    The big take away for me is that the stock pickups on display here are really quite nice lol.

      I have the same bass, other colour and I can confirm that the pickups kick ass. I Was planning to replace them but after a handful of live shows , many rehearsals and practice hours , I still dig them . Not too noissy neither.

    A much tamer high end and richer mids and lows on the Nordstrands compared to stock. Personally i like that, but some may prefer the snap of the stocks.
    Good demo on these pickups.

      Totally agree and thank you! I was completely sold on how the Nordstrands sounded!

      @@sonojon0 Do you prefer 60's or 70's wound Nordsrands for a more aggressive sound?

      70s wound for aggressive sound. I really love that growl and bite@@marg0049

    Nordstrands have a very nice low mid thump, but also top end presence! Great demo!

    Great Demo-thanks. This is helpful for my search to upgrade my stock 1998 American Standard. What year is the bass and what are the stock pickups? So far I like Nordstrands as one of my top picks. Lindy Fralin and Lollars are nice too. Also considering the Fender pure vintage 74.

      The year of the squier is 2022 and I believe the stock pickups are Squier branded pickups in alnico 5

      @@sonojon0 Squires have come a long way-stock pickups actually sounded good. My first bass was a 1989 Squire Jazz and it was not a good playing or sounding bass in comparison to my Am. Std.

    Did you use the stock pots and caps?

    • @sonojon0
      @sonojon0  8 месяцев назад

      Yes. All original pots and caps to keep things consistent

    NJ4 70 flatwounds 0:58
    NJ4 60 flatwounds ruclips.net/video/C2VbZIF7ggU/видео.html
    With flatwounds is better the 70 model because the 60 is too muddy.
    And I prefer the stock pickups to NJ because they sound clearer.
