My worst cake delivery was a wedding in a barn. I wasn't able to park near the door. The walk was about a block, not solid ground, with a assembled three-tier cake.
I didn't have help. So I was having to ask for help. Also the bride was my step daughter from a previous marriage, her aunt from her mother's side, decided she too had to make the cake. Which I will be nice and leave the description of the cake as what you would expect an ammature box mix cake that's decorations include can frosting, sparkling Garland store bought decorations not meant for cakes.
So my 3 tiered buttercream piped roses and boarders sure sent the tension through the roof.
I only stuck around because the bride and groom wanted me to and I was also the only one able to take the left over cake back home for them. Which turned out was not needed. As the 40 guests literally ate the whole cake.

Hello, Im a new subscriber. Would you consider doing videos on storing/ freezing cakes, how long in advance do you make cakes and icing. Break down the steps from the order is made to the delivery? Is there a way you can take donations thru utube if someone finds value in your teaching they can give a donation? Or do u have an instruction sheet we can purchase (ebook)? Thank you.

Great video! When we get to the venue do we just walk in with the cake or do we have to talk to someone first? Also who can we talk too to tell them how to cut the cake? Hope my questions make sense!

Hi! Unless I’m in frequent coordination with the wedding planner or I’ve visited a venue too many times to count, I will get off and go find the venue coordinator or point of contact. Mainly I like to have an idea of how far I am going to be walking with the cake so I ask them to show me the cake table. I always walk to the cake table to make sure it’s setup and sturdy. Then I go back for the cake!
Most venues or the catering team should have a banquet captain! They are very experienced in cutting cake. The things that I make them aware of are: straws or dowels in the cake, inedible decor (like fresh floral), etc.
      Hope this helps! :)

I never travel with stacked cakes. They are stacked at the venue everytime. Even if im decorating only with buttercream. And i wont deliver where i cant back into or front door service. I will not walk a block, go up stairs. Otherwise the cake will need to be picked up. I had a 4 tiered wedding cake full of handmade gunpaste flowers.... my suv was perfect for transport. It was covered and protected. It was a 1300 cake... 500 deposit. The cake flipped upside down because a large truck was mad that i was driving slow and raking turns slow. I hate a sign on my car and was motioning him to pass. He went around me and slammed in his breaks... i was 1 inch from hitting him. Cake gone. Wedding started in 3 hours. I rough extra flowers and buttercream but there was too much damage. I saved the cake part... restacked at venue..while the wedding was going on. They venues put a black curtain around me so that i could finish without guest seeing it. It was not evem close to what they wanted. It had very little flowers. But i used real ones feom the venue and put wedding decorations i seen around in place of the browen flowers. The bride was very thrilled with the cake and didmt complain. But i did tell her what happened and that they will get the 500 deposit back. She refused and states the cake was even better than what she wanted. I cried the entire time i was there...i was also hited to cut and serve. That was the last time i traveld with a staked cake. Also...i found the person that slammed on his breaks. In a parking lot 3 weeks later. Found out hes the husband of my son teacher. I had a word with him and showed the vidoe that caught it...the book store had the scene of surveillance. He was not happy i confronted him and talked to his wife. He had well over 5 speeding tickets and lost his licenses so he was resported and now cant drive legally for 5 years.
