we don't have bears out here in the Arizona desert but we do have wild cats and people's dogs who like to come out onto the road and threaten you, so I bought myself some bear spray after my pepper spray wasn't too effective.

I would never want to have to end the life of such a great animal, but I also don’t want my life ended as well.... Spray doesn’t work all the time... You need a back up plan in a worst case event.... I am hoping for a better less than lethal option to come along, like maybe a taser that is amped up enough to stop a bear and give you time to get away
True and that would be a horrendous way to die..I listened to the audio of the grizzly man being killed and it is still the worst audio I have ever heard...and I have seen FACES OF DEATH ☠️ was gruesome at best

Treadwell spent many years pushing his luck with the bears, and they tolerated him, until the day they didn’t.... I have seen Grizzly Bears, and it is just astonishing how big they are and how fast they actually are.... You cannot fathom it until you see it at a close enough distance to hear them breathe.... it will really open your eyes to see what they are capable of doing.... To see something that big move so powerful and fast is almost surreal... I will never push my luck with nature after having certain experiences that let me know exactly where I fall on the food chain in certain environments...

Bear spray may or may not be effective. Wind, rain, and the bear's desire all play a part. If you choose to go into bear country, a suitable firearm is all that will truly save you from a determined or delusional bear. You decide what you want to do, but don't say you didn't know. I see bear spray as a distraction, it gives me a few seconds to steady my aim.

Ive worked in Alaska with bears for years and I can’t tell you how many stories I’ve heard from hunters/hikers/homesteaders where shooting the bear didn’t stop the attack. I’ve responded to maulings in similar scenarios too. Nothing is 100% effective but that age-old “firearms are the best” attitude is pure nonsense. Spray and firearms have comparable efficacy. Bottom line, they’re both great tools, so use whatever you’re comfortable with. But if a bear wants you/has enough adrenaline…then there’s not much you can do.
A large caliber round through the eye socket and the Brain seems to be the best method of bear repellent. And above all do not waste. A nice rug to warm your footies in the winter time would be great.
Hank Patterson's advice is better. Once that bear gets right on you, drop to a knee and punch him in the choads. Or steal a mama bears cub. I've yet to put these to the test, but they sound like solid advice.

If your going to be in bear territory (and why should you) then carry a sawed off 12 guage pump with Brenneke slugs. It'll stop a train.
Cause I don't know what's scarier a possible bear attack or the time you will spend in prison for brandishing an illegal sawed off 😳🙄🤣
