Thank you for your explanation of everything you do from training to foot issues. I’ve learned so much from your videos. I wish you were closer to where I live.
@@cappelhorsetrainingandshoeing generally I’d agree. However this week we’re suffering through a cold front with highs in the 30’s and 40’s and lows in the 20’s. One good thing in Mississippi is the weather never stays the same for very long.
We lost our 20 year old Friesian/Thoroughbred who was born at ours, in April to an abcess. It turned out it was up at the top of his leg where the vet couldn't drain it, or couldn't even feel heat initially and she gave him antibiotics and painkillers to start with but a couple of days later he went down again and couldnt get up and by then there was heat and it was too far up to drain so he was euthanised. We were heartbroken as our late mother had rescued both his mother and a shetland mare, both of whom had done nothing but repeatedly give birth all their lives and who both had feet problems as a result, he was born and the Shetland had her foal Mini (they were both black, like little and large thus her name) and the mothers both had their last foals with them until they eventually passed, but our own mum passed shortly after she rescued the mares and the foals were born so it was heartbreaking to lose him. Of course we still have Mini and she will have new horses to boss around next week as we rescued two youngsters and a polo pony who had an injury forced his early retirement. So I'm off back home to help as I have more experience of handling multiple youngsters. Hopefully we will make a decent follow on pony for my grand daughter as she's outgrown Mini although she still thinks of her as her own pony. I will be watching all your videos because despite having had 60 plus years experience, I can always learn stuff and, I would dearly love to bring these youngsters on to use bosals and did manage to get hold of a decent one as theyre few and far between in the UK. I need to get her a Western saddle too when the time comes but will have my work cut out doing the fundamentals and making sure they know who the leader is in the meantime so theyre safe to handle. I really hope your horse is ok and wouldn't mind an update when you have time.

My Morgan mare developed one of these.
