As well as that may be - I still need to find an other narrowboat channel I can turn to for my weekly fix of canal boating. Especially since the only other boating channel I watched announced "we're done" in the SAME F#$% WEEK... :(
Thank you for sharing the final part of your journey on your own narrowboat with us. I've always appreciated your narration. You are candid, humorous, and sparkling with good information about the places you go, and the people you meet. I look forward to your next set of adventures!
Thank you for featuring the CRT and volunteers. They get a lot criticism from a few boaters who seem to have little or no idea how vital they are. It is tricky to keep vlogs interesting and informed without overloading your audience, you nail it every time. A voice custom made for easy listening is a real gift. It is easy to feel a connection with your reactions. You speeded up, you aligned (erm) idiosyncratically with an offset lock and it did not matter. This was about completing the journey. The boat looked beautiful as she neared her return and she, like you, will go on to new adventures. One big question remains, are you absolutely sure that was a real heron? With canalside mannequins etc, one can only wonder what next! Hopefully you be out and about soon, perhaps with more travel flexibility. Very best wishes for your new adventures, from the unpaid Beavercraft fan.🪂🤿🎿⛵
David, you were the first RUclipsr I subscribed to. I have enjoyed your journey so far and will continue to I'm sure. You have a way of telling a story, with words and video, that keep me glued to my chair til the very end! All the best from Missouri.
The epic saga comes to an end. I was one of your first three hundred subscribers, and loved all your video's. I especially enjoyed your tea time chats, the wood stove ticking over in the background. I was over joyed when shortly after your first year you decided to extend your experiment. You have done the canals justice and given us glorious prose and photo's of a life very few of us will ever realize. I follow all your Chanels and enjoy your camper van almost as much as your boat life. Thank you for sharing and showing an old retired American what the UK is all about. looking forward to your new stuff.
This channel helped me through some very difficult times. The beauty and tranquility of the canals and the charming presentation was balm to my troubles.
ASF the code Chili breeze and wet tunnel will make me think you've caught another cold in the wet and damp weather in beautiful England I enjoyed it thank you 👍🇺🇦
David, you have given us much enjoyment over you 6 year journey. We love you proper British narration and dry humour. We will look forward to the next steps.
Thank you, David, for sharing your six-year mid-life crisis. What an adventure! A sad but triumphant time I think as you set off on adventures new. Will you share your house-hunting days with us? (Escape to the Country look out!) If that's too private give us a few inside looks at the trials and tribulations of moving from a boat to dry land. I'm sure we all wish you every success David - you have been part of our lives for so long. John, Ontario, Canada.
There won't be any house-specific stuff here as the channel remains focused on canals and boats etc but it might sneak into shot occasionally (more likely over on the campervan channel)
Thank you for so many hours of enjoyment. I'm going to miss your 'cruising videos'.... As an Australian, I found a delightful quaintness being a passenger on your boat and watching the gorgeous U.K. scenery drift past at a leisurely 3 miles an hour.
This is the content I have missed the most and will miss again in the future. No matter how many other narrowboaters there are, none will be able to replace your comments, your humour and your way of cruising. 😥😥
I would be lying if I said I wasn't sad to see the end of your canal vlogs pal. They've offered hours of viewing pleasure. Looking forward to the next chapter though! Keep up the good work.
David-- Your closing out your time traveling on your narrowboat is bittersweet. Your insights, graciousness and warm, eloquent communication while on the water will be greatly missed-- though I do look forward to your next chapter of 'Cruising the Cut'. As with most everyone that has followed your journey, you have become a friend to many of us. You opened our eyes to a life and lifestyle that I never imagined. Friends with whom I shared your videos were instantly captivated. You should know that your vlogs allowed me, and I'm sure a great many others, the ability to enjoy and savor a life experience which was a grand departure from lives with little or no chance for change. You therefore provided a doorway to a grand adventure with a friend that I was always, and will always, be rooting for. Know that your service to others has been immense and a real gift! God bless you as you move forward! Mark
I'll have to admit that I was a little sad watching you on your finale voyage. I've watched all your videos over the years and totally enjoyed all your adventures. Your photography has given me a wonderful look at your beautiful country. A look that I couldn't have gotten any other way. I had no idea what a narrow boat was until I stumbled across your channel. It's been entertaining and educational as well. The channel of course is you and because of that I can't wait to see what's ahead. Thank you for giving me a perspective that is very special. Dean
End of an era. As people have stated already. It really was your scenes of the canals from the boat that made the videos relaxing. Sort of a canalling vicariously.
David, you were the first canal traveler I saw on You Tube and you introduced me to the wonders of the British canals. Thanks for letting me ride with you and I look forward to your travels in the future. Best from Virginia in the States!!!
It's got to be bittersweet leaving your narrow boat. All the beauty and good times, and places you've been. All great adventures. Truly enjoy your videos
You may not have been sad, but many followers will have been. I fully understand your reasons and I hope that there is much more to come from you, but for now no one should be sad but everyone should be grateful for a remarkable series of armchair journeys. Thank you, David and good luck.
Coming soon from the maker of Cruising the Cut: Kayaking the Colorado! Watch as David teams up with Bear Grylls and Jeremy Clarkson to conquer the Class 5 rapids of some of America's most exciting and dangerous rivers! 😀
Having been a fan from the beginning, I'll admit I was a bit sad to see this phase come to an end but I'm eagerly awaiting whatever new adventures await! Cheers and Godspeed David!
For all of us boaties here in southeast Louisiana/southwest Mississippi, your VLOG is closely watched & admired. A lot of us retirees who live on boats or spend time & money, lots of it, on our boats, we stop everything to watch an episode of your videos. With copious amounts of alcohol consumed while watching...
I've thoroughly enjoyed cruising the cut with you David, thank you so much for such an amazing journey. Wishing you every happiness in your new abode. ❤
My canals are dusty outback roads, My locks are cattle grids, My motorbike is my narrowboat. I have enjoyed your trips as much as I still enjoy mine. Thanks Mate for the tranquil side of life.
I'm sure in your years of cruising, there have probably been a number that you would like to have quickly dispatched......boaters, that is :) We truly appreciate the time and effort you put into these videos over the years, and are thankful you have brought us with you. And we are looking forward to your future endeavors, David!
I can't say the same as Rebecca below, I'm just a Covid refugee who was looking for something to fill my "Shut down "so its just over 2 years for me and I must say it's been a delightful experience following all your cruises and vlogs featuring everything from Canal reclamation schemes, Van conversion ,adventures on the Wash and interviews with some very interesting people. So a big thank you David for allowing me to tag along and although this part is ending I look forward to watching the things you publish in the future as I know they will be interesting. Good luck David you deserve some good luck . Cheers from me & Spring on the east coast of Canada
Thank you David for a lovely and enjoyable series, showing us life on a Canal boat and the English Countryside. As other people have mentioned, the calmness is part of the charm. Love your intro with the diesel engine rather than music. All done very tastefully. Best wishes for the next part of your journey from Rob Healey, Australia.
The volunteers we met along our journey we just wonderful! Thank you volunteers for your marvelous work. They saved us jumping off the boat to open the locks
Thank you, David, for a wonderful series (so far !) and I would like to agree with Gary Cowan - you ARE the original and best. A few years ago you actually inspired us to hire a narrowboat, and on day two you sailed past us in the opposite direction, heading to Braunston in your distinctive red anorak and I was so stunned at seeing you that I just stood at the tiller with my jaw dropped. At this late stage may I just say 'Hi' ! Finally I've said it to you.
The hanging up of the tiller. Thank you David for all your hard work in producing and editing all your vlogs over the years. You will have fond memories of your cruising I am sure. Time the most Powerful force in the universe changes all. Good luck in your new adventures I hope you enjoy your new found space on tera Firma. We look forward to viewing your new to you vlogs in the future. Keep safe warm dry and virus free.
it must be coming out of Covid but you're the third of my Subscriptions that are starting a NEW adventure: Good Luck and may Fortune Smile on You! Thanks for All the Videos (Fish)!! Good Luck David!!!
Thank you David, so much for taken me along on your canal adventure,it has been so memorable,I wish you many many more adventures in your life, your one of the good guys, long may your adventures continue....Sean ☘☘☘☘
Thanks David, another great vid. I first saw your channel when in the first lockdown in Chesterfield whilst visiting my brother-in-law. Your videos inspired my wife and I to have a go, so we are here again from Australia, two years later, and have just completed our first narrow boat trip, a week on board between Llangollen and Whitchurch.
David, I would like to thank you for the last 6 years on a great peek into life on a narrow-boat, and allowing us from the USA to tag along on what its like. My mom spent about 30-45 days on the canal back in the mid 80's. She really enjoyed herself, and I still have the full collection of all the drink coasters that she got at every pub she stopped at along the way. I wish I would have known exactly what her route was and were she actually went. She passed away 15 years ago and never talked much about that trip, and when she did I was a teenager that knew everything and to young to really care. Congratulations and best of luck on your future voyages! While its sad to see the "end of an era", I know as a boat owner the best days are the purchase and sale dates of your boat! 😁👍 I can't wait until the next venture begins! The best boat to be on is someone else's boat for sure. Its much cheaper and easier to go boating! As the old saying goes when visitors are on board remind them that the boat don't run on "thank you's!"
Last one. I have really enjoyed your journeys. Now that you and the Foxes guys are done, I will be skipping my narrowboat fix (there is no US equivalent of this) but I really enjoyed learning about your country, your canals and all of the things you discussed. I will finish by saying I saw the Pink Floyd CD's in the first video I watched of yours, and decided I had to listen, as you must be a very thoughtful and insightful person to listen to them and others of that ilk. So my deepest thanks for your work. So long, and Thanks for all the Fish.
David, I have quite enjoyed your cruising content since I first discovered your channel about a year ago. You have helped my anxiety immensely with the calming nature of your videos, and the smooth quality of your production is nearly unmatched on RUclips! I will miss this chapter of your life, but I am excited to see your upcoming content!
We have been with you from the first. Have been following the boat sell at the broker site, my goodness it takes forever to sell/buy a boat. Makes us apricate even more what you were talking about in your first few vlogs. When you get your studio set up in the new home would love to see that (ex radio girl myself). So looking forward to many boats and canal stories. Many blessing to you and yours..
It's only been in the last few months that I discovered Cruising the Cut. After watching a handful of videos about the joys of canal life, of which I have had limited but some experience, I set about watching about 250 of the videos every day until I had caught up. It was my escape from the real cruel world. For that I am so very grateful to David. His inimitable style and humour just hits the spot every time and has helped me get though some difficult periods recently. Yes, there are thousands of canal themed videos out there now but there is only ONE Cruising the Cut! It came as quite a shock when I heard David was selling up. It isn't just about selling a boat, it's more emotional to viewers I think because it's about giving up a uniquely expressed lifestyle that is so different from the world we experience these days. I would like to thank David for all the joy that these films have given me and for sharing them with us all. I sincerely hope everything works out back on dry land and our journey with that unfolding story continues, I'll certainly keep following CtC and Vandamonium. But I do secretly hope, as I'm sure others do too, that David, as others have done after a break from the canals, returns to our waterways as Captain once again. But for now, thank you so very much David, Captain, my Captain!
I love cruising the canal. Wish I could do it myself. Being disabled I don't think I could manage the locks. But how beautiful and peaceful it can be. Thank you. As always much love and God bless.
Thanks so very much for sharing your last adventure on your journey around the English country side. Your insightful, informative and humorous commentary was very much appreciated and enjoyed by my wife and myself. Sad to see it coming to an end. BUT we all will be looking forward to seeing your next Adventure. Take care of yourself and enjoy yourself and stay safe. See you next time from the Great Smokey Mountains of East Tennessee, USA.
And a chapter closes. I shall join plenty of others in thanking you for creating such a superb collection of videos up to this point. I suspect we're all a bit more emotional than you! Here's to future content, David. Excelsior! 😁👍👏
Thanks David, it's been lovely sharing your travels so much joy you've brought. Really looking forward to following your future experiences both on this channel and on Vandermonium too 😀 👍
A sad day and the end of an era. I looked forward to your professionalism and got my narrow boating fix from your channel but we must look forward to whatever you bring to us in the future. All the best David In whatever you get up to. From a subscriber for life.
I’ve watched from the start to the end! It seems so long ago when there were only a few NB channels, Narrowboat Experience, Narrowboat Helen, It’s a Narrowboat Thing, London Boat Girl, Narrowboat to the the Deep North and Robbie. I probably missed one or two but not many! I bought a boat, sold a boat and now I have a campervan! I’m like you, when I make a decision I know is right, I have no regrets. Thanks for sharing. I look for ward to seeing where your journey takes you in the future. Good luck.
David I appreciate that you’ve fallen out of love with cruising. But we all love your cruising videos, including your witty informative commentary. You’re a diamond in the rough.
Howdy Dave and great to be on the last cruise with you. I love that part of the canal system. Enjoy the next times of your adventure in life. Cheers Keith Melbourne Australia
You were the first narrowboater I followed. I loved your love of narrowboating, the fact that you enjoy science fiction (see end of this video), and just seemed an all around nice person. I look forward to your next adventures.
we moor at North Kilworth Marina and I was sad to see your boat on the brokerage moorings. I know your channel will continue but I shall miss your cruising videos. Watching your channel allowed us to fall in love with the canals all over again, culminating in the purchase of nb Phoenix.
A wonderful vlog to bring this chapter of your life to a close. It was, as usual, superb viewing and listening. The sound of the boat, the commentary and the sounds of nature with no distracting music all combine to make a truly relaxing 20 mins or so of viewing pleasure. I wish you all the best for the changes coming and look forward to whatever you produce and publish in the future. Thank you for all the vlogs you have done so far, all very much appreciated and eagerly awaited each week. Cheers.
Will definitely stay tuned, David! So sorry to see this, the end of your continuous cruising, though. Have followed you from the beginning and have so enjoyed your quirky comments, your dry wit, your lovely photography. Great good luck on your future adventures.
Life goes on, tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life. Good look. That doesnt mean that there will be no more content or that Vandemonium will cease. maybe we will see new stuff as well. Best wishes in whatever you do.
I live in the states and your channel was the first narrow boat channel I watched and enjoyed. I can't wait for all the exciting and new adventures that await you.
🥲, what a vlog! I’m so going to miss you chundering along. But I’m glad your moving onwards and upwards, I, for one, can’t wait to see what happens next to the emperor johns the mirthful!!!!
“Putting the hammer down!” Haha! That’s a phrase I have not heard since those 80’s country songs here in the States. Watching your cruising videos is what hooked me to your channel. I sure hope to see your new videos soon. Cheers!
The end of an era. Truly. It has been a joy following your adventures throught he years. Before i stumbled upon your "Coalfinger" video some years ago, and not knowing what a narrowboat was, i have fallen in love with boating videos. I even dream of maybe owning a boat one day. I am looking forward to many more years of boating videos on this channel, and vandemonium videos on the other. You are a delight, a gentleman, and a scholar good sir.
Loved watching your journeys, loved your videos, loved the bits of ‘banter’. They were an enjoyable part of lockdown….looking forward to watching more if your more recent ones David. You definately touched on why I loved being on a boat…the pace of life and being closer to nature….and away from idiots, although there are plenty of those wherever we go! Keep up the good work!
Yes, yes, more to come, I know 😊 I still can't help but feel a little sad. Over the past 2 years, making it through all of your vlogs, you've unknowingly helped me through some extremely tough times. And for that, I can't thank you enough. The comfort, smiles and inspiration you've given me (and many others, I'm sure), has been immeasurable. So much so, I'm sitting on a Seamaster 30, on the Norfolk Broads, listening to the birds tweeting away, and watching the mist roll across the river. Readying myself today, to start on some renovation. Insulation coming first! How I will fare, over the winter, with a canopy covered centre cockpit, time will tell 😁 Thanks again David, for the difference you have made, and I look forward to watching your next videos, from the serenity of the Broads 😊 All the very best 👍
Thank you, David, for another great video. May your voyage continue well. So many great memories and new knowledge from all your sharing. I was chuckling over the word "locky", once again.
I hope, once you've waved goodbye to your boat and ensconced yourself in your new house, that you'll be doing some wonderful DIY and gardening videos David.
Whilst I know that David intends to continue making canal themed videos I am tinged with sadness to think that yet another liveaboard has left the canals. One by one my favourite canal channels have left the waters ( Journey with Jono, Narrowboat Experience, Foxes Afloat …………). Thank you David for sharing your canal life with us. I definitely look forward to watching your new adventures. 🫳👍👏👏👍😀 Andrew
I never thought any of them, especially Foxes Afloat and David, would EVER become landlubbers again. I am still a bit shell shocked. Only thing I can think of, that set them thinking, was the Covid pandemic!
May I just say it’s been a real privilege to come with you on your canal adventures. Your footage has reminded me how little I have seen of the UK, despite living here all my life, and I must remedy that soon!
So good to see you out and about on the cut and in your own boat for the last time. From now on, when we see you on the Cut, it will be with others. Looking forward to the variety of boats and canals that you will be sharing with us. Thank you, David, for taking us with you on your canal journeys over the last 5 or so years. It has been great fun seeing these wonderful old canals through your eyes. I have learned so much along the way. Hope that it all works out well for you. Stay safe and well. Cheers from Down under.
A frisky goose, a sheep spray painted by some ambitious hooligans, a sentinel canal dog, friendly volunteers, a shy heron, a little bump and grind, a soggy tunnel and unsolicited "advice" from other cruisers, indeed a trip down memory lane! Great vlog my friend, it truly has been an interesting experience.👍
Soon as it popped up, I fell in love with that house and the surroundings. Tried to look it up on Google maps , but for some reason, I could not locate it. Did you think about finding the exact location by any chance?
Whoever bought your boat will be constantly waved at I'm sure..... I'd be a bit sad the last time the key is removed, but glad you're not the sort to dwell - looking forward to the new boaty content! Thanks for all the hard work you've put in over the years - you are probably the original Narrowboat vlogger?
You may have closure with the whole selling etc. but I feel this to be an oddly bittersweet moment, nostalgic even... having lived vicariously through your delightful puttering about the cut. At any rate, can't wait to see what you cook up next. All the best in all your endeavours!
Many thanks David. It has been a pleasure to watch your VLOGS across the last years and again during lockdown, when there wasn't much else happening. Good luck with your adventures new and life back on land!
Just for those that don't read the description: "There WILL be further canal videos on this channel, this is not the end!"
😀👍🏻
As well as that may be - I still need to find an other narrowboat channel I can turn to for my weekly fix of canal boating. Especially since the only other boating channel I watched announced "we're done" in the SAME F#$% WEEK... :(
We are glad you have a store of travels past. Memories for you and crusing for us., XOX
Thank you for sharing the final part of your journey on your own narrowboat with us. I've always appreciated your narration. You are candid, humorous, and sparkling with good information about the places you go, and the people you meet. I look forward to your next set of adventures!

@@CruisingTheCut Thanks for one of the best series on YT. This is why I haven't watched TV in years.

Not going to lie, I teared up a bit. Wreyland, from beginning to end it was a beautiful ride.
This is the content I have missed the most and will miss again in the future.
No matter how many other narrowboaters there are, none will be able to replace your comments, your humour and your way of cruising. 😥😥
I really like your phrase "away from the hateful world so full of vitriol and angry people". We can't escape it.
I would be lying if I said I wasn't sad to see the end of your canal vlogs pal. They've offered hours of viewing pleasure. Looking forward to the next chapter though! Keep up the good work.

Mark . Your words have so eloquently summarized how most of us viewers of cruising the cut feel .
Greetings from Canada.

Yes, definitely still around!
I like to think that we are the caretakers, and we move things on when the time is right. Cheers Mate! Safe travels..
it must be coming out of Covid but you're the third of my Subscriptions that are starting a NEW adventure: Good Luck and may Fortune Smile on You! Thanks for All the Videos (Fish)!! Good Luck David!!!
Best of luck on all your new adventures. Thanks for the hours of information and entertainment over these years.
Superb! I hope you had a splendid time.
Love the ending. That was a Flash of inspiration.
Pink Floyd are supreme!
I love radio 😀
@@CruisingTheCut we know it not really relevant to vlogging but utube is caring that spirt on or we would like to think it does..
Good luck with the sale of your boat and removal. Look forward to your next tale.
Oh how I will miss your wonderful Narrow Boat trips, and your great dry humor. Be Blessed !!!
Excelsior! 😁👍👏
"The hateful world full vitriol and anger". Indeed. And your videos are an excellent way to depart from that dreadful place. Thank you!
Lovely to see your final video in your own canal boat David . Looking forward to your new adventures !
I'm quite horrible in real life
@@CruisingTheCut Hah hum, I'm not buying that. 😀
we moor at North Kilworth Marina and I was sad to see your boat on the brokerage moorings.
Cheers.
Looking forward never back ! Good luck and happiness in your new place🙋♂️
Thank you!
David,
You are an emotional anchor for me....your video's are Soothing thing for me. Thank you for posting these videos.
Very much looking forward to your new chapter in life.
As it is now mid April, one hopes all is well and settled in your new home. 👍
Not yet but hopefully soon. The purchase process is tedious.
Thank you so, so much for all the travels! Looking forward to more.
🥲, what a vlog! I’m so going to miss you chundering along. But I’m glad your moving onwards and upwards, I, for one, can’t wait to see what happens next to the emperor johns the mirthful!!!!
Hopefully it's the chuntering along that you miss. David chundering along is an entirely different (and much less soothing) class of video...
Thank you
New restaurant called “The Waterfront” without any welcoming berths for boaters…good stuff as usual thx Captain
Thank you
Yes, yes, more to come, I know 😊 I still can't help but feel a little sad. How I will fare, over the winter, with a canopy covered centre cockpit, time will tell 😁
Thanks again David, for the difference you have made, and I look forward to watching your next videos, from the serenity of the Broads 😊
All the very best 👍
Farewell Wreyland! Thanks for showing me around the canals. Looking forward to seeing your future adventures David! Cheers from 🇨🇦
Thank you, David, for another great video. May your voyage continue well.
So many great memories and new knowledge from all your sharing. I was chuckling over the word "locky", once again.
I hope, once you've waved goodbye to your boat and ensconced yourself in your new house, that you'll be doing some wonderful DIY and gardening videos David.
totally agree
I would 100% watch a gardening & DIY channel by David.
he might do that too.
Unlikely, to be honest, I've got enough to do making canal and van videos!
Thank you David for another great video, and the final voyage on Wreyland . All the best for the next chapter on this great channel.
Appreciate the final cruise on this boat - I look forward to new adventures! Loved the last few seconds!
As an ex Hillmorton lad, living in RSA for the last 40 years lve followed you adventures from day one
Thank you
PS Don't miss the mud.
Thanks for the flash Gordon ending
The end of an era….many thanks ...all the best...Chris 🇨🇦
Cheers!
@@2760ade I had that same thought. The pandemic changed the way we all view the world and my own personal future plans changed too.
May I just say it’s been a real privilege to come with you on your canal adventures. Your footage has reminded me how little I have seen of the UK, despite living here all my life, and I must remedy that soon!
I love your informative and entertaining vlogs. I will indeed stay tuned. ❤️
The end of an era, but hopefully the beginning of a new one. 🤞🤞
That house at about 5:06 must be the most beautiful house I have ever seen, I'm glad you have continued your adventures.
Soon as it popped up, I fell in love with that house and the surroundings. Tried to look it up on Google maps , but for some reason, I could not locate it. Did you think about finding the exact location by any chance?
Ah good old Wreyland. It's been a pleasure sailing with you.
Good luck in your new adventures David.
Actually no, I was probably number 2. The first was Dan Brown of "Sort of Interesting"!
That was the best Easter egg ending I’ve seen in a while!!!!! Now I’ve got visions of you flying away on a hawkman rocket cycle!! 🤣🤣🤣
That would be so much fun!
