@@luuktorn ofc! I am an enthusiast of early 18th / late 17th century clothing, good work btw, last time your passacaglia inspired me to study the piece, now I shall do "la folia"
This performance is a masterpiece! The duel between Scarlatti and Handel, both in their stunning wigs, is as visually striking as it is musically impressive. The La Folia improvisation truly brings out the best of both composers, and we're thrilled that our wigs could be part of such a historically inspired and creative project. Bravo to everyone involved for such an authentic and captivating presentation! 🎶🎼 #HistoricalElegance #ProudSupplier
Stellar! I must say, I would be in heaven to be in that room with all those wonderful instruments! I'd like to know more about that blue 2-manual and pedal organ in the corner, including the stoplist!
After their first showing, Handel took it personally and decided to go on the offensive. Wasn’t about to let Scarlatti get away with the showboating he had going on with the Passacaglia
This was excellent! But help me understand the reasoning for the selection of Arcangelo Corelli's Opus 5, nr 12 versus another Handel piece? I guess Handel doesn't have a variation on La Folia? I am not so knowledge on him.
Thanks! La folia was a famous progression in that time, and Händel also used it, for instance in his Sarabande: ruclips.net/video/xOLQd_pUbxs/видео.htmlsi=XhR1Si8-T34EVXzK
Sir/mam! By not mentioning HANDEL you have made great insult! I shall have satisfaction on behalf of maestro HANDEL! We meet in three days by the great tree south of Handel's birthtown for a duel with rapier as our weapon! :D
Well… we knew that the battle did not happen in the beginning with these type of instruments for sure; in any case the conclusion was that Händel at the time considered superior on the organ, and instead Scarlatti with the harpsichord… but after several hours of musical fighting though.
For those who doesn't know the name of the piece: is La Folia composed by Arcangelo Corelli around the year 1700 for violin, cello and basso continuo (harpsichord) in d minor
I got the wigs from Claires Wig's on Etsy and I rented the costumes from Historische Kostuums in the Netherlands. The shoes were just modern low black shoes with a bow as decoration :)
Yes! I've heard 100s of "Folias" and Salieri's is one of my two favorites -- but it has to be performed by a good orchestra, like Bamert's, or it dies . . . it doesn't sound like what most people think is a Salieri piece -- it's decades ahead of other stuff composed at the same time (c. 1815?)

Wow I was serching this battle a lot of time, because the history say they had two battles, in harpsichord and pipeorgan
The jump from pipe organ to harpsichord was the best part of this video😂😂 2:28
Those are some beautiful instruments. It is my absolute dream to play on a harpsichord, and better yet own one of my own.
I love these videos! Sublime music and fun competition at the same time. Thanks for posting.
Glad to hear, thank you! We had also much fun doing this project.

This is absolutely amazing! Gave me a great chuckle! En ook nog eens bij Klop!
Yet another outstanding performance . Thank you very much😊
Incredibly talented Maestro.
And now it's time to end the battle and cooperate, one on organ and one on harpsichord, that would be even better to hear.
Haha indeed! But I suspect the rivalry between them is still too strong for a harmonious duet just yet!

How did you manage to play two roles by yourself?
I didn't, I played the role of Händel, and my brother that of Scarlatti
