it well. Good Luck!
