Guys a liar. No one pays $17,000 for a watch and then all of a sudden discovers its fake without absolutely being visibly pissed, upset, and in disbelief way more than that. What a dirtbag...
I was going to type the same thing, but you beat me to it. This man should have been more upset knowing his watch is FAKE.
@@sebg2086or it's real, because it soule be asinine to fake a video like this. I guess u less it's someone that doesn't have a life like ursuelf.
Always have it opened up. Hard to fake the internals. Some swiss copies come close.
@@Keith-rk4tdno not true. Super clones come from China and they are very, very, very good. Even the movement is close upon first inspection. Have to bust out the loupe even on the movement to look at the finishing and screws ect,
Yup, dude probably bought a cheap replica Rolex.
So he buys a Rolex from a reputable high end shop and then gets a professional appraiser to verify and value it, he then takes it to a main street pawnbroker who says its a fake and he doesn't question his expertise in the strongest and loudest way possible. He knew it was fake and wanted to play the victim....
That guy was pretty calm for someone who just discovered that he was ripped off for 17 grand.
Definitely he knew that shit was fake
He had to know he was buying a replica. I don’t think he was fooled at all. That’s a really, really bad knockoff. The damn hour markers don’t even line up to the month markers in some spots. And it’s not even off by a little bit. They are way off. (Specifically the 7 and the 6 marker).
He totally knows they are all junk and fakes, that is why he is taking them to a pawn shop and not a legit watch shop
So the chain and cross was $3800 🫣 the chain is very thin
his box and papers are in storage and he's "not getting them any time soon" 🙄
The guy definitely knew it was fake 😂
Yeah the guy knew they were fake
Yes the guy knew they be fake
if he owns a Gucci watch EVERYTHING he says is now suspect. A Rolex owner would not even have it in the same box.
Agree
Agree
100% agreed. I’d never own / wear a fashion watch
Lol, this is probably true. I don't have expensive watches and I wouldn't own a Gucci watch 😂.
@@orangeyellow-me1pz it’s a fashion watch. I know guys that rock them proudly, and they know zero about watches. I’m ok with that, you don’t know what you don’t know and if they like it and are happy, I’m happy for them. They are not inexpensive, you are paying for the brand but they are really terrible cheap movements dressed up. They just do not know. But this cat has a Skydweller and is mentioning the Gucci in the same breath. It’s blasphemous and nobody who owns a Rolex would bring it with him.
He kept talking too much during the appraisal. If your stuff is real there’s really not much to say.
Knew that guy would have some fake stuff the moment he started talking about "Exchange Rates killing his business"
That guy knew that watch was fake!!
I bet he still rocks it & tells all his boys he's wearing 30k on his wrist.
100% knew it was fake. You would be heart broken if you just lost $17K.
The best way to spot the fakes is from the serrated ring around the dial
The knockoffs have that smooth nickle plated cast look. A real Rolex has a nice precise machined look
That guy probably bought that fake cheap ass watch for $20 in Thailand!
If it is a good fake about 3oo dollars 💸
Firstly, I HATE wristwatches and never wear one. My wrist just doesn't like them on. That said, YES I would like to have a FAKE ROLEX. Years ago I worked in a factory with a bunch of other mostly poor people.
One of my work colleagues wore a Rolex.
One day during teabreak a new co-worker at tea-break asked him if it was a REAL Rolex?
He answered "Well I paid $20 for it in Bali, so I'm thinkin' it probably isn't !"
(Bali, a popular tourism island under Indonesian control, is a popular fairly cheap holiday spot for folks in Australia and New Zealand).
That watch had lasted him over 15 years of everyday use, and was still going great last I heard. Mate, if a Fake Rolex watch mechanism is THAT reliable, then that's the watch I'd want to own !
The one thing that is absolutely certain is; he had no idea what he was talking about. He asked what the price of gold was currently at, as if that had anything to do with anything. Even if there was a significant increase in the price of gold, there would be no real sense of urgency from Rolex to increase their price to “keep up” because the mark up for any precious metals is already so high. You don’t buy a gold watch for the gold value.
I also noticed he didn't seem all upset about losing that much money he looked nervous he was walking around wonder where he got them from
In the first two minutes the guy gave about 6 different prices that he supposedly paid for the chain
This Guy knew the Rolex was Fake !
Anytime a person doesn't get irate finding out they got scammed is a scammer PERIOD!
Also instantly knew the price of gold
Should at least be calling the owner a liar/someone who has no idea what he's talking about because he (supposedly) knows he has the genuine papers and box in storage 🙄
Seemed too calm as he just lost all that money.......and , no box snd papers!!
I knew a guy who had a Rolex watch back when he was in Vietnam. He told me that he was advised to keep the box and all of the paperwork, including his receipt. He kept it all in a safety deposit box.
You didn't know him That guy was on Antiques Roadhouse.
Of course if you buy any high end expensive watch brand new then you keep the box, the pillow, the instruction manual, the guarantee card, and anything else that came with the watch, why would anyone throw those things away? Unless it's an antique watch you're looking at buying you should always be extra careful if the seller doesn't have the full box set that belongs with it, if all that is missing it can be a very strong indicator that the watch is either fake or stolen. Personally I would never buy a high end expensive late model second hand watch that didn't come as a full box set.
Rolex watchmaker and collector here. The watch in the video was an obvious fake, but even with a quality fake, the Sky-Dweller month complication is non functional and has to be moved manually. There has not yet been a fully functional replica of Rolex Cal.9002.
Hopefully CF comes out with one ;)

@@KiwiCatherineJemma Even cheap quartz watch movements can last 15 years. The point of owning a Rolex has nothing to do with its utility.
Bro rehearsed that reaction 😂, no-one loses £17,000 and acts like that
😂not a very good reaction to losing close to 20 g's....he needs a rehearsal, & acting lessons
If it is insured - that watch just became a claim on his policy and possible future criminal fraud charges... LOL
Great technique at delivering the bad news. He didnt even question your opinion, its great to see expertise in action. New subscriber from Wales UK.
“Display boxes in my storage unit.” Dead giveaway right there. That dude made George Floyd proud.
my man walked in wearing an apple SE watch, trying to play like he normally wears a rolex 😂
I always take a 100k watch to a pawn shop to get 5k out of it.....
I've always stayed away from people that walk around with two phones.
Drug dealer??
buddy lots of people have a work phone and a personal phone🤣
@@andrzejd5301 Very few people walk around with two phones. A guy trying to pawn his poorly made fake Rolex is NOT one of those people.
@@bettersteps its obvious you have never worked for yourself because if you did you would know that the only way to separate work from business is to have two phones🤣
@@andrzejd5301I hate carrying two phones almost all mobile phones have dual sim slots these days I always have my business sim card and my personal sim card in the same phone. You can easily just temporarily turn off one sim if you don't want to be disturbed by calls and messages on that number.
“I don’t have any boxes. They sit in my storage unit!” Yeah right!
That dude is for sure shady, he’s a real sucker.
"I read your reviews" proceeds to bring in a fake ass rollie lol
My man is quick!
"Hey what's up? This is fake"
He was not pissed off enough.
Con-men vacillate between two extremes when they are called out: 1) They act like they are a victim. 2) They get very belligerent.
never go into a pawn shop and let them take a Rolex out of your sight, or any expensive popular watch . far too easy for any pawnshop owner to swap it over for a close looking fake.. and yes they will if they think they can get a 20 grand watch off you so easy... this bloke was far to willing to let you out the shop....
Don’t take you watch to a pawn shop
Pawn shops pay the worst money for these watches and are at the bottom of the totem pole when it comes to qualifications in legit checking.
@@estatesla
I once pawned a Luminox for a fraction of its retail, but very few watches are pawnable. You can do better on Ebay.
lmao yeah, they just keep hundreds of different variations of fake ones in the back so if someone happens to walk in they have an exact fake ready to go. 🤣
@@capncheeks😂😂😂😂😂😅😅
100% when he kept throwing question around while you're looking at it, when you said that, thats exactlt what I was thinking, it's all random questions unlrelated to rolex just try to overplay that's he's casual, but in his mind he's not liking the silence and wants to break the ice to gauge what youre thinking from your replies.
The other tell is overstating all the unnecessary details in peculiar ways about revaluation for his homeowners insurance, and then being vague about certain areas like he doesnt know the name of the valuers "some mall valuer". When someone is lying they create a "history" for the events they like to make you beleive. they create this elaborate story to make it beleivable. But it's a tought act to pull off because they don't understand what a genuine person will remember and forget. So they "recall" unnecessary information and "forget" more crucial information.
When you told him it's fake, the "what?" was weak as fuck. If you paid 17grand for something and it's fake you'd be floored. then his follow up question revealed it. "how can you tell?", not "what makes you THINK it's not real?"
this made me appreciate the workmanship that goes into those watches. I had no idea. The seller was keen to learn about it as to figure out who he might be able to sucker into buying it.
Funny how he didn't remember the apraiser in a mall who appraised his watch?😂😂😂😂😂😂
I like how you taking your time explaining to him something he already knows. I like how he brings in a few real times to then hit you with the fake one hopping you not going to inspect it a lot since the for items were real
I love how some of these people think because you're a pawn broker you don't know the product!🤣
If he thought hed just been told his rolex is fake a normal person would of sworn a hundred times, walk up and down the shop kicking things, he was too cool, 17,500 dollars is a lot to lose good con .
If you’re going to sell off a fake, at least bring a Superclone. Those $40 Shenzhen specials can’t fool a blind person.
The hands alone are way different. No need to go from there. I have zero watch experience , paused at 8:35 and went on a quick search of authentic images and it was real easy to catch
That’s funny I said the same thing to myself you beat me to it 😂😂😂😂

Strolex
EXLAX LOL. THE GUY WAS SOOOOO FUGAZI!!!!!
Lots of scammers in Langley, BC..i used to live there.
"Dremelled in there" 😂
Why are we hiding the identities of these scumbags?
If that guy stepped in sh*t, it was bullsh*t. He didn’t even bother mentioning the first watch or even showing him the third watch.
I’m a big fan of Craigslist hunter & pawnbroker pickers , but I’m starting to enjoy your channel. Maybe you could show close up view of the interactions that would make it more appealing for viewers.
I agree showing an up close view of item(s) being pawned.
I think he knew it wasn’t real, that’s why he thought maybe he could pull a fast one on a pawn shop when anyone knows that a watch dealer will get you the best price. Same with gold and silver bullion. They just don’t know they walked into an encyclopedia of knowledge and they aren’t going to slip one by my man here!😂❤
The correct response to someone saying your watch is fake is no it’s not not how can you tell lol
😂😂😂😂
I had to quit watching this, due to the insane amount of BLEEPS!!!!! That's such an old way of dealing with stuff you don't wish to expose, now you can just dip the sound! You don't need to destroy eardrums with loud BLEEPS!!!
I was thinking the exact same thing
Having been to a local own shop recently, I was impressed enough that I have a whole new level,of respect for their expertise, that and videos like this.
I agree with the other comments that he knew it was fake. If he really was struggling with money and then found out his watch was fake he would have been devastated lol. Glad to see your pops returning to spin the wheel. Have a good weekend brother!
Just commenting to get you pushed in the algorithm
You gotta question a dude who wears half of “a matching set” of jewelry to his wife. Haha
You don't take a fake Rolex to a pawn shop. Those guys know everything.
OMG, loved the video. Agree with fourtraxer. If I paid $18,000 and found out it was a fake I would be a lot more upset. I love your ability to read people. If I'm coming to sell you my watch, my focus is my watch I would not be walking around the store asking if you can sell me a ring and size it. He was a scammer. Love how you handled him without calling him out. Great video. p.s. I went to an authorized ROLEX dealer just last week. Wanted to upgrade my stainless steel to a 18k President. GUARANTEE my focus was on my watch and the new one. I wasn't asking questions about ANYTHING else.
I bet they told you that you can put your name down for one
I was very impressed in with the way you handled that Customer’s BS
When he said it was appraised, that's how you shojlda known he was seeing if you'd fall for it... 😂
It's the right play to go along with the scammer's story, if for no other reason than to just avoid escalation. No reason to call the person a liar, just be the bearer of bad news and move the person along.
In the case of the Sky-Dweller, replicas never get the functions of the crown correct. Very often the bezel does not function as the Sky-Dweller's does, as well. One of the best things to do when checking authenticity of Rolex models, particularly Sky-Dweller, GMT Master II (Explorer II also) and Daytonas, is to just unscrew the crown and verify that each position and corresponding setting is true to the model's functions. Generally, just popping the crown out to the first position and testing the hand-winding function is sufficient to tell the difference between a replica and the genuine article.
Also for a piece that expensive, you’d always keep the box. Thats a tell tale sign too.
He said he never had the box.
I like the way you show people whats up with respect.👍
Great video love this channel thanks -- Anthony
I always ask if I can open up the back to see the movement. You are correct on the stuff you see on the dial, that is always a good indicator.
He knew it as fake…..😂sooooo calm…..
Blue sky dweller is also a red flag because the blue color was the hardest one to come by and sells for a premium the easiest way to tell these fakes is to try to turn the bezel and if that changes the red mark on the month that means it’s fake because the real one changes automatically
weight of high end watch, once you held a high end watch, experienced watch maker will immediately tell difference. Swiss facilities typically have very strict quality control, misalign markers and finishing no sharp edges. bracelet high caliber should also not have any flimsy on clasp and or chains.
The watch looked like something you get from the gate 😂😂
Walked away to browse after giving him the watch.
“This is fake”
“What!!!!”
Haha that seller is a clown
Idk about asking questions is a red flag. When I’ve sold my omegas and some of my Rolex’s i talk and I’m friendly. Also my watches were all real
Is 65% of gold scrap value fair and curious about what you normally pay? Local shop offered me 50-60% and another was 65%. Thanks for your dedication to getting videos out to the subscribers ❤
Thanks for the support. I would say you might be able to push for 70-75% on 14kt scrap. But seems like 65% is what I am hearing from many people being offered as well. Try shopping around a bit and you will find a dealer willing to pay over 65%. Every little bit adds up on large quantities.
If you go to a reputable coin shop you can get 85% of melt value. I've sold gold and silver and always shop around first and my LCS always beats the pawnshop
Anyone who loses that kind of money would be homicidal at best.
He must have rehearsed his delivery 100 times in front of the mirror 😂
After finding out it's fake , It's funny now when he said i have the box but it's in storage 😆
The gold is off on the bezel. Rolex gold is its own gold and it’s a milky look that never needs to be Roudium plated again. That’s bezel was polished like stainless steel. Dead give away. I have 10 Rolex’s from Mayors.
Good job spotting the fakes! Keep the vids coming!
The movement on a skydweller would have been a dead giveaway. Theres no replica movement that duplicates a genuine skydweller functions.
“Whatttt” after you told him it was fake 😂😂
Yeah, go to the “Rolex Dealer” you bought it from, with your box and receipt, and get your money back. 🤨👌🏻
And file a complaint with the guy who totally really appraised it. 🤣🤡
This guy is the definition of remaining stoic in stressful times!
What do you mean you couldn't help him?
You helped him by telling him he got "pawned" 😂
I've owned a Timex for 40 years it takes a licking and keeps on ticking. The beautiful part of it is I found it on the ground.
The “frosted Rolex logo” is called “laser etched crown”
Great interaction with the guy and watch. Explained to him allot of things making it a fake. I can wear a watch but I couldn't tell you if one is fake or real. Thanks for the observations you made.
I collect watches, preferring Divers, Field, and Dress watches. As a rule, I will pay no more than $2000.00. I like micro-brands. I wear a different watch every day. The customer with the Rolex is a fool or a scammer. You are right about the constant blather. If I purchase a Rolex, new or used, or any watch in that class, I will go to a genuine, certified, and licensed Rolex dealer.
Yep I don't think he was surprised at all. He must of thought you wouldn't going to spot it.
Good eye! I am thinking the guy was a scammer from the get go, but good for you for not falling for it! Great content!
Very true. His reaction to his POTENTIAL money loss is very odd. I am new to your channel. Keep up the good work.
Lol this channel was in my algorithm. Subscribed. The intro sounds like Kendrick Lamar. Good show Bro 💯
They really give it a go don't they, they think " he he I'm gonna fool this guy today" ..
HOW WRONG THEY ARE !
our man here is a PRO .
We learn alot here, thanks for being a humble individual.
He brought in the real jewellery items as a diversion.
Con Man; "I'll have to make some calls on that". Yeah, back to your "Guy" in Tijuana.
That guy definitely knew!! He was just trying it on!
I really thought you said you were going to give us more reasons why you were getting red flags, but it never happened. I would really looking forward to you giving us more things to look for when dealing with people.
Great episode!! I can't believe he thought he could fool an expert like yourself!! Wow!! I'm looking forward to your next one!
good eye my guy
I have to agree with everyone that thought that guy was way too calm when you told him that his Rolex was a fake. I’ve bought a real genuine Rolex before and it was from a store that only sold new Rolex watches. The security that they had inside the store was insane you were watched every second and everything was behind bulletproof glass. Only a couple of people were allowed in the store at a time. I don’t know why anyone would even think of purchasing a Rolex second hand unless it’s from you Gary because I know you don’t sell fake stuff 😊. I can tell you that I’d never pay that much for a watch ever again like what was I thinking LOL also it got stolen by a family member visiting me I should have put it in my safe. If you ever have a question about something just go in and see Gary he’ll tell you the truth about the item I’ve done that many times and it’s good to know that there is someone that you can trust
The watch owner knew exactly what he was doing when he tried to scam you with a fake Rolex.
Orientals ..lol
I am so greatful about you .
I do storage auction and find high end items , your video taught me so much.
I think the guy with Rolex was BS , I would of been pissed , he thought you might know how to spot fakes
Good catch
You're very nice to people who are obviously trying to steal from you.
for me it’s like someone bringing you a fake $100 bill and expecting you to be silly enough to fall for it.
Minor correction... US money is one of the easier notes to counterfeit, so a person falling for a fake US $ 100 bill is NOT necessarily "silly". However it would be silly indeed to fall for a fake $70 bill !
2 ways to tell a fake skydweller, fake rolexes always fix the time in the reverse way to genuine, and two just wind it and you can hear the hollow wind sound compared to the heavier grainy real ones. And then just have a screw back tool. Make life so much easier
I worked a pawnshop, part time, for years at their gun counter. Of course, filling in at jewellery and whatever when needed. This kind of thing was all day long.
Typical guy coming in, looks a bit flashy, drives an expensive car, the whole bro look. They have always over paid for something somewhere else, mostly subconsciously feeling cool that they were flashing and dropping big money on some bling.
They come in the shop and think they are going to break even, or even make money by lying about what they paid.
We loan or purchase just like the dude says. Weight of the gold based on spot price, and quality and size of diamond. Because you have to get a jablomie just like you to buy a 5 inch Letter A with a bunch of millie diamond chips, and a 10 ct. gold chain. That crap goes to a wholesale gold buyer.
He does right by handing the dude back the cartier watch and not making an offer on the junk jewelry. All you are going to do when you offer him $250 is get him crying and badmouthing the place.
Fake rolex... People try to 0:02 pass the worst garbage off as real...and anyone coming in with a Rolex, Omega, Tudor with no box is automatically suspect. Yeah, all that stuff can be counterfeit. But nobody buys a Rolex and tosses the box. The omegas sometimes come with a loupe in the box. All that stuff helps prove it real. Not a guarantee, but certainly help make the case.
