This is an incredible performance when you take into consideration his age, his health, his history. And that we never hear him go for the high notes any more so it's nice to hear what he sounds like when he does. That it's not clean any more doesn't matter, it's Brian Wilson, whatever he sounds like is the voice of one if the greatest song writers ever to have lived. The legend himself singing his legendary song and not making a single mistake aged 80.
This video makes me ugly cry every time I watch it. 😅to think of how much he suffered but brought so much joy and love to my life, and millions of others. I have so much gratitude for this man. ❤
Musical royalty with a kind gentle heart. Pet Sounds is one amazing album. It was the record that changed everything. Glad you are doing well Brian Wilson.
When Brian pressed the first note on the piano then remembered how to play God Only Knows it reminded of the scene from Love & Mercy when Paul Dano the young Brian Wilson was writing it.
Thankfully, that scene was actually in accurate and his father apparently never disapproved of that song, although I would not put it past him, Murray Wilson is a monster. Brian is deaf in his right ear because of that man. One of the best songwriters of all time cannot even hear his own compositions in stereo. Yet he still somehow produced them to sound great in stereo.
I think Brian almost forgot how to play it because he doesn't play it on stage combined with all the stuff that goes off in his head. I like he how sounds here you can kind of feel what he's going through mentally and physically
My hero. Greatest American songwriter. 20th century Mozart. Until I get married, or have children, the greatest moment of my life will forever be getting to meet him. It was even more special because it was with my dad, the guy who introduced me to all of the wonderful music of the 60s and 70s. my most valuable possession is Pet Sounds with Brian and Al’s Signature
@@IiIiIiIOnTop nope, wrong. He is widely regarded by other amazing songwriters as one of the best. He was the only one on the planet, who could compete with Paul McCartney and John Lennon, but they had the best producer of all time in George Martin. Brian Wilson just had a Brian Wilson. So Mr. amazing music critic, who makes horrible statements, who do you think are the greatest songwriters of all time? By your look, I would imagine GG Allin or something. 😇 don’t talk shit about Brian Wilson.
Tears in my eyes man. This is my elderly dad and dog’s song. Hearing elderly Brian sing it so gracefully melts my heart. Colbair is insincere and can suck it.
How was it!? I saw him live about six or seven years ago. Is he still touring with Al Jardine? God bless Al Jardine. He cares so much for his friend. Wilson doesn’t do a whole lot on stage, but they help him on and off and make sure to sit him behind a piano. My dad must’ve taken out a second mortgage on the house but he’s somehow afforded to get us a meet and greet before the show. Brian is the nicest man ever. Well, he’s signed my vinyl copy of pet sounds I told him just how much that album and his music meant to me, and he genuinely replied “well thank you so much, I really appreciate that”. I just love that man.
There is Pure Genius, Johann Sebastian Bach. Then there is Better Than Pure Genius, Brian Wilson. Brian Wilson, Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, John Williams. In that Order. : ) Such a Beautiful Song in E Major. THIS SONG IS PLAYED in 3 DIFFERENT KEYS: E, D, and A. 7 KEY CHANGES IN THIS SONG: Starts off in the Key of A Major --> E Major --> D Major --> A Major --> D Major --> A Major --> and Ends in the Key of E Major. 26 CHORDS THAT USE DIFFERENT CHORD TONES AS THE ROOT OF THE CHORD. No Wonder it's a Difficult Song to Wrap our Heads Around....... : ) MonsterPianoPlayer

I love this man so much.
He has brought so much musical joy and sadness into my life.
I cannot thank him and his Brothers enough.
Love you too Brian.
You are a true hero Brian. Love and Mercy.
This hits different now his wife died and he suffers from dementia

i just cried here too hehe. much love and mercy to you
What a beautiful performance
I imagine Brian thinks about his brothers Carl and Dennis every time he performs Beach Boys songs. I wish I could give him a hug.

Somehow this particular song gets stronger as his voice gets weaker.
Perfect comment ❤️
That is a beautiful statement.
He sounds great !!!

@@BlompBlompson-wh5vl I mean just the faith that the wrecking crew had in him at such a young age with complete creative control says so much.
The visuals.
The sounds.
What a piece of art this video is.
Amazing.

Legend at work ❤
Sounds sharp
You can't expect ever live performance to be a spot on.
You look flat
He's 80 years old man and has been through hell and back, i thought this was a great performance
OMG BEAUTIFUL!
So excited to see him live in a couple of months!

Here's a crazy idea: Move the microphone closer to him.
here's an even crazier idea, stop being a twat
Love & Mercy
There was no microphone. This was during the lockdown so this was probably being done from Zoom.
