- I bought this KidKraft playset / swing set from COSTCO almost 4 years ago. Lets take a look at how well it is holding up and why I will never buy from this brand ever again. Keep in mind this is just my experience and this many not be the case for all consumers looking for support.

I wish they still had this one. I bought one for the kids and they loved it, left it at the old house when we moved.
The kids do love it! It's been a great unit Overall! Thanks for stopping in
It's still available. Just bought one today.
@cesarrosales3409 you don't have a link by any chance. I dont see it on the site.
"We're sorry, this item is currently unavailable for purchase in zip code" ... dang
They have it online and in store right now
Wonder if they get their wood from Menards? I bought "landscape timbers" from Menards 3 years ago to redo a retaining wall. Last summer I seen the boards were already rotting, in fact one that is above the level of the dirt has completely rotted and is crumbling. I would think landscape timbers should be good for ground contact. Wish I could find some old school treated lumber that might be toxic but, at least last for more than a couple years. Good thing you went with their plastic lumber to do the retaining wall around your shed.
Somethings definitely are not as good as the used to be! The playset is made in China so there is a good chance that is part of the problem. I bought some landscape timbers from menards a few years ago and I agree, not what you expect for what they cost!
@@k6outdoorsYep, If you buy landscape timbers from Menards also make sure you use them fairly quick. Had one that didn't get used and when I went to get it to replace the one that rotted. It was so warped there was no way to ever get it put in place.
I will not buy this set for sure, LOL, all my kids are over 30.
In hindsight, what do you recommend for a foundation to prevent premature rotting?
There are likely several different options but concrete seems like it would be best fitted. Although it seems like a ton of added expense. It's unfortunate the materials used don't seem fit for ground contact applications. Thanks for stopping in!
Have you called Costco directly? I did for bad Mohawk flooring and they got me connected to someone in minutes
I have not, it might be worth the try! Thanks for stopping in!
In the 4 years have you sealed it outside of the seal that came on it?
I have not, its just for some resealing now though. Thanks for stopping in!
@@k6outdoorsdoes it look better after the reseal? I’ve been looking at a different kid kraft set but like you big on customer service it’s must that there aren’t many brands in this tier
@@k6outdoorsI am very hands was just thinking if I do get a kid Kraft I’d replace some key wood with better quality pressure treated and make them the same to ones I need to replace
I do want to highlight that on this specific playset the main structure is 1 large assembled unit from the factory. Not that it makes it impossible, but its more difficult to replace the bottom boards
@@k6outdoors thanks for the heads up. And very good to know thank you
How long did it take you to put it up from scratch?
Every bit of 14 hours.. its a long process
Took me and 4 others 10 hours 😭
@BishopRealTalk98 is alot of work..
@@k6outdoors opening those 4 boxes of nuts, bolts, screws washers etc, we like "what have we got ourselves into?! 😂 All worth it in the end.
@@BishopRealTalk98 definitely worth it, the kids love it!
How much warranty was included with the set?
5-year structural warranty, everything else 1 year.
For mine, I i built a pressure treated four by four rectangular frame and put deck boards on top. I put the frame in ground bc it is rated for ground contact. These big box cedar sets are NOT rated for ground contact and WILL ROT. I inly know this bc i was gifted a similar set that was just sitting on the owners grass lawn for years and it was rotted terribly.
Definitely makes sense why you did what you did. Unfortunately, the manufacturer doesn't realize this and provide better installation guidance. Thanks for sharing and stopping in!
What would that look like?
@@riaCya It's just a rectangular platform that is about 4 inches tall that the entire house part sits upon.
Wait! I watched your two review moments ago…. Dog gone. 😢
In all honesty it still is a great setup, just beware of the issues and hope you can get support if you have any, thanks for stopping in!
Dude do maintenance on it.
Appreciate the feedback, thanks for stopping in
Get what you pay for. A real play set cost 5k + . I’m building one of these as I’m typing this and I can tell it’s a economic solution to a play set. But by the time it breaks down my daughter will be too big for it
I get it but at the same time don't offer a warranty if your not going to support it, that's my main gripe with this situation. Thanks for stopping in and happy assembling!
