    PARADOX, BRUHV, I started playing Jaina because of this video, and LEMME SHARE WHAT I'VE LEARNED in 33 levels on her.
    People will literally pipe up in QM and tell you how you need to take Winter's Reach. Screw. That. I've found it's wrong 100% of the time. At that range, you will miss more of them because the missile travels relatively slow. It also encourages a sort of passive backline playstyle. And as for chasing down heros, that's where WATER ELEMENTAL should be doing the work.
    I don't even bother with Ring of Frost anymore. Water Elemental is such a gank monster. You pair up with someone like a Genji, cast Water Elemental right on some overextended fool's face, they start to run but they're perma-slowed so they're toast.
    And now my most important point, NUMBING BLAST. In your water elemental build, you take the Level 16 Armor Reduction talent. I've found this to not be optimal! Because at level 20 with Wintermute and Numbing Blast, I have gotten SO MANY kills by casting Water Elemental on a foe from afar, letting the water elemental attack once (preferable) or shoot a Frost Bolt, and then Cone of Cold to root my enemy. Often I'll pop Icy Veins and just let the elemental unload Frost Bolts at that point and it kills most squishies, plus it gets Cone of Cold up again a few seconds later for ANOTHER root. But a lot of times, the roots allow me to run up with Jaina to drop a Blizzard and start doubling-down the Frost Bolts which just CHUNKS fools. So exciting to absolutely DUNK some unfortunate dullard with an avalanche of Frost Bolts. Especially if it's some Falstad that's been cocky all game. I've played so many games where I struggle against high mobility assassins only to hit level 20 with Numbing Blast and Wintermute and just totally fucking erase them in a blink, sometimes two at a time, often carrying the team to victory.
    Anyways thanks bro love the vids

      @kofola9145 5 лет назад

      yeah because winterreach + piercing bolt alows you to hit a tank and things behind the tank. But then you have the talent that turns everybody into Yrel for 6 seconds and allows you to combo Q on itself. On the other hand, fingers of frost is just mana management and you already have more then enough dmg to kill everything.
      Good point on numbing blast, I need to try that one.

    When the enemy team has gankers like Valeera, Tracer or Zeratul I pick 1 Lingering Chill, 4 Frost Armor 10 Water Elemental, 13 Ice Barrier 16 Numbing Blast 20 Deep Chill. It makes catching them when they try to escape much easier

    Hey, I really like this series (x Mistakes you might be making on x). It actually helped me to step up my game a few notches here and there, and I'd love to see even more of this. I prefer these kinds of tutorials, which actually tell you something you can actively do to improve you play, instead of just telling you that you've been picking the wrong talents the whole time, here's my pro-build, you're welcome! No thanks.
    But your tutorials are different; they focus on tactics and positioning and combos instead, and these are actual deciding factors when entering a teamfight. Keep up the good work!

    I'm not sure if i'm playing Jaina wrong but I like to play her close and personal. I use the shield build and lower armor, mostly open with E then W and end up getting the kill with the Q when they try to kite. If played properly she can be hard to kill. Ofc I won't do that vs a CC heavy comp. But I'm going to try this build for sure.

    Maybe this is the most generic build in NA but in Europe Lingering Chill - Arcane Intellect - Ice Lance is much more common and is THE actual soloQ build for Jaina. It may not sound like much but a 6 sec slow, and from lvl 1 at that, is absolutely insane. It also allows you to open with your Q, follow with an E (so that your lvl 16 procs) and still have your target Chilled by the time your Q is up again.
    I should add that for max damage output, provided you're not going to be punished by divers, you should always open with W, especially with the lvl 16 root. It maximizes damage and secures all three waves of blizzard, while proccing your root and your CD reduction on Frostbolt.

    Fingers of Frost is crap compared to lingering chill > arcane intellect. Health is your main concern on Jaina, not mana. Arcane intellect is a guaranteed hit with E>Q (or vice versa) on heroes, you do NOT need to rely on regen globes with her like you do Kael or Ming. -,-

    I can safely say that when you showed the first jaina video of combos i was about silver. Been watching all ur vids. But my main hero to rank up is jaina. Got to diamond 3. All because of u showed how to play jaina. Currently lvl 130 on her. The lower armor thing on 16 is the only thing i dont rly agree too much on. The root is just too strong on 16. U 1v1 any hero with it. Makes much safer plays. But i wanna thank you for showing this. Jaina is the strongest mage of em all. To carry with. Ming with resets is another thing, if u cant get em its just meh. Thank you paradox

    • @AndreiAvinov
      @AndreiAvinov 6 лет назад +2

      I play him like an uber-mage with infinite mana with rift build. Am i cancer?

    • @andmicbro1
      @andmicbro1 6 лет назад +8

      Prob is all about zone control. He requires set up with his pylons, so it's always a good idea to get to objectives early. Also placement of pylons is important. If you place it in an enemy's face they will kill it. So place them in bushes or in places that force the enemy to overextend to kill it.
      I personally really like the rift build, but I will go cannon build if they have stealth or high mobility heroes that are hard to land skill shots on.
      He's actually a lot more powerful than people realize, and a good probius can hold a position almost indefinitely. When he came out he was pretty weak, but now he's in a good spot.
      Also, he does provide some support to his team with attack damage buff, or the mana regen and spell damage buff plays really nice with whatever comp your team is made of. It's crazy too, and most teammates don't realize it, but at level 13 if you stand in his pylons and he takes the damage that's 35% more attack damage for auto attackers. And for mages the spell bonus is 10% and the mana regen is 2 more mana per second, just for standing in his field! Like that's permanent buff as long as you stand in the field.

    • @timothypike2171
      @timothypike2171 6 лет назад +1

      As shown in the video, if you take Ring of Frost, you also take E root to guarantee that Ring of Frost will hit.

    • @forceoflazy
      @forceoflazy 6 лет назад

      I wrote a whole argument in response, but then I realized that you can only benefit from the armor reduction with 1 Q and 1 wave of W (maybe 1 or 2 AA as well). The root is absolutely much more valuable, given the 1-2 guaranteed kills :)

  • @XXNemesisXXXX
    @XXNemesisXXXX 6 лет назад

    E - Q really does seem like a safer combo. Problem is you aren't rooting people with the E talent anymore. Wouldn't the armor reduction be better in this case?

    I like the video, but I don't like how you underrate Q range talent. It's one of the most important talents that completes "water pew pew" build. It's very effective again dive hard comp, allow backline snipe without endanger yourself, maintain ice lance better and finish off runner. However you have to change playstyle a lot like: play from 30% longer distance than usual, better at line skill shots over area skills, mana conservative, use water elemental to initial chill, don't often use W E in burst but mainly for controlling enemies position and initial chill (if water is down). Maybe the playstyle change makes it less appealing.

  • @orochifire
    @orochifire 6 лет назад +6

    The argument against Winter's Reach is silly given that you advocate for taking Ice Lance in the same breath. The range of your other abilities doesn't matter when the most economic one to use can keep a CC on someone running away and deal big damage every two seconds indefinitely.

      @HimariHimatsu 6 лет назад

      taking specificly about genji:
      any blinds or attack speed slows such as muradin just shuts down genjis dps, people might not know it but 80% of genjis damage comes from his auto attacks

    • @andmicbro1
      @andmicbro1 6 лет назад

      Picking up the root on E is really good since you can shut down a Tracer or Genji pretty well. Keep in mind they have to be chilled first, but when they dive you they will be forced to use their mobility to get away, or if your team is actually good and will follow up, that's a dead hero.

  • @PH-if3rl
    @PH-if3rl 6 лет назад

    Well, you can't claim using Q+E is a mistake, because that's the way to go about making most damage (esp. burst). And you don't know the guy's gonna stay there for another E, that would be just dumb to suppose at most cases (if you want to poke 50% off of hp before objective, for instance). And that's how you do it when using ROF. So I don't really understand why you would call it a mistake.
    More like using E+Q is some different safe poking way that can be used at some times when they can cc you easily. Also, you don't have to hang around near them if you have Winter's reach.

    • @blusafe1

      Homer12346 Blizzard is great for point control. If and when you know where an enemy team is going to bunch up you just put the blizz at that spot and let it do its thing. Also like blizzard for wave clear

    You forgot to mention, or maybe its just something that I only notice, that her trait does critical damage with her abilities for 4 seconds. Paying attention to this along with chaining ice lanced frostbolts allows you to absolutely SHRED damage at relatively low mana

    • @ben8929
      @ben8929 6 лет назад

      Mike Christie He didn't forget to mention it, the crits are just part of the base kit of Jaina so he isn't going to cover that, it's assumed that if someone watches this video they already know the base kit of Jaina.

    • @mikechristie9170
      @mikechristie9170 6 лет назад

      ben8929 Maybe I ought to have say he should have mentioned instead of forgot to mention. I just find Jania to be at her deadliest when she chains her criticals, but I'll agree I don't find it to be a common part of most playstlyes

    • @lucasbeck1391
      @lucasbeck1391 6 лет назад

      "not common" every Jaina guide i have seen have mentioned its important to combo your abilities because its common knowledge that her trait makes her deal more damage to chilled targets

  • @DaylenAmell
    @DaylenAmell 6 лет назад

    In regard to whether E first or Q first, I don't agree with what you said. Without Numbing Blast it's usually better to E first unless you want to hit someone who's out of the range of your E. However, after getting Numbing Blast at level 16, often you do want to root someone by doing Q first and then E and then W, or even W then E then Q, depending on the positioning and status (e.g. whether stunned, rooted or slowed) of your enemies. It's not just about your damage but about the killing potential coming from the root. I don't understand why you'd suggest that after level 16 one should by default still do E first and then wait for the second E to root, since there is no guarantee that you'd be able to hit the second E. With Numbing Blast there is little doubt that it's often (but not always) better to do Q or W before E.
    I therefore consider this point you made to be misleading.

  • @georgplatzer8213
    @georgplatzer8213 6 лет назад

    I disagree on Winters Reach. Most important skill forJaina! Why do you skill piercing Frostbolt if you do not skill range?

    • @NotParadox
      @NotParadox  6 лет назад

      Because of the range of her other abilities. If you go long range q. 1 it's easy to dodge at that range and 2 you can't use your other abilities. So you're effectively barely dpsing. If you wanted to dps from that range you should have picked someone else. Jaina is meant to be so scary that people don't want to get near you. So I get spell damage and regen so I can do more camps and waves without backing and be scarier in fights.

    • @georgplatzer8213

      I understand your points. As you also said in your Video. But I personally like to poke opponents far away. So a quick blizzard on an enemy and i can poke more or less infinite with my q .... it is not so good if the q has such short range, also i have the feeling that i am always in danger with such short range since i can not play as safe as with long range q

    cool vid, I usually take long range on frostbolt and blizzard because I'm a pussy that is afraid of genjis and other assholes like that. I will try this out and maybe get out of silver

    Hi. Good vid ;). I hope you, or anyone here, could answer some questions for me.
    1. What do you think about snowstorm? I feel like the increase in radius is so huge that you guarantee to hit multiple layers, in addition to hitting multiple people at once with it, giving you more uptime on your passive too.
    2. What do you think about icefury wand builds? I pick it versus a tanky comp or a comp where i can stay close because i feel that if you can use it to the max, it can greatly increase your damage, in addition to more interesting talent routes opening up. (Like ice barrier).
    Thanks again for the video :)

    You have awesome videos ! really!
    But all of that knowledge is worthless when your team is garbage and just keeps dieing and making bronze level mistakes ...
    And thats most of how games go in solo queue...
    i'm playing on plat and its impossible to advance since so many players are useless , clueless, exc..
    Any videos on that subject ?

    Do video like that was nice but the shame is that you don't explain this build work nice only on high elo. This build of Jaina is nice when you are not alone. If you have a low teamplay with you (bronze to platin), it doesn't work enough.

      with the E root at level 16 you can guarantee that your Ring of Frost will hit and you can take out nearly any enemy by yourself, otherwise, Water Elemental can help you kill targets yourself if needed.

      I dunno, used a build similar to this last night in UR to great success. Granted the people playing at that hour were push overs, but I pretty well terrorized lone heroes as well as did well in team fights.

      You can always gain value from that build as it allows you to merc fast + melt people with your root into RoF combo post 16. It only doesn't work if you can't do the combo properly or ignore mercing, any other situation is pure value, especially in lower leagues where people's positioning is bad.

    Most common mistake i keep seeing is that people use blizzard to get the chilled and then use rest of the spells

    • @Marceau.
      @Marceau. 6 лет назад +17

      IzayoiSakuya thats not a mistake, blizzard deals the least damage when it first lands, so if u follow up with the other spells once the target is chilled, they deal more damage than if your first spell is frostbolt or the cone, plus if you picked the frostbolt cdr talent or the cone root, it's instantly effective because the target is already chilled by blizzard

    • @Jonjon13Jonjon13
      @Jonjon13Jonjon13 6 лет назад +1

      It's okay on stationary targets (max dps), but on heroes, they can get out of the blizzard if they aren't chilled first anyway, so you'd lose a lot more damage.

    • @HarshaKaujalgi
      @HarshaKaujalgi 6 лет назад +3

      I disagree with that jon blizzard is used first to get the chill, follow up with cone to get the root (post 16) . Now they're taking damage from blizz too and you can throw out ice lances from further away

    • @Jonjon13Jonjon13
      @Jonjon13Jonjon13 6 лет назад +2

      It can work, but still, the first blizzard might not hit. It's situational, adapting to each situation is better than just having a rotation that can miss.

    • @HarshaKaujalgi
      @HarshaKaujalgi 6 лет назад +1

      yeah that's fair. I'll admit it is dependent on there being a chill previously or from the first blizzard hit

    Honestly, this video is pretty bad, because you can only learn out of it if you go for that specific build, cause the other builds do it differently. Try to get your tips on a basic level of the hero or name the video «guide for meta build jaina»
