    I use that Milwaukee drill more than my gen 3 Fuel because of how much easier it is to use. It can can suit a lot people's needs just fine.The Fuel is just such a raw power, and the new Dewalt tools are just so ergonomic, powerful, and easy to control it makes me want to buy from them as well.

      I agree with you. Either of these drills is a great options. I feel like at some point Milwaukee will revise and have a new more powerful offering but for now Dewalt has the crown. The Milwaukee brushless was my first Milwaukee drill and it certainly enough for most things.

    Most of my tools are dewalt but I will buy a tool if it works for me, I also have 5 m12 tools because of what they do. The dcd800 Compared to the other drills I own it does have most of everything I need in one drill. I like how realistic your comparisons are.

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  Год назад +1

      How much work a battery will do on a single charge is represented by the Ah rating. In this case DEWALT was used with a 1.7ah battery and the Milwaukee is on a 3ah battery. So I would expect that if their power draw was exactly the same you could achieve almost twice as much on the bigger battery. But DEWALT makes bigger batteries too.

    Good review - could you use bigger bits? I've seen 2 9/16"+ bits used for this Dewalt dcd800 - I wonder how close it is to the 999 on torque - what do you think?

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  2 года назад

      I plan on comparing this new 800 to the 996. I don’t have a 999 currently but it should give you some idea of what It would do. I have gotten some bigger bits that what you see here but I don’t yet have something that big. We will have to see if I can get my hands on one.

    You are comparing a top tier Dewalt XR drill with PowerStack 5.0 against a mid-tier, NON-Fuel Milwaukee with a CP 3.0 battery. Do you consider that a fair comparison ?

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  Год назад +1

      The DCD800 is an XR drill but it’s not their top model. The Milwaukee Fuel model is more a comparison for the DCD999 not this tool. So it’s not the most direct comparison no but there isn’t a really fair comparison in the Milwaukee lineup to that tool. Also the DEWALT is using a power stack 1.7ah not the 5. The idea there was that they were both using a compact yet more premium battery in their lineup.

    Hi there! I wanted to know your opinion about dcd800 chuck, does it ever slipped when you use round shank drill bits?
    I just notice that dcd800,805 chuck are a little bit different from dcd 996,999 and i’m now curious that it will hold bits the same or not.

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  Год назад

      I haven't noticed any issues with it. I haven't done a ton of demanding drilling with that type of bit where I would expect a problem might occur. I had it drop a 1/4" hex bit but I have chalked that up to my own user error since it hasn't been a recurring problem.

      @@seabreezeof the 5ah will get you more power. If it were me with my money I would pick the 800 unless I had needs for the hammer function or was planning on doing more heavy duty stuff. The 800 is the middle weight that can hit with the heavy weights and does an excellent job. That doesn’t mean it can stick with them forever but for most people it’s more than enough.

    It would have been a fair comparison if he didn’t use a power stack on the dewalt. If he wanted to compare apples to apples he needed to use a forged battery on the Milwaukee or get a 3ah dewalt battery then it would have been a fair comparison but stacked lithium is just a superior battery technology and anyone who knows tools knows a battery can greatly affect the performance of a tool.

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  6 месяцев назад

      I agree that it's not a super fair comparison but more because Milwaukee doesn't truly make a comparable drill to the DCD800. It's more compact than their fuel options, but not as powerful. It's roughly as compact as the Milwaukee here but significantly more powerful. While the powerstack battery does benefit the Dewalt here, it's not their fault that Milwaukee doesn't make a small and light lithium pouch style battery. Also just for further clarification this video was made more than a year before Milwaukee Forge batteries were announced.

    how is the weight on on the dewalt? looks compact

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  2 года назад +1

      It’s smaller than the Milwaukee in length but is actually just a little bit heavier. I wouldn’t call either of them heavy if you are keeping the battery smaller. The 5ah feels less balanced than the power stack but it’s still not bad.

    • @UncleIvan1
      @UncleIvan1 2 года назад

      @@TinkerWithTools yeah it's same with the dcd850 , even though it's really compact it still got some weight to it. I'm assuming if you need to get in the tight spaces, this drill is ideal. the power is impressive too.

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  6 месяцев назад +1

      XR is their top tier but this isn't the top of their top tier XR. It's not a perfect comparison but if i had put it against the Fuel Drill in this comparison, it wouldn't have been all that fair in the other direction either.

  • @DiligentDave1966
    @DiligentDave1966 Год назад

    That is actually a low tier Milwaukee. The 2902 is the mid tier non fuel brushless Milwaukee drill.

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  Год назад +1

      The 2902 is the hammer drill and you are right that it’s more powerful but this is Milwaukee compact brushless drill driver. That’s where I was going with the comparison. The 2902 is also not common at all in the stores around me but this was what I had. Not a perfect comparison but nothing really compares to the dcd800 when it comes the blend of power and speed with how small it is.

    • @DiligentDave1966
      @DiligentDave1966 Год назад

      @@TinkerWithTools I think the 2902 would compare to the dcd800 very well in size and performance, but I agree that it’s not in stock at most stores.

    • @TinkerWithTools
      @TinkerWithTools  2 года назад

      The DCD800 is DeWalt's replacement for the DCD791 which was the direct competition for the Milwaukee Brushless. So while this new drill is quite a bit more powerful, it is still competition for that Milwaukee.

    At work, they switched drill brands from dewalt to Milwaukee . Both were the top offerings, in short I really miss my dewalt. More power, better speed especially in hammerdrill mode that we used them for often. Even for drilling 1 ⅜" holes in aluminum dewalt is the better drill.
