- Changing my bi-fold to double/french doors.
I wanted better access to my pantry, so I converted the existing bi-fold doors into double doors or french doors. It was a fairly simple build: remove the center hinges connecting the two doors in the center. Add new door hinges to the outside, new knobs and a magnetic catch to keep them closed. Fill the old knob hole with wood filler, sand and paint.

Even though I loved the door tutorial, YOUR ADORABLE DOG WAS WHAT MADE ME HIT THE SUBSCRIBE BUTTON.🐶
Pefect, straight forward. No unnecessary commentary. This man is the best go to guy
Thanks!
Yes I hate all the yapping , if you need to explain say something if not shhhhh love this . On my way to home depot
This is EXACTLY what I've been wanting to do in my kitchen. Thank you so much for this excellent video!
Nice video. I did the same thing with my laundry doors and a couple closets. Note for anyone wanting to try this: you end up with a wider gap at the bottom than you have on a typical door. Also, you can add strips of wood around the inside of the closure to create a door jamb. This helps to give your door something more to bump up against than just the magnet and can help minimize the "this used to be a sliding door" look. I think I used 1/2" (or 3/8") x 2" strips of wood.
+Andrew Sharps thanks for posting the tips!
Came for the vid, stayed for the music
Great job. This is such a better option for ANY closet or pantry!
Wish my handyman looked like this
This is beautiful. One thing I will probably add to mine is a thin strip of one by at the top. The magnetic latch is good, but you want a little more support in case someone leans into them by mistake
Good point, would be a nice addition
Brilliant!!! Thanks for this vid, saved me some $$$ on new doors!! Bi fold doors are such a pain in the ass!!! I'm definitely going to do this to mine!
Joy Coffey no problem! Thanks for watching and good luck!
You're welcome! Glad I stumbled across it. Thanks, can't wait to get started!
Yes they are a pain in the arse!
Been looking for something like this fo a while. We have French doors on our pantry that are individually 15x80 that we used to mark my kids’ heights with over the years. We are selling the house so they’re coming with us and the buyer wants the same doors. Can’t find the French doors in that size. Going to go to Lowe’s ASAP and get the bifold and just convert.
I love the construction in socks.
I did it! I did it and I'm a Lady!
Thank you!😊
Awesome! Glad I could help!
I would like to do it too (girl by myself). But I don't know if the hinges will fit. Doesn't it have to be done like a regular door - where there needs to be an indentation for the hinges? I have molding around the border of the closet. Would love to do it myself. The doors are very heavy.
@@HawaiianSkies no I bought different hinges no indent needed try it nothing beats a failure but a try!
Tea Step Thank you! My doors are a very tight fit so I’m not sure there is the tiniest room for hinges unless I shave the door. I will look into it! Thank you!
I bought non mortice hinges.
Nice job. Love the dog, too.
Thanks! She always tries to make an appearance when I'm shooting!
Ya! The dog was adorable!!! 🦮
I've been wanting to do this too. I am noticing, it doesn't look like your hitting solid wood when you are drilling in the drywall as the drill suddenly lunges in to the hole, indicating it isn't hitting a stud. Just make sure you hit wood when you all do it yourselves. Also I noticed that I would probably have to flip both doors inside out so that the hinge holes that were between the doors are against the wall side now with the new hinges. I guess you could fill them with putty and paint though. I like that music too! Just trying to be helpful. Thanks!
Wood Fillter/Paint is the way to go - If you flip the doors I think it looks awkward with the big space in the center.
I wondered about that… He attached them to drywall? They'll pull out in no time.
I'm going to try and do this to close off my narrow stairway that has no room for a full size door. wish me luck! Tired of hanging a sheet of plastic every winter to keep heat on the main floor. And thanks for listing the source of the music.
Good luck!
Wow, beautiful man... I love man Black... 👏👏👏😍😍😍
This is exactly what I needed to learn!!! THANK YOU!!!! ❤️
Love it. Nice calming music and great work man!
Thank you!
The only guy who gives you the choice to dislike. Liked just for that.
Thank you so much for this video! I hate the bifold ones in my house. This looks so much better
你真是个聪明的男子汉!这正是我也想要改变的,谢谢分享!
Thank you!
Thank you! Hoping to do the same with my laundry room
The dog is so cute🥰🥰🥰
thanks :)
This is exactly what I needed!
Glad it helped!
great job brother.. thanks for the video. am going to try to convert my bi fold door the same way.
BRILLIANT!
Love the music. 😊
Thanks!
Awesome. I plan on doing something similar. I want to install glass bifold French doors to separate my living room from my bathroom/bedroom space.

Looks good! Although, some touch up painting needed.
Came for the video, stayed for the ripe peaches!
This is AWESOME!!!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for this video!!
yes! super helpful! thank you!
Thank you so much!! Perfect!
Glad it helped!
Nice! Will try this with my own pantry doors!
For me it gives an idea of what can be done and how. I am sure with some common sense you can ask someone at Home Depot for additional information. Stop being mean some of you and say thanks because you didn’t know how to do it or that it could be done.if you knew then keep moving the video is not for you. If you got better then make your own RUclips that we can view and get something from you. Some of you smh 🤦♀️ .
Awesome 👍
Enjoyed your music..some of those how to videos I can't watch because of their crappy music and unnecessary talking.
Thank you!
Would help for him to explain each step as he did it!
This is the one thanks!
I did it for 2 sets....not as easy as it looks but very doable!
Amazing work! If there are stud already there? Or you just screwed the door into drywall?
Nice Video!! Now I know what to do with my closet .. I love the 🐕 dog he so cute 😍😍😍
Thank you!
Hey Moustacheio, better recess those hinges!
I'm trying to do this to my opening but I do not have door frame (jamb) can I install straight into the dry wall like you did ?
I have one question. What did you drill the hung hinges to? It looked like there was nothing behind that drywall when you were predrilling those holes.
Guess we'll never know… I suspect his doors fell off shortly after he posted the video. Maybe it was more practical to put them back on as bifolds than to add a frame around the doorway so he could properly mount them on wood. 🤷♂️
I did it end up damaging the dry wall
My opening is 24 inches but the bifold doors are 11 and 3/4 each. I am thinking there will be a space that needs to be filled.
You could cut a thin 1 or 2 inch door length strip of wood and over lap one door and glue to the other door so when you closed it looks like the doors are fully closed. Similar to how some fridge doors have that 2nd internal lip that allows for a more tight close. Only downside is you will always have to close one of the doors before the other to close them.
Great job ... hope you used drywall screws on the wall!
Not enough, really. You never want to hang doors on drywall.
What size are the hinges? Different than regular door hinges?
I believe they are just standard 3.5" door hinges, but you should double check the thickness of your door
what size was your bi fold door?
Unfortunately I don't remember, I'm not at that house anymore
That looks worst than the original. There are no cutouts for hinges, there are no door jambs, and most of all, the gaps are huge and rough all around...
You have to remember we are coming here to learn how to do something.
Stop being a hag. Go to the Home Depot on a Saturday morning class and learn something.
Yeah I wish he would have listed what kind of materials where used and how far he measured down the hinges.
What no voice over on what you're doing? How do we know the size holes to cut etc.????
Should of done a step by step instructions. Also no need for music, not like home DIY projects are enjoyable like songs.
I bought Woodglut once and now I have lifetime access to thousands of woodworking projects.
