I was at a friend’s birthday and realized that slapping the mic while next to the speaker makes battle drums. Don’t ask me why I was slapping a microphone
This really reminds me of late 2000s downloadable indie games. they crunchy anti aliased font, the pixelation, the square particles, its all so cool! Great game!
Ok just played the game here are my thoughts. -The game is very stressful, trying to go down that hallway with a bunch of monsters chasing you is very tense as you try and reload and stay alive. -The atmosphere is great. Although the graphics are simple the sound adds so much to it and creates a creepy terror inducing feel. -It is fun. I really enjoyed it and as I write this comment my heart is still racing from playing Loved the game, awesome experience keep up the great work mizizizizizziziziziziziz :)
Plot twist: The Syringes are drugs. The whole game is the hallucination of an addict. They are so high, that they can barely move and have to drag themselves along the floor. The Parasite is a metaphor for being sober and of course, the addict tries to stay away from that as far as possible.
@@cthulhufhtagn7520 The gun is the metaphor for resisting help from family and friends. Add some story into this and you've got one hell of a game. Reveal at the end is you're not a person; you're a parasite yourself, one inside of a massive living biological organism with it's own ecosystem. The monsters you kill are the autonomous cells of that organism that eventually integrated themselves into the ecosystem to more efficiently aid the body. Well, either that or they're the equivalent of white blood cells. Pretty cliche, but hey, it fits the title. It's not just the parasite that's endoparasitic, you're endoparasitic too, and just like the parasite that's going deeper into your body, you're going deeper, till you reach the heart of your host and kill it.
I am surprised how cool you made the game in a couple of days. The end of the game pleased and left a pleasant aftertaste. I want to see more games like this and we will wait for the continuation of the synth story. :)
Last week i finished my first game for a jam ever with some friends, couldnt have done it without your videos/insight for real, specially since godot became my engine of preference, thank you my dude
It's refreshing to see a game dev channel that gets to the point and doesn't waste your time, just going over the important details. This is such a cool game for 15 hours of work! Congrats :)
Great work on the game, I found it challenging yet tense as you wanted it. Credits to the ambient sound, what a brilliant way to get some sound and it added a lot to the game
everything you added to this game was fantastic. The movement, the reloading system, the health system, it all added to the atmosphere and made me feel like i had no control and was panicking imagining playing with those mechanics. you're an incredible game designer!!!
To say that this system has worked perfectly at making the player paranoid, disempowered, and scared is an understatement. I am going to take your work to heart in the future, and would love to help with assets.
The way you did the SFX Foley is amazing! I cannot believe it turned out so well. If you didn't see it, no one would ever guess you made those sounds with just common household items and a mic.
i really want to see more of this game, the artstyle heavily reminds me of the type of games that are played by alpha beta gamer or manlybadasshero, really good work here man, i would love to see more levels or a sequel or something.
2:11 what’s funny is, up until the claustrophobic part, this described Minecraft pretty well- especially the rl craft mod. Like, if you removed the claustrophobic part and any mention of horror in that reading and gave it to someone, they’d probably say it’s just a basic, challenging survival game.
bruh i just played the game, it was epic, thanks for creating such a fun game with interesting mechanics, i really enjoyed the tension the manual reloading made the game. thanks
I'm always blown away by these devlogs. I struggle to even get a character to move at all without having to look up lines of code. I'm much more comfortable with 3D modeling. My square brain refuses to retain coding knowledge :'(
I really like the level at the end spoliers \/ At first I just kinda rushed to the end and fired but then I realise you gottta speed load and be a gamer. It really does make you think, like in the second to last if you shot the zombie roaming around you wouldn't have enough for the last 2.
I personally really like the use of the UI and Health system. Having a way of visualizing the player’s health accurately, while still being much different from Bars and Number, really shows it off. Plus I think having the parasite both both a timer and health really adds to the feeling of “staying around will not end will”. Further emphasized by the coughing blood as the parasite travels deeper.
extremely interesting concept I could imagine this game being fleshed out a little more with a full short story, perhaps you could make him either disabled sometime before the beginning of the game's story or recently barely survived a crippling injury like a car crash while trying to escape the monsters/aliens/zombies then has to find a way to find help or a safe haven
Love this idea especially how you remove each spent casing, add more detail and your set! I say give a character a reason why he's limping (maybe he's a coma patient who just woke up and half of his body is limping like that scene from kill bill)
Normally I wouldn’t check out things like this but I thought I’d give it a go and I love the concept, especially the last part! This was really fun to play :)
really nice game the tension and fear that you won't be fast enough to reload builds up atmosphere the fact that you made this game in just 15h is shocking
This is REALLY cool and creative, probably one of the most creative jam games I've seen. I'd love if you went all the way to finish it and make it a full experience!
The first place I remember hearing that music is form the escapist 1, the most tense and creepy music in the freaking would when your clipping your way though a barbed wire fence while the alarm is going off. Fits well for this video.
Do you do this often? I mean making games in a couple of days? I think this is amazing.

i am in love with this whole one-hand interaction system
I would love a full survival horror game about trying to stop a parasite from getting to your brain. I genuinely love this idea
Main character: "I hate only being able to use my hand to get around"
Getting over it character: "first time?"

Incredible how creepy that leg-less torso is on its own without all that other stuff that makes your game a horror game.

10/10 game of the year
Everything about this is great , the movement, the sound design , I'm about to give it a download now

I have a little suggestion. Since it is said that the character was partially eaten, maybe you can put a half eaten arm and legs wrapped in bandages.

the game is so simple yet so tense, never thought reloading could be so intense in a videogame, it was the scariest part

That explains the videos I saw about a knight getting a bigger sword to stab a lady dragon
