Cheers for the memories ❤ them trains. The Adelaide trains back then had character including the jumbos. As a kid waiting for a train for school excershion with the other school kids and our teacher would say which train is coming redhen or jumbo it was like lotto miss them days but i have to get down that museum soon this year😃👍
Glad you enjoyed it, the Railway Museum is a great place to re-live thise memories! Look out for the Behind Scenes weekend because you can go inside the Jumbo! It was on in May last year! Their websiite:- nrm.org.au/
Caught one of these to school every day for ten years....then on a weekend throw bikes and surfboards in the baggage compartment....big part of my youth in the mid 70s/80s..thanks for posting 👍
Wonderful memories for you and many others also have a special place in their hearts for the RedHens- so many stories and a big part of South Australians lives back then. Have a great day!
As a child, I loved a school holiday trip in a Redhen, from Adelaide to Bridgewater. Hoping the front seat next to the driver was empty, so I could look out the front window all the way.
@@AM22trainsandthings I left SA 30 years ago . I used to go with my father to a place that had a lot of loco's waiting for the scrapper, but I can not remember where that was. This was way before the historical society at Port Adelaide. I think it was at Mile End. It maybe there I was a Brill but I have never travelled on one.
@@cat793cdumpy The previous site of the Railway Museum was at Railway Terrace, Mile End. SteamRanger Heritage Railway operatred the Brill on the Cockle Train and I hope it does again soon!
started high school in 1994, had these for 2 years, so lucky enough to have been in one, these trains always had a smell of urine, graffiti remover and disinfectant 😁, having us all packed in with the door open wasn't the best idea either
They belonged to The Yorke Peninsula Tourist Railway and that was their colours but they have since closed. the one that you think is a Jumbo is a SuperChook- a modified RedHen.
I have been really sick and it will take a while to get it done but I will bear it in mind. Only been out once for a brief time this week. Have a nice Sunday!

Lovely memories and a nice trip we can't take anymore sadly. Thankyou
Awesome video! Great job. Invokes such a lot of memories. Often head down to Goolwa with my grandson just to get my fix of the Red Hens.
Yes it's a wonderful heritage railway and the RedHens are verey special to South Australians!
Awesome railcars!
Yes they are!
As a kid I did hundreds of trips in these and a few with RX and F class before they were taken out of service.
Everyone has a story to tell about them in Adelaide-they are treasures indeed-a bit hot maybe but a very special part of our past!
Brings back a lot of memories, I miss them all including the Brills and Bluebirds.
I know-a lot of history there! Glad you enjoyed it!
@@AM22trainsandthings I never went in a Brill or the Bluebird.
@@cat793cdumpy Did you see them at the Museum or the Brill on SteamRanger?

Many thanks Silvio, not many trains to share because I have been sick so some old footage and friends photos did the trick! Have a great Sunday!

They are heritage treasures now!
Does anyone have a photo of Munno Para train station from the 80's or 90's?
I'm sorry I don't as I don't live up that way. Maybe some of my subscribers can help you?
@@AM22trainsandthings That's fine, I knew it was a long shot but you never know. :)
I think I might have taken some pictures of the Red Hens on my Box Brownie! I might get them scanned, would you like to see them?
Yes please that would be wonderful!
@@AM22trainsandthings great! How would you like me to send them to you once I get them scanned?

In the first photo with the jumbo and red hen do you know why the are painted in red white and blue

@@AM22trainsandthings do you know if they've been scrapped or are held privately?
