    Thanks to you, I learned how to safely cross a river with my dog. I needed that strap technique when I had to cross a river with my dog. I carried him over; it was a bit overwhelming, but I crossed. He is a small dog like yours.
    I like the strap. Where can I buy one? My dog wears a dog vest harness with a handle on the trails. Can I use his leash for a river crossing? I live in California, USA. California had recorded rainfall and recorded snowfall in the mountains in decades. More stroms are coming. I am sure streams and rivers will be filled with water this spring and early summer months.

    Cheers Hounds,
    Ive never thought about these difficulties as Ive never had to do a river crossing more than shin deep and my dog made her way across on her own. But now I have a better idea on other options
    Thanks

    Hi Hounds, I don't think I have seen this subject covered on RUclips before, it probably has been, but your videos on the subject are excellent, both in presentation, demonstration, editing, content, interpretation and observation. Most peeps that watch RUclips videos perhaps do not know the amount of work to make a good RUclips video. I've done a few RUclips videos myself on totally unrelated subjects, and it takes a bloody long time to try and get it looking and sounding right. The footage re: the river crossings needs special mention. Its 'phishing down' and you are crossing difficult terrain, you then set up the camera on the far bank, checking for focus, aspect etc.... you then go and make the crossing and finaly retrieve the camera...big respect for the patience and perseverance to do that on what must have been very tough days.
    One suggestion/question re:dogs and ticks. Did you or do you check every night for the little bast%^$ds. I use the Tom 'o Twist on my dogs (although they have been tick-free for few years). Also looking to the CW report.

      Thank you very much!!! I really appreciate the kind words! High praise indeed from a man of your caliber.👍
      I try to be vigilant with checking Moss for ticks each time we get in the tent but often there is so much to do and I'm so tired I can be lax. Most ticks are found during cuddle time to be honest, haha. 🐺🙂 As we are prepared and vigilant with precautions we can afford that a wee bit though.
      The tick twister you mention is definetly the best removal too I have found. It just works so well!

    Oh I just found this.. Looking for ideas how to carry my dog safely across rivers and scary bridges. (she has a fear of bridges with loud rivers) Is that a leash your are using or some sort of strap that will lock?

    • @HoundsofHowgate
      @HoundsofHowgate  Год назад +2

      It's a tie down strap used for lashing luggage down to roof racks on your car etc. Halfords sell them so they do: search for '2m Tie Down' and/or 'Thule Luggage Strap'. 🙂🐾👍

    Been a while since this video was posted but awesome information!! Any tips for doing this with a larger dog? Mine is 85 lbs, I don't think carrying him would work very well lol
