The Spartan 3 program was created by one of Dr Halsey’s rivals who stole her research to create their own cheaper option with a higher acceptance rate for recruits. During the war the Covenant were vigorously glassing every human world they could find, their inhabitants would send their children off to the inner colonies for their safety while the parents would stay to fight for their homes and would eventually be wiped out. So now you would have countless children, now orphaned and nowhere to turn to so ONI would recruit them directly to the Spartan 3 program. Some Spartan IIs were reassigned to help with the Spartan IIIs training. (This story is better described in the First Strike and Ghosts of Onyx novels)
@@x2zchat depending on how deep Rob will be going into the lore I don’t want to spoil too much so I’ll just say Col Ackerson (Halsey’s rival) in the beginning is 100% against the existence of Halsey’s Spartan IIs and argued with the UNSC top brass to have her substantial funding re diverted to his projects “(It was stated that the funding for the SIIs was equivalent to the cost of an entire battle group of UNSC warships). Eventually Ackerson changes his thinking since despite the cost the SIIs were extremely effective against the covenant, the only downside was their lack of numbers. Ackerson offered the UNSC a cheaper alternative, after stealing Halsey’s research he was able to come up with a more palette-able approach, using the countless war orphans that no one would miss and a more dilute form of the augmentation process, unlike the SIIs narrow selection criteria the SIIIs was more open, to minimise the number of “washouts” With this larger pool of Spartan candidates, they were able to sort them into companies of several hundreds instead of fireteams. The best comparison I’ve seen to describe the difference between SIIs and SIIIs is the difference between Captain America and Thor from the Avengers, one being much larger, stronger with greater durability were the other was faster, lighter but still stronger than the average human.
In addition to the Spartan 3s they were not made by Halsey. She initially thought ONI made more Spartan IIs but later found out her rival Ackerson made them. It should also be noted that during Chief’s armor test Ackerson approved very dangerous tests like dropping bombs on Chief. He nearly killed the Chief but Chief survived his injuries. Do you plan to show him Deliver Hope or the day before trailers? Because both are great.
Got to point out that Spartan II's were few in numbers from the outset, and had much mystery surrounding them. There were whispers and stories about these super-human soldiers among the rank and file troops, and most people didn't know if these Spartans actually existed or not. A Spartan II is usually large and imposing, possessing great strength and endurance. Kidnapped by Halsey to become human weapons. Spartan III's were the cheaper, mass produced version. Inferior armor (most had no shields, Noble team had better gear than most), less augmentations lead to them having lesser abilities compared to the II's, but still way better than common soldiers. The III's were generally more normal-sized, compared to II's. Orphans who were asked the simple question "Do you want to avenge your parents?" by unscrupulous military men. The products of these programs are all called "Spartans", but the classification number is very important in order to distinguish them, as they differ quite a bit in training and how they came to be.
SPOILER ODST/Spartan Buck imo described each gen perfectly according to Greek mythology, Spartan II's are the Titans, Spartan III's are the Gods of Olympus and the Spartan IV's are the Demi-Gods.
Spartan 3 Augmentations are crazy.....if you guys have the time you two should check out the best Halo youtuber, Installation 00. he has the crazy in depth breakdowns of the augmentation process. Gamma Company with the craziest augmentation of any Spartan class.

Deliver Hope is the third trailer I showed him
@@x2zchat Awesome. Can’t wait to see his reaction. Also super excited about him playing Reach.
If Rob liked this trailer then he’ll love the next one, which is also my favourite 🥹
You should have him react to the spartan class breakdown and augmentation lore videos, a lot of them on youtube are good so pick your choice of video.

Not sure if someone else mentioned this already but Noble team is comprised of 5 Spartan 3s aka discount Spartans. Not true Spartans like the II's
