I would not take anything out and keep it as it is because of the sentimental value.
Nice to see an album like this.

Nice video, you should do when I've bought old albums off Ebay & the stamps are stuck to the pages, just rip the page out & soak it in a bowl of Luke warm water!

I received one of those albums in a lot I purchased some time ago. I noted that you said you did not collect USA. I have a love-hate relationship with USA stamps. Some of the paper used for printing stamps seems to be quite poor quality, other papers have more guts in the make-up. What I do not like - and so many countries are doing this - is self-adhesive stamps, what a pain! I did find a product called 'Bestine' which does the job, but it evaporates very quickly and is pricey. I did hear there is, or was, a move among American collectors to ban collecting USA stamps in protest of self-adhesives. Personally, I do believe self-adhesives could cause some damage to the future of collecting - but, perhaps that is just my bias. Thanks for sharing. Bryan

Hi John. I really enjoyed this episode about your first stamp album. I started collecting stamps when I was 8 or 9 years. I bought my first stamp album when I was 10 years. Here is what it looked like. I bought it at the Forest Lawn Drugstore which had recently annexed by the city of Calgary in 1961. I bought it in 1965. This is illustrated with my theme in youtube. Thanks.

GREAT. If you still want to upgrade the 1st album.u could give it a clean and take the pages to be guillotined to let's say A4, and then get some mounts and every so add the set of stamps to each country. Also you could add a mount to the 2 images on the top which you could put the stamp they represent in. I bet that would be a great idea. MERRY CHRISTMAS from Greece.

I did not see anything of any note from a monetary standpoint but I am sure that the album has a high sentimental value. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for watching. I didn't expect that it contained anything significant, but as you say, the album means the world to me for it's significance in getting me into this great hobby. It's also a link to my mum, sadly she passed away 24 years ago, whe I was in my
      20s.

The $2 US stamp is apparently worth 3 Euros if it's used. Had it been mint and not stuck into the album it would have been worth 15 Euros. It's part of a Presidential series from 1938.

Wish I still had my first stamp album, god knows what happened to it. I stopped collecting around the age of 14 and started again some 30 years later. Thank you for the video John, nice to see your first album.

I do notice stamps from Denmark carry a premium higher than many other European countries but you have to check.
