I'm nowhere near performing this skill but I watched this anyway because your form is just immaculate and therefore it's a pleasure to watch.

My daughter asked me who my hero is. I'm not gonna lie. You are my hero Simon. So I told her that. We still need heros, even as adults. Thanks for being so awesome Simon.

Absolutely. For you average bystander the planche is just a weird push up hold or something.

Simon! Would you share your experience regarding the following, please? I couldnt train for 3 weeks due to injury in my right palm/wrist. I was able to do almost 5 freestanding HSPU, after the mentioned 3 weeks i could do barely 1. It this normal to lose such strength in such a short time? I would really love to hear your thoughts on this.

Hey Sim or Simonster, is your beginner program be a good fit for me if i am overweight. Belly fat, BMI about 35, yes fat. And most importantly, i am going into my 40, currently 39 now.
Interested in buying your Beginner Project Calisthenics.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Best I can do is the dead part. Since I'm 48 yo I think it's still something. I will probably be dead for real before I can do the whole move🙂

is this tougher than planche? which one should I try to learn first ?

My issue is not knowing which muscles to strengthen first. There's no way i can just start doing these obviously (not as simple as doing the first pullup), so what beginner movements would you recommend?

Dips, push-ups, pike push-ups, tuck planche. For a program, check out my beginner HSPU or bodyweight basics programs at www.baseblocksplus.com

Do you think you can gain muscle mass with just calisthenics and pallettes?

      Easy

Your body doesn't know how the stress is being applied on it. Replicate similar overload and you'll get the similar results.

Without a doubt, you can gain muscle with calisthenics. However, there are reasons why bodybuilders predominantly train with weights rather than their bodyweight (easier to scale, isolate muscles, target specific movements and ranges of motion, etc). For an in depth discussion of this topic, see my video titled "The problems with calisthenics"
