@@orphnemusic6788 Just watched video and it appears to have happened just as Jr said. Get out of here with that crap man. It’s fine to be a hater but this crosses the line.
Good thing it wasn't Joe Rogan interviewing him. Jr would have never gotten a word in edgewise, we'd just hear about all the plane crashes he's never been in.
Dale Jr is so open and honest about his life. We all should applaud and appreciate his successes, and also understand how precious life is! Thank God his family is still here
Dale Jr. sharing this is reliving a past trauma. Obviously that is not easy.. You can tell your human when it gave you a lump in your throat and hold back the tears.. we all are better people for having heard this awful experience. Hopefully it evolved us all as compassionate people.
JR is so wise beyond his years. Takes a real man to admit that we ALL got issue we need to work on. And to add JR has balls of steel not sure I could get right back into a plane after that traumatic situation wow.
Do more stuff with Dale. Listening to him tell a story, literally any story it does not matter, it’s soooooo interesting. Great story teller! A1 content!! I know it’s old but it’s gold
Taylor and Will Thank you for a Outstanding interview! You allowed your guest to tell his story without constantly peppering him with question after question. Well done!
I'm so glad that Dale Jr. made it through this crash. My family has been fans of the Earnhardt family for 37 years. Our entire family mourned Dale Sr. for years. We've been to so many races. I've watched Dale Jr grow up. I love him and their entire family.
As a former Flight Attendant for Northwest Airlines for MANY years, I cannot express the fear that went through me just hearing him relive this experience! I lost friends in the 1990 NWA collision at Detroit due to fire. I will never forget remembering that when I saw video of Dale’s plane on fire when it came on the news. People never pay attention during the safety demo prior to takeoff. ALWAYS count how many rows you are from the closest emergency exit, including the window exits. I can’t express how important that is!
If I get to choose my seat I always try to pick exit closest to the wing area. One because I’m 6’4 225 lbs and strong to operate door. Two because it only makes since that area most likely is the strongest built structurally because of forces applied to wings and weight etc. Three I’m first aid trained for 30 years and being in center of the plane I can help front or back equally if needed. And if there’s ever a terrorist threat also gives me position to see most of plane to see threats and situation so I can eliminate the threat without endangering others.
My dad used to work as a paramedic at the Rescue Squad Station just down the road from the airport. He was there that day and actually helped comfort Amy and Ila shortly before they were transported to the hospital. He also made sure that Dale knew that they were ok and that they were being sent to the medical facility before he was transported to the hospital himself. I will never forget the story he told me on how he met Dale in the most bizarre circumstance possible. I think he said that when he told him that his wife and daughter we ok and being transported he said, "Dale". Dale responded, "Yeah?" And then it clicked to my dad who he was. The voice, the face, the wife and daughter, the private jet. It all started to make more sense. I'm glad that Dale is ok and I hope he forever recovers from this.
Dale Jr is the freaking man! His dad is the reason I started watching NASCAR. He died on my 16th birthday while we were watching the race. Sad day. Dale Sr would be so proud of Jr
Wow, That was emotional to hear. I want to say thanks to the show hosts for not interrupting Dale and just allowing him to tell the story. Dale is great at storytelling and you can tell he speaks from the heart.....He’s a Good Man, Great Husband and a Great Loving Father.
the best journalism is when you can simply set up your guest with something that allows them to just speak with no filter and no interruptions. Awesome segment
I hope he never questions again if he made his Daddy proud, I know that Dale Sr. could be a tough cookie, but I know that he was proud of Jr. and would be even more so had he lived!!!! This man is the most real, honest person there is and he deserves the best life!!!
Hearing how he talks about his daughter on planes makes me think they're going to have a real good conversation about it when she's old enough to be able to
Jr is a great storyteller, great detail doesn’t rush it, builds up to the climax perfectly. This probably didn’t help his ptsd from crashing. Damn, this boy has been through some shit. Hope his days of being in wrecks is over
Thank God you all survived it looked horrible. Your love for your family is very encouraging and inspirational for others. I hope your experience helps others.
Dale Earnhardt was my only hero growing up, and I cried for 3 days when he died. But now, Jr. is my new hero just because of how good of a dad he is and because of the great man he is! Amazing and intense clip. Thank you guys!

Damn,I totally forgot that he was in a plane crash. I remember hearing the news about it and deep down inside I was feeling something I can't explain until I heard he and family was ok.
I am a FedEx Express driver in the area of Elizabethton Tennessee where he crashed . I was literally about 10 minutes behind getting to the highway where the plane stopped . Glad they were ok. Plane was burnt to a crisp as well as the road
I drove by there as it was happening could see a plane down at Elizabethton Airport and smoke and flames had started but could see people near the plane, I went on up and picked up a load of tires and by the time I was coming back, it was on the radio that was juniors plane, I did alot of praying that day
Thanks to Dale for talking about it. As a Racing driver, pilot and human, Dale's words stick with me. Its good to learn from others experience. You are a good man and a great daddy Dale!:)
I’m not into NASCAR or know anything about it, but I watch anything with Dale Earnhardt Jr. when it pops up on my recommended feed. Seriously. No idea about racing. At all. But he’s such a class act, role model and story teller.
Junior was doing a Mountain Dew promotion on his podcast around this time. It was called "Dew Time off", where he chose an employee to give them a day off and some cash to do something they want. The week of this accident, he had given his long-time pilot the "dew time off". I still wonder if it was that pilot or a fill-in pilot.
That’s the kind of guy he is. I would give up what little vision I have left to work for that man. Not kidding. His explanations on handling tragedy and personal loss that has got me through my own tragedies with my health. I know I am not the only one. Hopefully one day I will get to see him to thank him. I like how he's ok with getting help , because in my world it's a sign of weakness if you seek help. That is the tough greman head strong side, that being said. The world and every thing has gotten so much more complicated. Dealing with some kind of treatment or counseling, could be a better reality than just bucking it all the time.

Dads can be tough and scary some have hard parents or become like them I can tell your your own man I also think you were never a dirty driver and admired your skill. Take care and your family.
Dale Jr. Witnessed his father's death, the Corvette he was driving explodes and catches on fire, the plane him and his family are on crashes and catches on fire, he has been in some really bad wrecks while in NASCAR to cause him severe concussions that puts him into early retirement. Dale Jr. Has witnessed, lived, and went through major traumatic events that have changed his life, but he doesnt give up, he finds ways to heal and learn, he has the love and support of family, friends, and fans.
That pilot had been with Junior for 14 years & had just gotten an award for employee of the month I heard on his podcast. NTSB called it pilot error, but who knows.
very few know of the hairy situations that Dale Sr. escaped in the ‘90s, while flying piston-powered Beechcraft Twins into NC, after dark on Sundays. there were situations where spontaneous adverse weather conditions occurred, with Dale Sr on long/short finals or just touching down, that could’ve ended up on evening news without someone intently watching radar & advising. I know a certain ATC that talked Sr down in to uncontrolled airfields & didn’t terminate services until N3DE or N1DE safely cleared the active…he’s my Dad. he’s badass; loves Fender guitars, tri-powered Pontiac 389s & 455HOs in GTOs & has slept with my Mom since 1967. Dale Sr used to race back to NC after Cup Races & that’s No BS. Dad would vector him & others through & around the bravo of ATL, but always gave advantage to his favorite driver, Dale Earnhardt. I got cool stories for JR, if we ever meet. I know he’ll dig it, because he’s never heard them before.
Amen to that! I think about stuff like that all the time, other sorta "famous" people or even regular everyday folks you see do some things that are amazing and they truly have a good heart and don't second guess to put them selves last in any situation... those are the kind of people that I wish, would want to run for some kind of office.. they're the real definition of a public servant!
The world is a better and more wholesome place with Junior in it.
For sure. Man has had his battles in life. Losing his father how he did, battle with concussions, plane crash etc
