It doesn’t matter what language it is.. 80s songs are all so cool and nostalgic
Not _ALL_ of them...80's Pop from the US was mostly about striving for personal betterment against the 'world', hence why Rock and Mo' Town were more en vogue and so much Pop centered around the same handful of individuals.
The early 90's wasn't any different or better.
depends about the personal & social context... and the mood of the day

brother what
Let's go. These memories are so nostalgic It's been 13 years since I left Japan. Yesterday was my 11th birthday, I'm going strong. I'm also ethnically Asian, and I moved to America when I was 4.
As a half British kid born in 2007 this is very relatable
I had to read that a couple of times lol
I don't care what anyone says. Music in the 80's was just *chef's kiss* no matter what language it was in. It's just superior.
YES
Agree
Top favorite type of music. 80s and 90s music will also make me feel nostalgic even if I've never heard a certain song. I almost hate modern music that's not from Japan, a great cartoon or anime soundtrack, or video game music. Aside from that, old music is what my childhood was made of thanks to my Grandpa. It's all his fault. But I'm grateful. And happy that this is the music that makes me feel things. And not Cardi B blasting on loud speakers singing about stuff I never wanted to hear or needed to. No shame to those who like her though.. Bye now. Take care and keep vibing.
Superior to today’s pop, yeah. But try the previous decade (70’s) on for size

@@bazejbartecki2173 same. i feel its the anime and car culture of our generation that creates the nostalgia for us
I love how people are still discovering this music 😊
The reason you all feel so nostalgic is for the fact that this music was made before the cold and stiffness of social media took residence in our hearts . It's a collective feeling of nostalgia , something that got lost to the past , and will never come back
i don't think its specifically that... im 41... i listen to a lot of different music and love 80s music in general... but japanese city pop is just different, aside from a few songs from america/england of the 80s , most of the song are just good song, doen't give feelings of nostalgia.. frikking City pop japanese give it almost all the time , no idea why tho.
If it was social media problem, i would feel the same with all old songs.. but only japanese one give this feeling.

I am a 21-year-old Japanese. I only know Japan in recession.
I'm not particularly troubled by poverty, but I have a strong admiration for Japan in the 1970s and 1980s.
It's said that remembering Japan's 70's and 80's, which you shouldn't know, is called anemoia, but that is the same feeling for Japanese people.
Just as people from overseas yearn for this era in Japan, I, who is a Japanese who doesn't know that era, also longs for it.
I hope that you will continue to meet good quality City Pop and have a richer life.
I'm sorry if it's unnatural English.
P.S. (2/9/2022)
Thank you for all the warm comments.
I missed the timing, so I won't reply to each one, but I've read everything.
Hey I think your English here was perfect! I'm not the type of person to judge someone else based on their language but I think you did great writing this. Even though i wasn't born in this era, I completely understand your feeling. I hope you, as well as other people, have someone to listen to this with because this genre of music is a magical experience. Sorry for this entire mouth-full of non-sense, but I can't help to say it. I hope you and others have a fantastic day and have fun. Happy holidays!
"natural English" is subjective, your grammar is great, compared to monolingual English speakers even. And your vocabulary is better than 80% of English speaking people as well
Well, Japan is not the same since the famous crisis of the 90s, but it is light years away from being a bad country (I think), have a nice day!.
PD: Don't worry, your English is very good. ^^

Nostalgia For A Time You’ve Never Known
It's funny how kids in America talk about wanting to grow up in the 70s but their life would be practically the same and they would have to buy black sabbath vinyls to listen to them.
But japanese people actually have a reason to want to go back.
Edit: I take back what I said about not wanting to return to the 70s as an american. The price of living is insane
As an Irish person born in the 2000s I too recall walking down the streets of Nagoya back in 80s how nostalgic
As a 16 yearold India whos never left my country ahh thanks for beinging back my good old memories 😊❤
I grew up with my grandpa playing 80's anime, so i grew up listening to the 80's anime openings, so this is really familiar and pleasant to hear
That's so wholesome 😭
The first song rlly make me move my body, such a vibe even tho i didn't know the meaning of these song🤣
And it realllyyyyy makes me happyyyy hahahaha🤣
Eat you up really made me dance it's such a bop
For one night, I beg you.
For once, let me be there.
In a time gone,
In a place far way,
I ask for a place
I've never been
To be returned to.
I discovered City pop with the song Stay with Me and now I'm addicted to this genre. I'm 20 years old, but the songs create such a nostalgic atmosphere that it's like I'm 60 years old and I remember my 20s, ahh it feels so weird and good woww
I searched up mallsoft songs, found a song that sampled an 80s song, really liked that, and then this playlist got recommended to me, man, 80s songs are honestly cool and give me nostalgia of a time decades before I was born (I'm 14)
😊私は日本人ですが、ヨーロッパのクラシックを聞くとあなたと同じような感覚になります✨✨✨🌃✨✨✨✨
Ah yes, I, a Mexican American girl of 17, remember my times in Japan 30 years ago. Great times I had cruising in the city with my then to-be husband. How I wish I could go back

From ur brother to everyone
Be safe and enjoy it
When I'm going for a long hour drive out of town, I played this and let me tell you......the driving experience was totally different. I feel like driving towards the 80s sunset scene. It's sooooo good, it gave me the unexplained melancholy and nostalgic feels

*_"80's is the Golden Era of Music"_*
Music is timeless but that decade is the Best.
my dad grew up in the 80s and he said 80s was a low point for music
I disagree but you can have your shitty opinion I guess
Chill bro, why so rude?
@@ihatemirrors1216 well, so is now with the mainstream
You can’t really compare generations of music when they’re all completely different from each other…
This brings back the memories of the 2526 year's summer on Mars, Tokyo-15 city.
