Love your videos. Could you please do one on the typical heros landing where the ground cracks up? I can't seem to find anything like that for davinci resolve. Thanks
Great question. So the face refinement tool requires the studio version. However tracking the eyeballs with the power windows like I show around the half way point is free and you can achieve essentially the same result using this technique.
So the second half of the video is basically a way you could do this in the free version. Basically tracking and qualifying the eyes then you're free to make adjustments and keyframe to your liking. You could also get into fusion, but that's not really covered in this video.
@@kimlannear1220 Great question. Sorry I wasn't clear so starting at 4:37 is what I was talking about, so manually tracking the eyes then making adjustments to the keyed areas. Under certain lighting conditions you may need to track each eye individually. You can also add keyframes to the adjustments you make in the power windows to get the same kind of "charging up" effect. The face refinement tool is great to make it easy if you have the studio version, but not necessary to make this effect. I hope that helps clear it up.
i wish this effect was free, i skipped the face recognition step and it looks pretty bad... but what can u expect for not spending 300 bucks. got the job done, great video. nothing against you lol it is really easy to do and u explain everything well. but i just added a mask and color and was hoping for better results. again not your fault and i wouldn't have gotten any results if it werent for you! so for that THANK YOU :)
Nathan, you did something I've been trying to figure out. How to key and color WHITE. Like if I want to add a tint to some headlights or a tint to a blown out sky. Can you elaborate? Anyways, thanks.
Awesome yeah for sure. For your qualifier you wanna drop the Hue, so just click the little orange circle, then bring your saturation way down and in the case of a blown out sky or a headlight there's a good chance it's gonna be one of the brightest parts of the image so bring your low end of the luminance up until you just have your desired area keyed. If you're still getting unwanted areas then you may need to get creative with some power windows and possibly the tracker. After you get a solid key, then it's just about introducing colour which I go over in decent detail in this video ruclips.net/video/DmcV4TI0JVQ/видео.html Also with blown out sky I find if you bring the gain down a bit then try a colour adjustment it usually works out a bit nicer. Hope that helps.
In the video I show you a workaround for the free version. Instead of using the face refinement tool, you track the eyes, qualify them, and make the adjustment the same way.
Correction: "Automagically" was not made up by DaVinci; it's actually a real word in the oxford dictionary! au·to·mag·ic·al·ly /ˌôdəˈmajək(ə)lē/ adverb informal - (especially in relation to the operation of a computer process) automatically and in a way that seems ingenious, inexplicable, or magical. "just type in the name of what you want to listen to, and it automagically appears on your computer"
@@NathanCarterVids Funny story: I actually wrote a different comment saying: ["Automagically"... never heard that one before - big like!!] but before I pressed "Reply" I thought "maybe I should Google it first cause if it's a common word I'll sound dumb :))) that's when I saw it was actually a word and changed my comment :-))
Thanks. I don't let it bother me, ultimately it's not for everyone. For it being as easy as it is, I figured some beginners would get a kick out of it and maybe give them incentive to learn more, which is why I always provide reference material in the description. I appreciate the kind words

@@orangerecords_studio thanks. Also you guys are tough. I was just in Svalbard in early March on a hike with a group of Norwegians. My fiance and I could barely keep up haha.
Thanks for the support everyone. Hope you like this effect. As always more info in the description

So cool, man, thanks!!
Hi, great tutorial, but I have a question, do you need the paid version od Davinci for this effect or not? Thanks for answer, good luck in the future!

@@NathanCarterVids hoo it's available in studio version ok thanks...
makes me think of the goa'uld from Stargate
Can we achieve the same effect using the pen tool for tracking

I'm not sure I fully understand the request. But this video I did I think covers something similar: ruclips.net/video/tYRgjgIbVhA/видео.html

Yes I recommend trying out the method I go over in this video, and instead of using red use black: ruclips.net/video/G5P9fEQ9Ncs/видео.html
