      I'm sure the companies he is supporting (whether paying him or not) are great, but many cheaper stands are absolutely fine. The ones he bent prove nothing of how well they work as stands, he put stress in a way they just simply will not be stressed in use for what they were designed.

      So i notice everyone in this thread says the Harbor Freight stand is fine except the guy who pointed out he has the ZX10R. Which got me wondering, what and how large of bikes do you other folks have? Maybe the Harbor Freight is just sketchy with 1000cc bikes 🤷

    I’ve been using reasonably priced stands for years and not once had a problem of a bike being poorly supported or fall. Just take time to adjust them properly and they’ll serve you fine. You don’t need stands that cost hundreds of £’s or $’s.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  6 лет назад +36

      There are plenty of riders who have used cheaper stands and not had a problem for sure. There are also plenty of stories from riders who learned this lesson the hard way. IMO there are better places to save a few bucks than a set of motorcycle stands. The purpose of this is to show even though they may look similar in the photos they are not all created equal. All riders should do their own research before purchasing so their expectations match the end result. Thanks for sharing your experience. - Brian Van

    Your test is meaningless, you are putting forces where they don’t matter just to brake the handle of the stand... you can brake a brick by gently knocking it in half but you can also use it to stack it neatly 20 storeys high. Saying that "if you are selling something good people will buy it" is no longer true. And hasn't been for quite some time. It's evident everywhere. Why do you think so much shit is made in China these days. Unless you are 18 years old, as a salesman surely you would have seen it. People assume that stuff is just simply over priced and a rip off rather than superior quality, and choose to go for the cheap option even if it will only last 1/10th the life of the superior, more expensive product. It's very hard to find genuine quality in anything you buy these days, and it's going to get much worse.

    He ain't wrong. The pitbull stuff is just miles ahead of less expensive stands in terms of quality and strength. You buy a pitbull stand you're never going to have to replace it if you're using it for it's intended purpose. and it's going to have no problems supporting any bike on the market. You can put a bike up on a pitbull stand and then sit on the bike, and you'll feel completely stable. I tried sitting on my 675 while it was up on a HF equivalent stand and it didn't feel secure at all getting up on the bike. After I got off I could see that one of the pipes had flexed.
    I haven't owned any woodcraft stands, but if their stands are like they crash protection products, they're also going to be excellent.

      Bro his videos are the real deal. Hes just letting you know the difference in the stands and in his opinion. He has the best videos on gear too. Does he promote the stuff he sells, yes he does but he only sells a few brands and its because he has chosen what he thinks is the best for riders. He has a store he could have everything brand but he doesnt. He does however find the best of the best for people who are on a cheap budget. His sense of humor is dry sometimes but he was having fun. Look at some gear vids. You will change your mind

    Just got my Pit Bull rear stand. I'm using it for a Ducati Monster 821. I can tell you it works great. The bike feels super secure, and the stand feels really heavy duty and well built. Really easy to use, no effort and the removable handle is great for my little space in the garage. I will add though, Pit Bull says "Do not sit on the motorcycle while motorcycle is supported by the stand." I don't know, if I can sit on my motorcycle with just the kickstand I'm sure the rear stand can support the bike's weight plus my 180lbs? I'm really hoping for $265 CDN it lasts a long time!

    I'm living in another side of the world and I have to say that I do trust strongly in US & EURO goods. From an engineering standpoint, they are reliable and durable. I bought a pitbull stand many years ago and I must say it still stand strong in the test of time. There are other items that I do buy such as flyscreen, fairings, protection and etc. Lasted years and years eventhough through the rough and tough.
    As a rider, I do compare the cheaper alternatives to the harder ones in terms of durability, history of R&D and few other components such as quality and material. Depends on each individual on choosing which investments that will last a lifetime or rather the economical side of things. Each person to your own and its all about the passion of sharing your interest, especially the freedom to ride. Safety is still no. 1 and I support BV for sharing his knowledge and practical everyday tests on the quality. Cheers.

      Im a big fan of stg. But I Agreed I have the same trackside rear, as well as the trackside fork lift and head lift. The fork lift is honestly a little sketchy. The head stand is 100% safe and fine. Notice the only one he tries to bend are $100+ stand vs a $ harbor freight stand. I can't bent my trackside stands with any reasonable amount of force, that includes standing on it while its on its side. Ill give you alot of the fork lift stands are sketchy, some better than others. But by the logic of this video, bike stands should be made out of 3" solid steal bar. That way if you try to use is as a shackle between two trucks doing a tug of war, your bike won't fall over? 🤷‍♂️ lol. Seems like alot over unnecessary energy and flexing in a tight shirt going on here.. "watch me bend 10ga aluminum in a direction it wasn't ment to be stressed!!"

      Yes it is safe to use a stand to store the bike and while performing maintenance on it. That said we do recommend using the best stands you can afford as they offer more strength and stability than the cheap ones will. - Van

    I would LOVE to have a pitbull OR a woodcraft but im just a poor ass so couldnt afford it. I wish you would of done a bargain budget option bc i guarantee you my t-rex stand would fit that option, an extremely good stand for 2nd best and only 60 something dollars. (Think they raised there prices now though)

    • @CorkKNIFE
      @CorkKNIFE 6 лет назад +1

      I just checked their web site. The Pitbull/Woodcraft are less than $150, your bike probably costs thousands of dollars. The difference between the two pricewise is less than $90 bucks!
      Why would you risk it? That's probably less than the average one month cable OR cell phone bill.

    • @tylerdirden3416
      @tylerdirden3416 6 лет назад +3

      CorkKNIFE you CAN NOT bend my stand like those did, the stand i bought is not low budget like that. Im not risking my bike at all, my bike cost 6gs my 2 stands were like 120 something, so less than 1 pitbull which was over 150 in the options I'd want. No risk here at all as a T-rex stand is made of thick gauge metal just like a pitbull, just not all the features. I was just offering a second bargain budget option for people who dont wanna pay over 150 dollars for some basic metal welded up.

      Tyler Dirden I'm just saying it's doable, mate. Back in the day I've purchased brand new pitbull for $150...right now I have 4, which cost me in total $200... if I had silver spoon in my moth it would be a different story, but with wife, kid and bills to pay I'm cool with used stuff...works just as good

    Brian How did that work out with the removal of ABS on the R1 ?
    I have the exact same bike and ' I think ' stock ABS does not allow you to apply as much force to that rear brake as I sometimes would like to apply. So what do you think Yes or No ? Should I leave it alone ?

    I usually love your build videos but this one is over the top I've been racing or 12 years now have many many stands of many brands and they all work fine yes my pitbull and woodcraft stands are top quality and love them but I have 100$ stands just as good and just as well made. If you use them as intended they will never fail if you bend them abuse them yeah they will ALL break it all comes out to how much abuse you send their way. Like I said I usually like what you do but this video is pushing the limits of product promotion to the point of ridicule. The fact that you took time and attacking people giving their own opinions on the subject matter in the comment section makes you look a bit sour and doesn't look good from a potential costumer. Do you treat your costumers the same way when they have issues with a product sold by STG and they are not satisfied or has defaults? I'm sorry but you came out as "" I know what best and who cares what you think in the end I'm right your wrong and thats that ""
    Like I said I like what you guys do and the subject matter you put out but this one is a strike in my books these stands should have been promoted with a bias perspective from a shop that sell many different stands. This is only my opinion on what I have watched it doesn't define who you are and I'm not attacking your person nor your integrity in any way just a simple observation. Keep the good content coming Van!

      This is not meant to be an attack on anyone. I did this to show there is a difference between the quality stands and the cheap ones. Most people will never have the opportunity to handle all of the different brands to experience the difference. When you shop stands on the internet there is a ton of misinformation out there from fake product reviews to pages comparing motorcycle stands created by and affiliate marketing firm that has never handled any of the products they write about. - Brian Van

      So he likes only the good stuff...so what...its his business. It also helps to know if you buy from him...its good stuff. ALOT of companies do this. And if you think this is bad, look at his Ninja 400 King Of Exhaust video. Used car sales shit there. But atleast you know your getting good stuff from his store.

    Salesman, why would you sit on a stand anyway🤷🏾‍♂️. I like some of your videos but you are compromising some of your integrity by making this one

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  5 лет назад +1

      If you ride on the track you will need to sit on the bike when it is on the stands frequently. Notice that we use a race bike in this video, no lights etc... This video is full of good information with a little humor sprinkled on top. This video is most relevant for sport riders that are already on the track or intend to do so in the future. I am a salesman that invests a ton of time and effort into helping the riders that shop at STG choose products they will be satisfied with. - Brian Van

    Hey Brian, can you bend the trackside stand like that?
    I actually have pitbull rear and trackside front stand, and since it's used much less often the trackside is not bad for the price.
    The only problem with pitbull stands besides the price is that they scratch easily. Actually was shipped with some scratches on it.

    • @sportbiketrackgear
      @sportbiketrackgear  5 лет назад

      The Trackside rear is not horrible, their front stand is another story IMO. I found their front stand tough to use and pretty unstable once the bike was raised. - Van

      Built in the US is not a global stamp of quality. Both Pit Bull and Woodcraft produce quality products here in the US. As for cars I drive GM products (spent most of my former career in a Cadillac dealer as a tech) and have some issues for sure but overall completely satisfied. Over the years I have worked on nearly every make and model vehicle, they all have their issues IMO. - Brian Van

    I agree with you about these stands. I will eventually get a Pitbull stand.
    But right now with my current living situation, it's not ideal.
    I don't have a garage, I park my bike on the street, I leave these stands outside exposed to the elements and potential thieves.
    Am I happy with the stand? It's serviceable, I also know it's limitations so I'm careful when I use them.
