I've waited so long for this! I feel like I enter a withdrawal period waiting for videos. Anyways I was a bit surprised that Avola took this. If there's one thing that Joppich is best at it's identifying where he needs to adapt and doing so despite what the score is. No shaming on Avola, who's also great at doing this, I just feel that Joppich generally does it better. Clearly not here.

This was one of several of my favourite matches from Rio. This is a great example of two foilists who are masters of the game trying to outsmart each other tactically and it very clearly shows. What a great match.

I'm new to fencing and your channel but Yuki Ota vs Giorgio Avola in the TEAM EVENT is one my favorite exchanges in fencing. Would love to see your analysis on Japan vs Italy

You mean from London? I can do that sometime, assuming I can find the raw footage somewhere.

Pools have been posted for the Tokyo Men's Foil World Cup.
Team USA has eight fencers competing in the prelim rounds tomorrow: Sam Moelis, Geoffrey Tourette, Nick Itkin, Gregory Mitberg, Duncan Rheingans-Yoo, Jerry Chang, Adam Mathieu and Brian Kaneshige.
Alex Massialas, Race Imboden, Miles Chamley-Watson and Gerek Meinhardt have byes into the 64 on Saturday.
Are you going to cover this event?! I would also like to hear your thoughts on Tokyo 2020

I'm probably not going to cover world cups very closely, certainly not as closely as the Olympics. I might take a look at some specific bouts if they're interesting enough, but I'm trying to finish Rio before I do super in-depth analysis of anything else.
I have no thoughts about Tokyo 2020, as the competitors won't even be determined for another two years plus. Any discussion this early would be pointless.
