"Kids hate learning." Kids are all about learning, how is it possible that we can make them hate it. Me too, my elementary school was quite relaxed, and I was not so much bothered by grades. High school was terrible. I am an intrinsic curious person and willing to learn always, but high school made me feel stressed out. I feel sad for myself as this sensitive, curious and smart child that felt dumb, not worthy enough and developed a stress pattern for many years to come. I just don't perform my best when it comes to time, grades and tests. Fortunately I was still able to pass essential tests and exams concerning degrees, licenses and certificates and I am happy how my career turned out. But God knows I wish it weren’t necessary to feel like being funneled through a process to be successful. By the way; I think this may not count for everyone, there are also people who thrive on competition. That might be related to conditioning, but it could also just be in the nature of certain people. I hope the next generation can improve things for themselves and the next generations to come, though it shouldn't be a 'must' 😉 Thank you so much for this snippet of the conversation, it's very important to break through this conditioning.

Robert Fritz's book, "The Path of Least Resistance" has an awesome take of this concept. We do not motivate out of love but fear of consequences or other reactive stances rather than a purely creative one. We also develop oscillating patterns due to having both the goal as well as the belief in mind that it's not possible or we're undeserving. Highly recommend. Have also heard Charles use the terms, "Power Versus Force" and I wonder if he has read David R. Hawkins who is an incredible teacher.

I loved your 'unlearning' videos (a few years ago), Charles. I think we should investigate - once more and deep - all the facettes of oppressive conditioning in our societies, uncovering what kind of hidden curriculum we are actually meant to learn (foremost, but not only in school). To be aware of a core-problem is often more than half of the rent.
I tried to give the feeling of being always okay to my little daughter, sometimes against the authority of so-called 'teachers'. At least for the first few years of school I succeeded in making learning to the pleasure it is - no pressure at all. Later it faded, stress and social conformity took over. Poor child, poor children.
A line from an old german song translated: 'Unbowed, bright people would be a beautiful goal, people with broken backbones are there yet to many..'

Leaning is not the product of the teacher it is the product of the curiosity of the student.

It's also the product of carrying something heavy in one hand.

If individualism could see itself, then the village would return without the factory of no art and science to question.
Culture ha been co-opted for materialism.

a consumer culture will not survive
many people claiming their true purpose and desires.
so shut down that tendency by any and all
    means!

Apparently our "true purpose" has been misappropriated turning us into shoppers. Insecure shoppers.
