Got my a220d 4matic AMG style almost 3 yrs ago. German import, mountain grey. I can confirm all the good (and less good) things told. Such a lovely car both exteriors and interiors, although some cheap and noisy plastics around climate commands and front doors. Engine (mapped to 203hp) noisy but powerful and gratifying. Quite low fuel consumption for its performance. Very reliable so far. No trouble of any kind.
Just purchased my very own A class! 2016 A Class A180d AMG Line Premium. Its an absolute beauty and fairly kitted out with all the nice extras (no sunroof sadly). I don't think I've ever been so excited! Have to wait a week to pick it up!
Hey man! Had mine over a year now. I still absolutely love it, and you will too! I still think its one of the most stylish cars out there, and you really feel like you're living in luxury. I've had no issues - other than some minor scuffs! Let me know what you think when you get it! @@j2effrey
I've got a South seas blue late 2015 A220d, not Motorsport edition but it's top spec every option available including Harmon Kardon, full leather everything Inc dash, red stitching, larger display with comand, light up door sills you name it it has it. I bought it in Jan 2018 with 8k miles, done 60k in that time. Gotta agree absolutely fantastic car mines mapped to 205bhp, still does 55mpg no issues. Never even had an MOT advisory ever, full health check done all green. It's had brake pads once and a couple sets of tyres. Cheap as hell to insure at 26, really fun to drive and the tax is £20 I really think for what it offers, how sexy it looks, the nice interior and low running costs it's a great buy! Also I think it looks more expensive than it is like people think you've gotta have way more money than you do to drive and run it lol! Good videos just subbed 👍
The 1.6 & 2 L Turbocharged petrol engines were developed by Mercedes Benz, they are called M270 and M274 developed in 2011, in fact the Diesel is built by Renault. I am using one at 120,000 kms.
Also handy for people to know is at around the 50,000 miles mark it needs its DCT auto gearbox servicing which along with its normal service will be around £700 (from Mercedes) as I’ve just had mine done. Mercedes don’t tell you that when you buy one so worth doing a service plan if your cars around that mileage. :)
I just picked one up last saturday from a Merc dealer here in the UK. Not this model but its an A180 amg line. Love it apart from the heated seats have issues.. which I’m going to ask them to fix tomorrow. Also yeah the stop start has never worked yet.. the symbol is always on with a cross thru it so its there, just never happens.
For information the 2.1 diesel engine is discontinued, all mercs now have a new 2.0 diesel lump. Which is a far more modern diesel than the 0ld tractor units.
I cant wrap my head around the choice between A160 / A180 / A200 since they all have the same engine. My gut feeling says: A200 will need more maintenance since we ask more power from the same engine. Any thoughts on that?
Hmm the mercs look a lovely car and I was looking to get a a class next time but the a class has a Renault engine from the research I’ve found out. Which kinda put me off as the Renault engine is not reliable. And the A class has its reliability issues.
@@drivelife.channel so hard to find an A220d with premium plus nowadays, without having to pay absurd dealership prices... I’ve been looking for months

Does it still run great over the 100k miles plus area?

Is the M270 reliable? And isn’t the M270 also built by Renault?

Change 12V battery and reset. Lot of glitches due to an old or weak battery .... simple fix
We just bought one, love it!!!!!
Is it still good?

2.1 is a tractor unit, that bad?
By comparison, yes .
Thinking of buying a a180/200. What do you think of buying one out 2016/2017
I have the petrol 1.5 so is shite and so they have loads of problems..?

Nice pocket rocket with all convenience options you actually need daily. But this car has some expensive packages total worth 10000 extra ...
Did you buy it from a dealership? Prices of them are quite high at the moment due to the price rise in second hand vehicles
Yes was bought in April 2020 :)

Yeah why not? I own a MB B 180 aut. 2016 :)
A180s are shit avoid like the plague
A200d and A220d use exact same engine just slightly different tune and turbos for more power
This is NOT a premium car a bugatti or porsch is a premium car not something like this
Karmon Hard on 😂😂😂.
I was told Mercedes fitted Renault engines in the a class
Only certain engines such as the A160 petrol and diesel :)
Are those engines bad ?
It’s the a180d/a200d which is Renault. The a180d is a 1.5 Renault CRDI engine and the a200d is a 1.6. The a220d uses a Mercedes engine.
