Another wonderful video, Haseeb! Thank you. I find the simple octocoupler to be intriguing... What fun things might be made with it? Of particular interest is how it might be used to make an electronic potentiometer that would not be subject to the typical scratching noises of a dirty mechanical potentiometer... But, to do this, the octocoupler might need to be deconstructed into its separate parts... Why?, Because, if you just use a mechanical pot to control the octocoupler LED, whatever glitches that are in the mechanical pot output are going to be passed to the octocoupler... Create a box with two chambers. Cut a hole, in the dividing wall. Install a mechanical sliding gate over the hole. Configure a common transistor with a Light Dependent Resistor on its base. Place it in one side of the box. Configure a common LED with a current limiting resistor. Place it in the other side of the box. Use the mechanical sliding gate as the control. I am just thinking out loud, here... IIRC, there might be something called a "light gate?"

Good day to you, I totally enjoy all your Smps videos. I am working on my microwave, power board ,and it keeps damaging 2 diodes, after the mini transformer on the board. The resistors and caps on the board read good the only thing left was the otocuplar and the relay.I will keep watching some of your other videos, to see if I missed anything. The micro switches check out. But I was leaning towards the transformer on the otocuplar. Can you point me in the right direction. Will send a picture of the board later if needed. Thanks for all your time in making these videos and I will be doing some more research

What is the purpose of a single loop copper wire outside a transformer core in smps? Sometimes a single loop copper wire is connected to gnd.

The battery cell without any resistance is around 1.35V and giving about 70mA. The resistance across pin 3 and 4 is above 5K ohm. Is the optocoupler TLP560g good or bad?

Do i need to desolder the optocoupler(EL817) from the board to test it, since i am having strange voltage in forward as well as reverse bias? Thanks

Am Using two multimeters for testing, with multimeter A in diode mode Voltage across pin l and 2 , is 1.616V , but with MULTIMETER B in Resistance mode with probes across pins 4 & 3 , its shows no reading. This his mean the optocoupler is working or dead

I want a method to test optocoupler on circuit without removing from it. Do you know how ? some types
like HCPL-7860 how to test it on circuit ? some inverters and servo drivers have some of these optocouplers.
But pc817 is easy and simple one to set.

If the resistance is 4kOhm between pin nr 3 and 4 when we connect correctly in pin 1 and 2 in diode mode a second multimeter this value at 4kOhm is acceptable? Just as value is acceptable?
