I actually had a heads up as a kid on the whole thing with Brentilda; as the Nintendo Power preview tape told you to write down everything she tells you, as "you'll need this information as you progress through Gruntilda's lair"
13:22 - I actually liked this. Felt rewarding, because I always talk to her sister whenever I found her, listening to her wacky stories, so I never had an issue with this. I easily remember them, no need to write then down, because the stories are so damn dumb.
The stories were randomized though so for instance in one playthrough her favorite food was different than in another. It's not too punishing if you fail one of these but it's especially frustrating if you can't progress because you haven't talked to all the sisters locations or simply forgot
"If I could just skip these" Uh, that's what the joker spaces are for, Ant. Those give you two jokers to let you skip any tile on the board with a press of a button
11:53 - And that's one of the things I love about it. Banjo-Tooie's constant backtracking drove me insane. Kazooie, on the other hand, feels perfectly designed, meant to be enjoyed fast.

Hey AntDude, quick correction for you. The facts about Grunty that Brentilda gives you for the Quiz Show aren't random, they are different depending on the save slot you are using. So it is the same selection of three answers every time, and which one ends up being the correct answer depends on which save file it is tied to.

One note on the Banjo Kazooie level design that I just noticed playing back through on the switch is how genius it is that the notes respawn. It causes the levels not to feel empty on playback, but the best thing lies in what Ant Dude pointed out... It gives dying an appropriate weight. If you die, you lose your note count. That makes it so that you don't want to just make silly mistakes and take damage. The game pushes this further by not respawning enemies. This is important because almost every level has hazards. Sharks, piranhas, freezing water or hot sand, something that will give you damage if you make any mistakes. This means that if you just go and kill all of the enemies then you actually put yourself in a position to not be able to make any mistakes... Unless you die and then you have to start over on getting notes. Lol It incentivizes you to get everything quickly and on the first run especially when there are puzzles that will take your health on the first miss. It's an ingenious design that I didn't notice the first time around.

Am I the only one who loves the game show portion of this game? We see in the prologue that Gruntilda is waiting in the transformation machine and for the whole game I was expecting to bust into the room and stop the transformation from happening or her intercepting me beforehand and initiating a boss fight. The very last thing I expected was for her to create a legit game show with Tootie as a price. Also I love all tasks excluding the Gruntilda trivia. The sound and visual questions really feel like a proper test if you paid attention and reward those who explored the worlds thoroughly. And the battle games are the closest this game offers to a boss rush. Usually failing a task is not as critical if you collected enough extra honeycomb pieces during your journey. However there's also a lot at stake on the skull space, making these tasks extra tense. Not to mention Banjo really is relentless. Gruntilda willingly handed over Tootie and fled out of fear. And yet afterwards Banjo and Kazooie return to her lair with the sole intention of killing her. If the game show replaced the final boss of this game, I'd dislike it just as much, but considering that it has an awesome "post-game" final boss I absolutely dig the concept and execution.

Gruntilda’s game board part was one of my favorite parts of the game. I always talked to her sister throughout my play-through and the Grunty facts always stuck in my head for some reason.
When you make that Kirby lore video, please collaborate with both WollieVersus and Meteroz. They’re both experts on Kirby lore and would help strengthen both the video and my respect for you.
I like the challenge the N64 gave with the notes not being permanent. Whenever I go back to play this game, my rule is to collect Jiggies first, and hunt down all of the notes last. Also, especially for Rusty Bucket Bay, you collect the most dangerous ones first. If you die, at least you weren't only one away from 100.
I also recently got my hands on Grunty's Revenge! It's kinda easy so far, but it's a lot of fun! Just pull ip the level maps so I can find my way around, and we're good to go! I'm pretty sure this was made before Banjo Tooie? Or maybe they were in development at the same time? One of them pulled from elements of the other, that's for sure. I love the 2-d Grunty and Klungo fights, it's so nastalgic to the era that I largely missed out on due to it being mostly before my time.
The Banjo-Kazooie experience can best be described as like having a three-course meal at a restaurant. The first three levels are the starter. A tasty appetizer that only gets you excited for the rest. The next three levels are the main course. That's where you get the real meat and potatoes, fulfilling and satisfying. The last three levels are the pudding. By now you're quite full and a little tired, but you can still manage another nice offering. . . ........and the final boss battle is the bill that comes afterwards.
*AntDude PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE play Kameo: Elements of Power!* This game is a launch xbox 360 title game made by Rare dating back it's development history in the early 2000's until finally being released on the Xbox 360 in 2005 to high praise by critics. Also I'm going to do a *non -spoiler detail about why this game is so underrated and needs more attention:* This game is tragically underrated due to a long development history and Microsoft making them change the game when it was nearly complete for the original XBOX (some people were super lucky to find the debug version on an XBOX console and put it together in a playable ISO that needs a softmodded XBOX (original) to play) Starting life as a Nintendo GameCube, before being made for the XBOX after the Microsoft buy-out before finally being released on the Xbox 360 (although there are rumours that there was concept for Kameo originally being on Nintendo 64 with some screenshots of early gameplay footage to support this) Not to mention, there is a lot of hidden/lost lore in this game that almost no one knows about. Because of the rushed development, Rare used an official manga, 8 episode podcast, an official website and the Prima Guide to help fill in the details that they couldn't put into the game due to all the rushing and changes. Essentially, Kameo was changed so much because Microsoft wanted to appeal to Call Of Duty gamers, instead of letting the game be itself, and having an appeal to The Legend Of Zelda gamers. Originally in the N64-GameCube phase, you would catch up to 60 Elemental Creatures as babies, train as them to grow into their adult/warrior forms (taking a nod from Pokemon) with Kameo (also called Ariel, then Kai)controlling them, as well as being able to have them fight beside her in combat. Eventually it changed to 12 Elemental warriors with the art and story changed to become more mature (despite Kameo still being a 15 year old Elf now, yes they changed her to an elf, despite having her fairy wings still) with the story having a focus on responsibility and priority. The characters had so much charm and charisma that Rare is well known for, as well as Kameo having a purple dragon sidekick (Meepo) who played a crucial role in capturing the elemental babies, while Kalus had her own dragon companion Kreepo and the two shared an intense rivalry. Meepo was designed as comedic relief to bicker and interact with Ortho but despite this, the story had darker hints to itself as well (some carrying over to the modern 360 Kameo) and a plot involving Farron. With the XBOX version nearly complete, came the announcement of the Xbox 360 and wanting a launch game that could potentially be the Xbox's mascot, Microsoft made Rare change the game again for the 360 while making some aspects more mature to appeal to COD players. While the game was received with excellent reviews from critics, it's sales wasn't enough to convince Microsoft to go ahead with their big plans for Kameo, which included a full feature film on the big screen and canceled Kameo 2 in order to make Rare work on Kinect games. Over the years there have been petition after petition to get Kameo 2 made, however with the recent uncovering of the hidden/lost Kameo lore (because the game barely skims over it) a reboot would be the best case, with the lost lore included. Personally, the XBOX version is my favourite and I wish they had stuck with this and just transferred it to the 360 without all the changes and dropped plots, while keeping in the scrapped characters. Also there is a Kameo discord server, so if anyone is interested in seeing this lore, we have it all on there and it will be available for people to join on the *31st of July:* discord.gg/d8epMyM

Kinda funny how she coughs and farts eggs
Both of her holes have eggs coming out
That can't be healthy

Questionable day attire

Banjo-Kazooie, what a fucking game

why does this not have any replies yet? other than the one i’m writing
"Gruntilda couldn't stand his pot calling her ugly"
Pretty much the resume of the game
Only 90s kid remembered Media Error at 7:36
SuperMaster64 only July 24th kids remember it
its a joke
Gruntilda’s game board part was one of my favorite parts of the game. I always talked to her sister throughout my play-through and the Grunty facts always stuck in my head for some reason.
Why was the video removed at first?
TheElectricCav I thought that was originally a joke

When you make that Kirby lore video, please collaborate with both WollieVersus and Meteroz. They’re both experts on Kirby lore and would help strengthen both the video and my respect for you.
M E M E R I O Agree, especially Meteorz
I'm sure hes just dying for your respect
15:17 Dear AntDude, I never noticed that melon joke. I now hate you for telling me this.
But you’re gonna forgive him anyway
The Banjo-Kazooie experience can best be described as like having a three-course meal at a restaurant.
The first three levels are the starter. A tasty appetizer that only gets you excited for the rest.
The next three levels are the main course. That's where you get the real meat and potatoes, fulfilling and satisfying.
The last three levels are the pudding. By now you're quite full and a little tired, but you can still manage another nice offering.

........and the final boss battle is the bill that comes afterwards.
A Re-upload I SEE?!?

That was RARE
A masterpiece approaching.

*AntDude PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE play Kameo: Elements of Power!*
This game is a launch xbox 360 title game made by Rare dating back it's development history in the early 2000's until finally being released on the Xbox 360 in 2005 to high praise by critics.
Also I'm going to do a *non -spoiler detail about why this game is so underrated and needs more attention:*
This game is tragically underrated due to a long development history and Microsoft making them change the game when it was nearly complete for the original XBOX (some people were super lucky to find the debug version on an XBOX console and put it together in a playable ISO that needs a softmodded XBOX (original) to play) Starting life as a Nintendo GameCube, before being made for the XBOX after the Microsoft buy-out before finally being released on the Xbox 360 (although there are rumours that there was concept for Kameo originally being on Nintendo 64 with some screenshots of early gameplay footage to support this)
Not to mention, there is a lot of hidden/lost lore in this game that almost no one knows about.
Also there is a Kameo discord server, so if anyone is interested in seeing this lore, we have it all on there and it will be available for people to join on the *31st of July:*

I can confirm what Crafty says. Kameo really is a hidden gem.

My favorite rare/Xbox/Microsoft character is Pipsy The Yellow Mouse, She’s from Mouseland, along with her boyfriend Pipdy The Green Mouse.
Gonna watch the entire thing again ;D

*Do iT AgAiN!*
You go back, Jack, do it again
TBH the Xbox live arcade version of banjo is the best way to play it with the ability to keep notes on death and the widescreen support
My friends when I play banjo kazooie on Xbox : EW stop playing trash games
Me: *you only play 5 games*
Fifa, Fortnite, COD, Minecraft and.. something.. As a kid I used to play EVERY damn thing that was good. Like Banjo-Kazooie!
That Mario joke was sooooo worth the reupload dude that was actually hilarious
11:13 uh the Stars have magic and ya need just about that much magic now go fight the turtle
Oh, I see why you reuploaded. There was an error screen where footage from _Super Mario 64_ should have been in yesterday’s upload.
Like I said yesterday, should we let Somecallmejohnny tackle Rare’s games in a Rare-athon?
"Good old Spiral Mountain, my friend.
Mountains can't be friends."
I've already seen video about bird and bear.
But seeing it again? I suppose that's fair.
I just finished watching your Banjo series and loved how you did each of the videos. I'm a huge banjo fan myself and am currently recreating Spiral Mountain in real life as a racetrack. I think you'll love it.
Big balls to reupload a perfectly good video for a small seconds-long error. Lesser RUclipsrs would’ve let it slide for the views.
Man I love this channel ant, your videos are a true comfort zone for me and your wit & humor have gotten me through tough times man, thank you for all that you've done!!!
Can't wait to get to see what you think of the better N64 Banjo Game in the Next Video!
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one who thinks that.
@@taylord5381 I personally much prefer Tooie. The Levels feel more grand and creative to me, theres more moves that are mostly awesome additions, the world feels actually interconnected, the quiz at the end is better. It's a really good sequel game imo.
Big Head Mountain, that sounds like a name of a level, Welcome to Big Head Mountain where people with over inflated egos live. XD
I'm lowkey upset because I'm working a thumbnail for my Banjo--Kazooie livestreams and it is too similar to this thumbnail. Oh well Great Video
@Isaak van Dijk, MD Is it really necesary to write this comment
If the third game ever comes out i hope they include the ability to switch between regular voice acting and the gibberish from the first 2 games like in lego star wars the skywalker saga.
I can't beleave some people think point A To B games are the future of 3d platformers.
Unnecessary comma and apostrophe
@@jbfarley no!!! It wasn't i was taking a digital breath.
Nice video Antdude :) i love Banjo kazooie! i also buyed Xbox one only to play " Rare Replay" i will never regret it :D
I know youve already hear this like a million times but i would really want Rare Replay ported to the Switch
Damn, I love the Furnace Fun. I HARD disagree with it being bad. I play through this game every other year or so, and just spend the 15 minutes talking to Brunty one time at each place before I play and try to remember roughly. This is pretty wild to me.
Furnace Fun is fantastic. Ant Dude has a bad take here.
Who else here thinks Nuts and bolts wasn't that bad ?😁
11:21 to 11:32 "...They also do a little bit of a dance every time they get one and it's consistently the greatest thing ever" [Banjo Dances "It's beautiful! 10/10 game right here!" - AntDude
Every Banjo-Kazooie speedrunner ever: "We hate it! Let's skip it! [Banjo Dances] Damn it! There goes 4-8 precious seconds!"
Did you seriously skip the Game Over screen?!
It’s one of the best in gaming!!
My favorite game of all time, right here. I love the fun music, exploring these compact levels and just finding things to do and collect, and of course the characters. It's a bit of a timesink 'cause you have to dedicate yourself to a level once you start it, but it's worth it!
Okay, talk about Déjà Vu because I feel like I’ve already seen this.
MrChillaxin2010 it was originally uploaded yesterday, but at 7:37 there was a red screen error message instead of Mario 64 gameplay.
@@YeetZmeN it's a joke you dumb dumb
@@cumekira70 It was a half joke. I think I did see the thumbnail for this yesterday but never got around to click on it.
@@MrChillaxin2010 huh, cool I guess
@@cumekira70 Yep. Enjoy your pancakes, Mr. detective.
I love the new thumbnails!
My favorite characters of all time bought so many great memories & the music 🎼 was awesome 🧸 🎒 🐥 🧩 🎵 🍯 Guh Huh‼️ We need a new Banjo adventure for the Nintendo Switch but im so glad to see them coming in Super Smash Bros.
You know something? There is a Mario Pinball Ball Next to the Kirby little Toy.
*I HAD THE EXACT SAME THING AS A KID*
No worries my dude, I've never owned an Xbox either
I actually never even owned a video game console, does that make a difference?
I gotta say the furnace fun game was a NIGHTMARE for me? you know why? because I DID NOT SPEAK ENGLISH because Im Brazilian, you have any idea how hard was to pass this part trying to memorize all the question and answers with try and error and retry and retry? I must have died a thousand times, not even kidding, so after passing this part, the last boss for me was really challenging as a kid, and the ending when winning gruntilda, gave me an unforgettable memory from how hard it was to achieve, one of my fav games EVER!!
I guess you could say this was a Rare Reupload 😉
Still Rare's best, for my money... possibly my first N64 game and one of my favorites of all time. RIP.
I don't understand everyone's issue with the Grunty spaces
The facts aren't that hard to remember
My only issue is I've replayed this game so much I can never remember which file has which answers.
"I'm Banjo...WOAH!!!"
I died! 😂😂😂
BANJO CAME OUT IN SMASH LAST NIGHT YEEEEEE
7:36 Good job Antdude you changed the error screen i'm proud

Didn't I watch this video just yesterday?

Reuploaded because he messed up with some Mario footage
At 7:37 there was that red screen error message thing instead of Mario 64 Gameplay
Thanks for reviewing my favorite game of all time. Thanks!
Can you look at Yoshi Safari🦖
Nobody cares
I've been gone for two months from looking at Banjo in smash memes and then I learn that Banjo's in smash.
Congratulations, you lovable bastards, you did it!
why doesn't anyone like my favorite game attic attack???
Well, I'm kinda meh on it.

Did anyone else get a VHS tape in the mail back in the day that advertised this game? I remember my parents handing me this tape that had this strange looking game called ‘Banjo Kazooie’ on it.
Then I played the tape and immediately begged my parents for the game. I got it day one and proceeded to have my heart stolen.
I downloaded banjo kazooie on xbox game pass then a day later this happened
Aaron Lox what?
To be honest with all the powers she has kazooie could probably do this massive adventure on her own
