I'm pretty new to fencing, what makes this bout so special?
@@weijizhu4102 it’s a pretty good bout, very close. It’s not legendary besides the fact that gerek was one of the fencers
15-14 in one period? This is an INTENSE bout! Not many off-targets, back-and-forth, so many long phrases. Really great to see!
Why why WHY did Meindhart decide to get so close and try to counter on that last touch? He was literally just standing there.

Intense bout
Meinhardt was wearing his mask the whole time, even when fencing... itkin had it pulled down when fencing
US foil referees are incredibly professional. Refereeing makes or breaks foil fencing.
1:47 no yellow card? Seriously? Meinhardt can literally see the back of Itkin's head as he stops fencing...
great bout! Why didn't Meinhardt just wait it out towards the end there and go to the second period?

@@adjd1576 That's for sure. He had this sort of remise/fade away counter attack he got a 3 or 4 times after a powerful attack. I don't know what ya'll in the foil world call it.

Nick is just too fast... unfortunately, if people can deal with the speed it fails. You can see Gerek feels like an older man in some of the touches lol.

They shouldn't allow coaching from the sidelines while they're fencing. The guy should be thrown out.
