Well i know some of them but still the others were interesting and asiding that number was a no brainer for obvious reasons and for the most part i also managed to learn about some parts of your life and I'm happy that some series your a fan of and especially sailor moon influenced your life and made you the person your are now

Seen a few but I agree with your views on Sailor Moon. Crystal yes enjoyed that too but oof the animation at times was jarring. My only main issue with the manga is the pacing.
I think if you liked Death Note you might like Code Geass.

That's really cool about Ayashi no Ceres. :) Sucks about the fansub part, tho. I'm jealous of foreigners watching anime in Japan as they first aired, especially people who lived there in the 90s when social media wasn't a thing. One Evangelion podcast host gave her account of seeing The End of Evangelion in the theater in 1997 and it was pretty fascinating.

Cannot second this enoughhhhh!!! It is so manga-loyal in the best way possible, super beautiful, and just well done in every way. Bonus for those who have seen the original dub, the English voice cast is almost entirely back (with improved pronunciation of any Japanese words like names), and it is super nostalgic to hear the same voices you loved the first time around. I never watched the original sub so I’m not sure if the Japanese voice cast is also the same, but I like the current cast a lot (although this is one where I 100% prefer the dub in good part because of the warm fuzzy nostalgia feels of hearing the same voices from the first time I fell in love with this series almost two decades ago).

I felt that "please finish it!" bit with my own favorite manga--Detective Conan, haha. It's still ongoing after all these years ;o; Hopefully we can both read the end of our favorites soon. And really cool that you got a mention in Ceres! :O

This was fun! There are a few on this list I haven't heard of. (Btw, I know you translate, but have you ever thought of dubbing? You have the right kind of energetic voice for it...)

Fushigi Yuugi was also one of the first manga I got into! After finding an issue of Animerica Extra in London while there on a school trip. Also, it's really nice to see a top 11 on YT that's so full of shoujo and 90s anime. xD

Fushigi Yugi is one of my all time favorites! It was by sheer luck that I found an art book when I visited Japan in 2000, not knowing the language.

Having Guru Guru and GTO on your list???? Immaculate taste. Did you watch the new version of Guru Guru that came out a couple years ago? If so what did you think? I never heard of the series before and gave the new version a shot on a whim and I fell in love. Nike and Kukuri are so funny and cute and the side cast was incredible. The series is so underrated.

I gotta watch Ayashi no Ceres again now that it's on streaming. I watched and read bits of it in the early 2000s but I was still a kid then and still using allowance money to buy this stuff lol so I didn't get far in to either.
Also Kageki Shoujo references Glass Mask! I'm like hey I recognize this 🤣

I can reccomend the Japanese Death Note live action movies, they have a better ending than the manga/anime in my opinion.
I love all Sailor Moon versions the same, including the musicals.^^

Same! Sailor Moon is my number one as well. I wouldn’t be living in Japan had it not been for the series either. And like you, I find the manga rather boring too. Some of the lore is fun, but it’s never really fleshed out. Also, besides Usagi, the characters are pretty one dimensional in the manga and in Crystal (and even then... Usagi is a bit bland in most cases). I saw both of the Eternal films in theaters, and while it was great to see Sailor Moon on the big screen like I’d always wanted to as a kid, they were just kind of meh.
