One of the best way to experience Toyama prefecture's abundance of nature and breathtaking sightseeing spots is to go on self-guided cycling tours. In this video we will introduce 5 cycling routes that bring one closer to nature as well as explore small towns off the typical tourist route.

Would this be considered a side trip from Tokyo? This wasn't originally part of my itinerary but after watching this video now it is.
I'd really love to try Route 1 or Route 5.
Thanks to the shinkansen, Toyama is now just two hours from Tokyo. You can arrive there as early as 8:30 and depart as late as 21:20. So, I guess you could consider it a side trip from Tokyo.

Yes, it is.
It’s not so difficult to go around!
But Toyama is a place where it snows and gets cold in winter.
If you travel Toyama, early fall is good!
