I like the gradual increase so that it's not super ruffelley! I was looking for a ruffle pattern to do at the end of a poncho, thanks! The hat is really cute too!
Oh my I really love this mesh hat I’m making one right now it’s all one color I just want to say thank you so very much for sharing this tutorial I needed a summer hat 😊😊😊
This is a stunning hat design! The colour is beautiful on you. Thank you so much for this tutorial. My plan is to break out my hooks and buy some yarn and get busy making this hat design.

Yes I have. You can still use acrylic yarn, cotton, milk cotton, etc… Doubling the strands is optional. You can still use one strand, you will just have extra rounds for the base.
Ok, I am making this hat, and I'm using acrylic yarn. What I wanna know is, what are you doing for row 4?? I know I'm supposed to Increase when starting and then it's two DC in the same nest two stitches. But do I d 3 DC in the next stitch after?? I need to know if I'm doing this right or is it ny yarn 🧶
Hi sweet please could you let me know , Round 5 is it 2 chains then 3 Double crochet in each stitch all the way Round , then Round 6 is 2 Chains Then 4 Double crochet in each stitch Sorry I’m learning regards Sharmaine 😊
Round 5 is, 2 chains then an Increase which is equivalent to making 2 double crochet in the same stitch, then do 3 double crochet in separate stitches.
@@umphi_creates thank you for getting back to me , I’m on round 5 did 2 chains and 2 Double Crochet. In same stitch, then 2 Double Crochet in the next stitch ,Then 3 Stitches in the next but it is curling am I doing something wrong sorry to ask 🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷🌷
@@umphi_creates hi sweet round 4 I did 2 Double Crochet in one stitch, and 2 Double crochet in single stitches the same all around till next Row ,can you please tell how many stitches go in round 5 / 6 / 7 please not very good in the reading of Patterns yet Thankyou for your Help 🌸🌸🌸🌸
Follow the same as round 4 but now in round 5 you do 2 double crochet in one stitch, 3 double crochets in separate stitches, 2 double crochet in one stitch, 3 double crochets in separate stitches, etc til end of the round.
I tried this but I'm having issues after the 4inches measurement.....I really don't know how to increase to get to 7inch without my work showing ruffle
followed the directions but mine turned out too big - i think it's the tension or the hook size? mine has more holes and is less opaque than yours. I even started working on the mesh part after 6,5 inches diameter. It somehow still "flared out" to 8 inches after 2 rounds. what can I do to improve this?
Pls ma This is my first time and I got confused from the third role After the two double dc in one stitch should i still continue with the double dc in one stitch
Sorry, I’m just getting ready to start the ruffle hat can you explain round 3. I know you said the pattern is in the description. lol! Technology isn’t my friend and I don’t know how find the description. Thxs in advance.
Those are increasing rounds so that the circle/base can get bigger ans maintain the shape. So round 5 : 2 dc in one stitch, then 1dc in the next 3 stitches, then repeat til the end of the round. Round 6: 2dc in one stitch, then 1 dc in the next 4 stitches, then repeat til the end of the round… Round 7: 2dc in one stitch, then 1 dc in the next 5 stitches, then repeat til the end of the round.
I would advise that you add another one but depending on your head size, if you are able to calculate the diameter of your head from the circumference please do. Use a google calculator, measure your head circumference then use the calculator to convert it to diameter. If the measurements are close to 6inch then continue, if not then increase the round. Hope i make sense. But 6inch most times it becomes too tight on the head and we don’t want you to have unnecessary headaches
It’s going to be hard for me to understand what could have been the cause. What i would advise is for you to keep on going and see if it won’t stabilise.
I am 13 yrs and I understand this perfectly and I also like the color mixing both my mom loves it l planned to crochet this for my mom's birthday and I am on it

thanks so much for this tutorial! what is the width of the brim in measurements?
I think it was 2 or 3 inches. You can make the bring to cover more of the face and do more rounds. It just goes with preference.
@@umphi_creates cool, thanks so much
The easiest tutorial I ever came across. Thank you so much… Do you have a Facebook page where I can post my hat?
Thank you Tshidy. I’m only on Instagram and Tiktok as @umphi_creates
How do you know how wide to make the top of the head with circumference?
Hi thanks it is very nice will 1 big wool be enough if I double it
I can’t promise because I’m not sure how many grams it is.
❤❤ I love your work so much, pls I'm from Nigeria and I hardly see this type of thread, the one I see here is not thick
Thank you so much. Any yarn would honestly work, just double your strands.
i love so much🥰🥰
I made it it is beautiful.
Wow this fine ❤❤
Love 💕 this
Thank you
M so excited thank you very m on it right now
Have you tried this with a different type of yarn? If so, would you still double the strands?
Yes I have. You can still use acrylic yarn, cotton, milk cotton, etc…
Doubling the strands is optional. You can still use one strand, you will just have extra rounds for the base.
Tell me after the increase for the ruffle the one,two and three ,how many double Chrochet follow s and how many raws before closing the hat
Please rephrase, I’m not following
Great job😊
Thank You
Hey fam what's the meaning of "increase 3 DC"
An increase = 2 double crochets in one stitch
3 DC = 3 separate double crochets in stitches
Lovely❤
The last two rounds are just single dc ?
Yes they are
At round 5 ,after the increase and 3 dc should I continue same procedure till am done with round 5
You continue until you reach your desired base of the hat.
Can i still use baby wool in making this hat
Yes to can. As long as you can get the right measurements
@@umphi_creates okay thank you
I actually did mine but it wasn't straight like urs so I had to loose it and start over again because I thought the wool was the problem
Ok, I am making this hat, and I'm using acrylic yarn. What I wanna know is, what are you doing for row 4?? You increase( 2 dc in one stitch) then do 1 dc in each of the next 2 stitches.
My hat is curling doing round 6 and I'm increasing 4 and dc in the next two stitches. Please tell me what I'm doing worng.
You increase( 2 dc in one stitch) then do 1 dc in each of the next 4 stitches.

Please also check your count for every round.

Definitely something wrong you see doing. It won’t be easy to tell without seeing the work
Please what’s the size of pin you used ?
The info is provided somewhere in the beginning of the video
Awesome Awesome Awesome!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks 🤗
Pls ma
This is my first time and
I got confused from the third role
After the two double dc in one stitch should i still continue with the double dc in one stitch
2dc in one stitch, 1dc in the next, 2dc in one stitch, 1dc in the next, then repeat throughout
Ok thank you ma@@umphi_creates
Good job
Thanks
Beautiful I'm making it now
Have fun 🤩
@@umphi_creates Thank you so much picture coming soon
Hi please help me with the continuation is it 123
I enlarged it believe that after the second round of increases you just DC into every stitch. Doing mines this way, hope this helps.
I want to help but I’m not sure what you mean by 123
Can I use a 3.5mm for this tutorial
Oh definitely. It is perfect
You just need to make sure you have the correct diameter of the base when done
@@umphi_creates Kk tnks for that
Thank you so much but mine turned out to be big to wear, is it supposed to be big in size?
How big is your diameter of the circle?
@@umphi_creates 7 inches
Then make it 6.5, reduce one round.
@@umphi_creates okay, thank you so much 😊
What do you mean by increase 4dc
Please can I use thin yarn to make ruffle bucket hat
Yes you can though it will take you forever to finish. I wouldn’t recommend that you use double/triple strands of the thin yarn
i got lost at 4 . after u chain 2 and make sure there is 3 in that one whats next
row 4
I’m not following your question
Confused on the increase on Round 5. I’m a beginner and just got confused on round 5.
2dc in one stitch, then 1 dc in the next 3 stitches. Then repeat
Thank you. I really love the hat and this will be my first time making a ruffle hat. I’m so excited. Thanks for sharing your beautiful pattern.
Sorry, I’m just getting ready to start the ruffle hat can you explain round 3. I know you said the pattern is in the description. lol! Technology isn’t my friend and I don’t know how find the description. Thxs in advance.
Hi, how much yarn did you use overall?
For this project it’s hard to say because i had leftover yarn and i dont have a scale to check the grams. But I’d say about 200g.
Is it ok if my base circle isn’t flat as I start to add more rings to get to the 7 inches?
It should be flat
My own is curving,it not giving me dat circle shape why,pls I need help
Chances are you did not do a proper count on stitches on certain rounds
How can one know the diameter to work on, i mean how do you measure the head to know the diameter to makr
You can use a conversion on google from circumference to diameter.
Hey, by any chance increase what do you mean. After double crochet and then increase but I don’t understand the increase. Do you add three
Increase means crocheting 2 double crochet in one stitch.
I am using the same colour for my hat, and i have a lot of yarn left, can you suggest what i can make to match with the hat ?
A bucket hat matches with anything honestly. I normally prefer wearing one handmade item at a time
Do you have a Facebook page I love to show you my finished hat 😊
I’m only on Instagram
You can tag me there, @umphi_creates
I’m also on TikTok @umphi_creates
Please is it necessary to double the wool
Nope, not at all.
Ma, from round 5 to round 7 I don't understand how you did it.
Those are increasing rounds so that the circle/base can get bigger ans maintain the shape.
So round 5 : 2 dc in one stitch, then 1dc in the next 3 stitches, then repeat til the end of the round.
Round 6: 2dc in one stitch, then 1 dc in the next 4 stitches, then repeat til the end of the round…
Round 7: 2dc in one stitch, then 1 dc in the next 5 stitches, then repeat til the end of the round.
I have gotten it, thank you very much ma, God bless you
And also if I want to do it for a baby how will I measure it
How do you make the ruffle,it looks so hard
It is explained on the video, when you watch through it you will get to that step
What yarn is used for this crochet ?cuz mine is always coming out small
I used cotton and doubled the strands
Hi Umpi I did my 7 rows and have a diameter of 6 inches should I continue or add other rows to make 7 inches
Thanks luv
U double the yard for strength or what please
I doubled the yarn so that i can finish the hat quicker and have less rounds to work.
Round 4 is so confusing to me. Can someone explain the pattern please
2 dc in one stitch, the 1dc in the next 2 stitches. Then repeat
Hi umphi
My hat keeps getting folded at roll 3
I'm so confused
It’s going to be hard for me to understand what could have been the cause. What i would advise is for you to keep on going and see if it won’t stabilise.
Thank you
I've figured it out
But please for the third roll ruffle,is it same thing with the second roll
No increase?
Mine is folding at roll 7 😢
