Olivia, that "greenery is called SAW TOOTH CILANTRO, OR CULANTRO, OR SIMPLY PUT, PAK SHEE FARANG. Heavily used in Isaan region with Laarp. Enjoy your day.
Watching you, Mario, eating green peppercorn & red chili, people around here, in my neck of the woods in southern USA, would say, bewilderedly & endearingly, " That White Boy is Cray Cray." LOL
Love your videos. You are good sports to try things that are new. Olivia makes faces when she tastes something as if she doesn't like it at all, but if you wait, she eventually smiles and says it is delicious. Funny! Glad the faces don't mean the food is terrible, LOL!
Looks yum! Green peppercorns are my fave. Have you guys been to Malaysia yet? Roti Canai is the most common breakfast dish. I'm like you guys in that I'm not a big fruit eater but love the free fruit they always give you in Thailand haha
Not yet! It's one of the last countries in SE Asia we haven't been to. Unfortunately it's difficult to visit there right now. Their food looks amazing though 👍
The green herb that Olivia held up is called “saw tooth coriander.” The edges of the leaves look like teeth of a saw. Because it is so strong, I like to slice it real thin and put it over my food like a garnish.
it has many names in the world, in Thailand its Pak Chi Farang, part of the coriander family, also known as Culantro, Thai Parsley, Stinky leaf/weed and Sawtooth Coriander.
Roti Canai is actually an Indian Muslim dish. Canai is actually Chennai one of the city in India. Very famous dish in Malaysia. If you combine with egg it become roti telur. If you combine with chicken gravy+ egg(mashed together) it become Chicken Murtabak. If you combine with beef + egg it become Beef Murtabak. Some people also like to add banana into this roti and it become roti pisang. If you mixed with kaya and margerine it become roti Bom. If you make the dough very very thin and grill it on the pan it become roti tissue. My favourite is Roti Banjir telur goyang where the roti flooded with curry and Sambal( chili paste) and add with one fried egg where the yolk is stll raw on top of the flooded roti. It is heaven.... Whenever both of you come to Malaysia you can experiance it. Oh.... one more thing to add, the drink whenever you have this dish MUST be with HOT TEA TARIK.
The bread looked like good old suet pastry. Whilst I enjoyed all your Laos vlogs, I think moving to vlog in Thailand has given, and will give, you a chance to grow subs. 20k next, for sure.
By Thai standards, Klua Kling and Gang Som are the hottest from the South, but thats in terms of fresh and dried chilli, other curries with using black pepper and Chillies.
When your guy eat Thai spicy food specially Southern food, you can not eat plain. You have to eat with rice and vegetable the spicy gonna kill your stomach. The vegetable with spicy beff we call ผักชีฝรั่ง, ผักชีใบเลื่อย Culantro, Long coriander, Sawtooth coriander.
