Yes there is some truth in your statement, although I myself got IIT Delhi on 652 and my girlfriend had got IIT kgp on 635. one might argue that branches were interdisciplinary but thats the point, how could one get whatever they want when people have scored more than their score! 🙃

Hi Debabrata, I revisited you doubt again. Turns out previously like in 2020 and 2019 IITs while inviting for spot rounds have mentioned in their instructions that "only those should be considered in spot round who have not accepted some offer in main rounds + special rounds" In our times it was possible for students to go for spot rounds even after accepting something. But seems like you cannot do that now. Btw the spot round invitations will be made on website of particular IIT. I hope you get your answers!
