    Curious how your experience was at Bandon Dunes? What did you pay and green speed etc…drop a comment

    I’m making my 3rd trip back to Bandon this summer, just booked flights and I’m stoked. I respect your opinion, once you said you’re a country club guy I knew you were even before I clicked the video. Any country club guy I know that has been doesn’t like it 😂 it’s definitely not for everyone but to me it is a magical place! My favorite place on earth and I’ve played a ton of courses.
    1. Both times I have been the staff has been incredibly wonderful. Shoe is the man, and will make your day.
    2. Architecture, you cannot expect a course to look the way it does from an aerial view from a drone. I think that’s a big problem with golf content these days, people expect to see it that way but it’s just not reality. If you can’t tell the difference from old max compared to the others I don’t know what to tell ya.. completely different. Hoping you looked in to the design history of old Mac.
    3. $450 dollars??? We are going in peak season and we are paying $350 this year. The real value is playing multiple rounds in a day, your second round is half price and your 3rd is free. I did the solstice and was handed a hundred dollar bill after to playing our 4th round of the day.
    4. Greens are slow because of the wind they can’t keep seed down but I do agree with you on this one. I’ve been two different times of year and it changes. Trails is always pretty quick.
    5. Pace is a problem everywhere, I have never experienced bad pace at Bandon maybe during one round when I played. In fact I’ve played Bandon in 1 hour and 50 minutes.
    Now this is the first video I’ve watched of yours but to each their own. Hard to compare a dye French lick or sawgrass to any course at Bandon. They are very different. Bandon was not created for the tour, it represents a lot more than competition golf.

    I just played them in april. They put gps trackers on one of the players bag in every foursome to ensure they kept up. All of our rounds were in the 4-4.5 hr range. The restaurants are awesome. The rooms are really nice. Go in the fall the weather is way calmer. Going back in October. Sheep ranch is the course for you if you want ocean views.

    I see your getting a lot of hate here, but I think your perspective is worth the watch. I go to Scotland once a year and believe it or not you can do it on a budget. Flying into Edinburgh is easy and getting out to the st Andrews area is a breeze. There are so many reasonable ocean side courses there that are spectacular and well under $75 American. Lundin Links, Kilspindie, etc… From the video footage you’ve shown Bandon doesn’t look all that great condition wise…. One of my favorites is Kittocks St Andrews. $90 and it is incredible… Kiwah island is a lot cheaper as well and is also awesome…

  • @AG-kz7sm
    @AG-kz7sm 10 месяцев назад +1

    Fair perspective. Overall, I do believe it’s great value in the fall period. Slightly lower fees weather awesome weather. I play in Monterey, CA, and the cost there is significantly higher.
    The one item that does resonate with me is speed of greens. I’m use to 11-12, so 7 feels like snails pace.

    I respect your opinions and observations (though I disagree), but on the cost question, it seems like you chose to go foe the absolute most expensive option as a non-resort guest, in peak season, booking more than 3 weeks out (which triggers a premium). You also don't mention that your second round in a day, even at that max peak day guest premium rate, would be 200. As a resort guest the peak price is 330 (165 for second round). I go every year in December, and coming from Portland I obviously don't have airfare. And my price is 110 for a round, and even in December I can fit in 36 holes and get a replay rate of 55. And my room is like $140 a night. So my 2 night 4 round trip before caddy fees and food/drink comes to around $700, which is a steal. I don't disagree entirely that in peak season it might be more than it's worth. But people still flock and pay it anyway (as evidenced by the resort booking out now I to early 2025). I think the golf is great, and the staff are all very friendly, even if the resort isn't the most lush.

    • @Scaramuzzagolf
      @Scaramuzzagolf  11 месяцев назад

      Yes my second round was $200 for a replay which I still think is over priced. I was on a coast to coast Rv trip so I wasnt staying at the resort.
      I actually almost left the money out of the equation when I was doing this video. However, that’s what I paid and I feel they put a target on their back at that price. Wish I felt differently

      @@Scaramuzzagolf You're welcome. Despite being a Bandon fan, and I'll admit I went into your video sort of "primed" to disagree strongly. But I do appreciate criticism of the resort, because at the end of the day the huge majority of the Bandon content out there is breathy, hyperbolic praise of Bandon as this "mecca." It's good to have perspectives out there that highlight some of the weak points of the resort, I certainly agree with the points about the greens and pace of play (in part because I very much imagine that pace of play is worse in the summer, when I play in December I think you get more of the "hard core" golfers who are a bit more motivated to keep a decent pace).

    We play Bandon yearly, usually in January. Current Dec.-Jan. green fee is $110. Weather can be quite good, but greater chance of rain in winter. I find Old Mac and Sheep Ranch fescue greens a bit bumpy. Bandon Dunes and Pac. Dunes are fast and smooth enough. Who really thinks any course is worth a $450 green fee....and didn't you know the price when you made the reservation? On the other hand, as golfers, we might just say "what the hey" and pay it anyhow.

      Mainly west coast golfers. Temperatures are pretty moderate on the coast during the winter, but again, a better chance of rain. Worth the risk if not traveling from distant points. We have a package that costs $1300 that includes 4 nights lodging, 5 rounds, 3 dinners, and 4 breakfasts. A long drive for some, but well worth it I think.@@Scaramuzzagolf
